"Pool Shark" Discussion **SPOILERS**

DLA said that they were just having fun with episode, so chill out :)

I liked it. Loved the interaction between Elliot Gould's character and Catherine. I love when she puts someone in their place.

It was kinda sad seeing Wendy say good-bye. I mean they didn't have to really get rid of her, just have her recurring. Like Henry and Archie.

I really do like Robbins and Langston relationship. I like Robbins chuckling at Langston when he dropped the cane.

Loved Nick, as always :D I like Sara in this episode too

Wait, this was supposed to be Catherine centric? With all that was going on I thought it was just as important as the shoehorned Wedges subplot, with some random stuff involving what was overall a silly case. I guess the use of flashbacks should have made it obvious but I was so bored I hardly noticed, and any attention was put into wondering when Drops next scene would happen, which it didn't. :shifty:

I would love more Greg-time, but I also realize that as a show with a rather large ensemble, there are going to be certain episodes that will focus on certain characters. This one was clearly a Catherine episode with a subplot that focused on Hodges. Plus with everything else going on, I figured there wouldn't be much Greg. It wasn't really a Greg-like case anyhow.

I would have been okay with the lack of Greg scenes in this episode if they'd had him join Hodges and Henry in the pool (cause I would have loved to have seen Greg in that outfit lol). And I was kind of hoping that flashback of Cath/Sam would have been a little longer... but oh well. It was an interesting episode anyway.

I can't believe i am saying this but i feel sorry for Hodges! What was the song Nick saying to Mandy? Oh Mandy...Ok let's say it like oh Wendy... seriously... :(

Sharks in the pool? That's why the title is Pool Shark! Damn, i am a genius!
Like a science-fiction story.
Cath is having flashbacks and also Drops... And Wendy left in the middle of these. She deserves a better goodbye i think but better than nothing, right? :p :)

This episode was a bit meh for me :S

I liked Elliot Gould, and I liked Nick's scene with Hodges. But that's about it that stood out :p

If it was supposed to be a Cath centric ep then it was half-hearted to me, it didn't have a big emotional impact on her and we didn't learn anything new/insightful about her.

Lack of Greg was frustrating, but I did like the continuity of the scratch even if it took me a few minutes to figure out :p

I actually disagree with that. I think we learned a lot more about Catherine here, but it wasn't noticeable unless you were watching very closely.

The most noticeable thing is that Cath is becoming much more like her father. Not in the "mob/evil" way, but in the "casino boss-calm on the outside" way that Sam had. Consider how Boozell was being aggressive with her to begin with. In the "old" Cath days, we'd have seen her bitch right back at him immediately instead of her standing there calmly until he was done spouting off and then telling him that she was in charge. Even when he brought up the "daddy's little girl" comment, the "old" Cath would have probably decked him. Here, Cath kept her poker face and seemed a bit amused.
There were other times too, when she used phrases that were from the old-school gambling days - suggesting a lot of time being around Sam in her earlier years.

This episode also showed her growth as a supervisor - taking charge and not backing down against Boozell both times when one of her colleagues were standing right there with her - first with Nick as he wanted to move the more 'personal' Cath/Boozell convo to a more 'private' place, and then with Sara when Boozell was spouting off to them both. That scene actually reminded me of "secrets & flies" in season 6 where Sara & Cath are with the Project Sunflower lady & Cath starts to become vocally aggressive right back at the lady & Sara stepped in to calm things. I was waiting for that to happen this time, but it didn't - thus showing Cath's progression as being supervisor as well as personal growth in controlling her temper.

I agree with kaylyne Catherine was awesome in this, showing her leadership abilities, she's been incredible in the first two of the new season. I'm really enjoying her performances so far, she was on top of this one all the way:bolian:

Agree with you too! We got to see the mature business like side of Cath. I for one am proud she didn't sock Gould in the face! You go girl for keeping your composure! :)

I just watched this episode and it made me sad to find out Wendy is leaving. I mean look at poor Hodges. I actually felt bad for him :(

Other then that the episode was pretty interesting. The whole shark story really kept me on my toes, haha.

Not sure if it's been mentioned previously in this thread - I've just joined and 8 pages is a lot to read through !!. LOL

I loved their choice of song when Hodges was doing his work - CeeLo Green and F*** You.

I see you driving 'round town
With the girl i love and i'm like,
F*** you! and F*** her too.

Perfect for his feelings at that time.

Oh my I just realized that song was playing when Hodges was checking the scuba tank...That was great for that scene. You know that is what Hodges was thinking! Perfect song.
I was so sad that Wendy left, it seemed to me like they were in love, just by the way they acted when she left.

I think she may be making a comeback at some point down the road. For example if any of you watch House M.D "13" is "going to rome" but I found out it's because she's shooting a movie. Do we know the actual reason why Wendy is leaving the show?(Written Out,Wants Out,Temporary)?

From what I remember when it was announced she was leaving, it was not Liz's choice to leave. I seem to remember someone mentioning that she had left some comments on Facebook to that effect.

I hope that if they lose both Jorja and Marg that they at least think about bringing Liz back. Her character will have the experience needed to work in the field by then.

From what I hear, Liz didn't leave of her own accord, but was let go.
I hope they change their minds down the road and decide to bring her back. The show may be in the last years of it's life but that is no reason to ruin good chemistry by eliminating good characters.
