Peyton: should she stay or should she go?

Quote:/To me, the Mac/Peyton pairing has all the chemistry of a dead fish. And no, it's not just 'female viewer hostility'. I gave her a chance, but something about her sets my teeth on edge. I don't know if it's CF (haven't seen her in anything else) or Peyton, but hopefully TPTB will realize it's a bad idea sooner rather than later./Quote

It isn't female viewer hostility for me either, rather exactly what you said. I don't see any chemistry and something about her just makes me cringe. I actually think for me it is the actress and not the character, but I haven't seen CF is anything else either so I can't be sure. I am with you in hoping TPTB have her leave the show.

I also agree with the poster(s) who don't like that Robert Joy's screen time is cut down because of her. I like him as a character and would prefer more screentime for him.

For some unknown reason her voice really grates on me (and I'm British) but this is only me talking and has nothing to do with her character so I won't hold it against her!!!

As an individual character I have no problem with seeing her as a guest star but if they make her a regular it'll be too much with so many storylines to explore with the other characters at this stage.

I think Peyton/Mac was rammed down our throats too fast too much. Although I personally ship them I don't hate the idea of them together - I thought the actors played their scenes in the last episode wonderfully. Still, I think otherwise they are lacking in chemistry. I think she and Mac are okay for now especially since CSI:NY is character-focused but I don't think she's going to be the one for Mac forever.

I love Peyton. She has this very fresh, ladylike quality about her. I love the fact that she's smart and well spoken, but has these little moments where her sense of humour or underlying naughty minx shows through her otherwise calm exterior. I really liked the fact that when Mac did something that hurt her, she called him on it. Unlike the push-pull relationship Danny and Lindsay have, Peyton and Mac feel much more grown up. Saying that, I don't really give a crap if she's in a relationship with Mac - I like her as a character in her own right. I like how she plays off Stella. I like her interactions with Sid. I like her protectiveness of Sheldon.
Forlani's crying felt real. It was beautifully done. I hate shipping, and I don't really do it. I like well-done characters, regardless of who they're trying to jump into bed with, and Peyton does it for me.

Even though Im like Mac/Stella, I loved the first episode it showed that Mac still has a great body, god is that men hot! But anyways i like Peyton cause it shows that Mac has feelings but at the same time I want Mac and Stella to be together so its confusing.

Uh, I just remembered that in the spoilers for Heart of Glass she says "she died of a broken heart" and looked at Mac funny. I really want to see that episde.

First of all I agree with the HOT comment...*sigh*. I get where you are coming from re the Peyton V Stella thing. It is nice to see the interaction with Mac and Peyton it gives you an insight into both characters, but I dont think she is right for Mac. Someone commented earlier that they dont see why Mac and Stella should get together and compaired them to Grissom and Catherine. I can see their reasoning but Mac and Stella's relationship is closer than the other two, you get the feeling she has been their for him since Claire died, that she understands him, that she has pushed him back into the dating world, thats why a lot of people ship them.
Now I would LOVE to see them together but I dont think it will go that way..

Now back to my point about Peyton, I dont think she is right for Mac (well not based on what we have seen of her so far) I think he needs someone a bit more in your face, confrontational, someone to make him talk, make him think about things rather than do what he does best, hidding behind that stoic mask of his. He needs someone to shake him up a bit to make him fall in love all over again. To me Peyton is to safe, if you get what I mean.

Hope some of this made sence. My point being, based on what we have seen of her so far, she's not convinced me she is the right choice for Mac, but that could change if the writers come up with something more interesting.

thank you for aggreing with me on the hot comment. I know, he is hot.
Anyways, You said that Mac needed someone that made him talk back etc. Everything you said about the woman Mac needs describes Stella. LOL.
I agree with you about Mac and Stella's relationship, I love it when they get in each others faces like in Officer Blue, It shows that they care for each other a lot and I think they have a crush on each other, I dont know maybe Im reading between the lines or is just me, only thing I know is that Mac adores Stella.
AND I ADORE HER TOO.

Well, Mac has been seeing Peyton for over a year. Apparently there's something between them. I think Peyton should stay. She's a recurring character and therefore we don't have to see the shippy stuff thrown in our faces every week.

I've always seen Mac and Stella as very good friends. Stella worked with and knew Mac back when Claire was still alive. I'm sure she was friends with her too. I just can't see them as anything more than great friends and co-workers.

As for Frankie, too bad they turned him into a lunatic because I liked him and Stella together.

Too bad Frankie died, he was fine.
Mac and Stella do have a beatiful relationship.
Mac and Peyton have a weird relationship, I like the way she rubbed her hand in his chest, it was hot.

^^Ok, the Frankie thing just puzzles me.

He followed Stella around, he held her hostage, and then he tried to kill her. Luckily he was too stupid to know how to use her gun and I was glad to see her put three rounds into his sorry ass. Why are you disappointed that he died?

BTW, what's weird about Mac & Peyton's relationship? :(

Weeeeeell, getting back to the Peyton discussion in the Peyton thread...

I don't really give a crap if she's in a relationship with Mac - I like her as a character in her own right. I like how she plays off Stella. I like her interactions with Sid. I like her protectiveness of Sheldon.
I agree that I like Peyton on her own, and given some more individual development, she could be a standout recurring character like Adam and Hammerback. ;) The foundation for a great character is there if they'll utilize it. :) At this point, we've really only seen who Peyton is within her relationship with Mac, but we've seen a bit of her personality. I'm hoping that, if they choose to keep her on, they'll expand her character beyond that. I know the character was introduced for the sole purpose of being a love interest, but I hope they give her a more meaty part. ;)

So, basically, to get back to the purpose of this thread--I don't think Peyton needs to leave, but if she stays, I hope they give her character an identity beyond her relationship with Mac. :D

Mac and Peyton have an interesting dynamic, and I hope that they do keep her on as a character. I wonder how they've managed to work through their last hurdle: you don't just bounce back to the good ol' days after your lover calls you by his late wife's name in the middle of an argument. Of course, this being CSI:NY, we're not going to get any of that backstory...

Peyton does have the potential to be an excellent member of the supporting cast, but at this point, there's so many of them that she may be relegated to a less prominent role --especially if the writers decide to break her and Mac up.

I think, like most NY characters, you take what you can get. We have seen her away from Mac, and those are the scenes I find most interesting. As I've already said, I like the fact she can stand up to Mac. Or even Stella.

One thing I'm not feeling though, is the fact that her and Mac are supposed to have been seeing each other for a year. That's not coming across. They feel like a new couple to me. It makes no sense that he would call her Claire after going out with her for a year. They're grown ups, after a year you'd think they'd have settled down to some kind of easy routine, not still hiding it from the people they work with or dealing with some of the issues we've seen.

And back to the topic - no, I don't think she should go. At all. She's an interesting character and has as much right to be there as Lindsay, who seems to have been brought in mainly as a love interest to Danny. (Sorry, I know I'm going ot get blasted for that comment, but it's not like they gave her a whole heap of individual development, is it?)

Seriously though... writers? We need more BOYS. MEN. Good looking ones with fantastically written characters. You've booted Pino in favour for Peyton, and I can just about accept that because I like her, but seriously. Gimme some eyecandy here.

I haven't seen Season 3, I know I suck, LOL
but I saw this video on YouTube:the one Mac hugs Peyton
and saw a huge picture of them lying in bed.
I was like "OMG who the hell is she?"
I like her British accent but....yeah...
By a video and picture, I hardly know her but I'm not really liking her at all.
I'm glad Mac actually had a love life though.
If you let pick between Stella & Peyton, I'd prefer SMacked.
Stalla & Mac has more chemistry.
