Paul/Brass: I Got a Coupon #2

Re: Paul/Brass #2

I haven't been on in a while, but welcome to Drakkenfyre!

So, anyone got any particular hopes for Brass in Season 9? I'd always be happy to hear the writers explain Sofia's absence by a relationship with Brass...but that might just be my shippy heart all aflutter.

I'd also love if Method Man came back. He and Paul just played off each other SO well. I loved the episodes with Drops and Brass in.

Re: Paul/Brass #2

My SO explained it in the context of the military, that you want to know that the person in the tank with you isn't going to break down into a puddle of whimpering goo when the shells start flying overhead. Still, in this context it will probably just always be a mystery to me.
I know it would be a huge stretch to think the writers planned this in advance because I think the idea that Brass was a Marine was a complete toss-in, but it would be an interesting bit of continuity if his reasons for treating Holly like that went back to his stint in the Marines.

You know, I've ghosted there a bit, but I didn't realize until today when, because of your suggestion, I went and took a look. Great threads there! Of course, I'm happy when this thread is popular, too. :)
Glad to see you over there. It can get about as quiet as this thread but during the season, it tends to pick up. And yes, I agree about this thread. It's nice to see some activity over here again.

I'll admit, I hated Brass at the beginning (who didn't?!), he had such a rotten disposition.
I didn't. I actually hated Warrick a whole lot more. I liked Paul as an actor so no matter which way his character went, I'd still have liked him. And I'd probably have written fan fic to explain how his insecurities and failures made him act like that.

I was thinking of it in the context of the fraternity of police officers and how similar it is in certain ways to military organizations. Sort of in that vein, hazing is sometimes a problem in police departments. So maybe it was kind of that desire that fraternal organizations have to make someone prove himself or herself that brought it about.

But yeah, I also kind of thought that was a toss-in. It's always disappointing when writers do that, no matter how much I like the result.

Re: Paul/Brass #2

Who doesn't love Brass? :D

I like how PG portrays Brass. The sarcasm at times, the interaction with the other CSI's, the oneliners. And PG does a great job, we always have to laugh about him/Brass when he makes a sharp remark.

Re: Paul/Brass #2

Here's one of the Brass man from "DEAD DOLL" in all his glory:thumbsup: He was so concerned in this for his sweet Sara! talking to the scum-bag car dealer!

BRASS RULES

Another cap. of Brass with Grissom in a poignant ep. "No Humans Involved" the last scene where Brass goes to Gil "get you kit" and they find the girl shot to death, in her driveway the eye exchanges between all of them Gil, the parents, & Sara, Brass looking at Sara, who the girl had confided in! the tear rolling down Sara's cheek.. sad ep.:(

Getting this thread back in play again.

Yeah, I hope he's got more screentime than he had in S7 and S8 and it would be nice if they revisited one of his many story arcs that they seem to have abandoned along the way.

I'd love to see Ellie return and a mention to how he's still dealing with getting shot. I mean, nearly dying like that has to have a long term effect, right?

I'd also love to see some subtle references to Brass being in a relationship. And if I'm really hoping, I'd love to see the return of Annie Kramer.

Re: Paul/Brass #2

He'll be as great in S/9 as always, and I'll bet he will focus in on McKeen, he's sharp and intuitive, and he doesn't like Lady Heather, in her last appearance 'TGTBATD" he was antsy and irritated with her, and the last scene "get some help" right on, he know what's up!

TGTBATD

DOUBLE CROSS

Re: Paul/Brass #2

I'd like to see Ellie return to Beaujolais. And maybe they might mention Sofia (Yeah, I know continuity...too much to ask for). At least he may finally get to talk to a counsellor about getting shot. He's one of the characters that REALLY needs it, LOL

Re: Paul/Brass #2

I know that the main CSI's will be going through some serious fallout with what happends to Warrick and I hope they get the "counseling" or "help" they all deserve. I just get the gut feeling that Brass won't get the "help" he so obviously needs.

Abandoning his story arcs is something TPTB love to do with him, and it drives me nuts. That's why, at the beginning of the new season, I become a serious pessimist with Brass...That way if they happen to mention or talk about something that has happened to him in the past, I am pleasantly surprised.

beaujolais and Drumchik , I completely agree about the Ellie story too. I mean, it's been 2 1/2 years since we have last seen her. Back in WtG, they left the story wide open and...nothing. What did she do, fall off the face of the earth?!

Yeah, I'm more than a little bitter about the lack of continuity for both Ellie and getting shot (and dying!). I could go on for hours, but I won't. Just glad that others understand the frustration.

OT, but not really, this thread is at 30 pages?!

I think part of it was a hazing thing, Fraternity of Police, and such. Also, remember her mother was a Lieutenant, in Traffic, I believe. She got Holly the position as a CSI. I don't think Brass or Grissom were too happy about that, the whole political angle of it.

So, I think being so nasty to her and throwing her out there like he did was to see if she could hang, or if she was just a "Juiced in Lieutenant's daughter" as he said.

I like the way that Paul Guilfoyle has altered and adapted the character of Brass. He's more mellow, yet very sharp. He also delivers the greatest one liners ever.

I love the one in "Lab Rats" "Who's the big clown now?" That's probably his best ever, because it was so understated and OTT at the same time.

I finally saw all of that episode this very evening. I'd missed the entire first half and most of the second half for various reasons, but Star Trek Voyager's episode Timeless was the lead-in, so I was so busy contemplating temporal causality paradoxes (and maybe wiping away a little angsty tear) that I was still sitting there when this episode started.

Anyhoo, that part with the clown made me laugh so hard, my sister shouted from her end of the house to ask what I was watching--probably thinking it couldn't possibly be CSI. After I could breathe again, I tried to find a link to that scene on YouTube, but I was unsuccessful. Ah, well. And I agree, it was hilarious and understated.

Oh, and interestingly enough, right after my SO and I were watching Ending Happy, when I said to him (because of the ever-changing autopsy results), "Hey, I don't think Brass has ever been to autopsy." Of course, he went there in that particular episode. Heh! Anyhoo, are there any other eps in which he actually visits the morgue?

I know in the episode "Last Laugh" he does, because there's a question regarding an exhumation he wants Doc Robbins to do, and they actually have a few words about it. Other than that....I can't recall off the top of my head.

I know in "Hollywood Brass" he talks with Robbins on the phone from L.A., but that's it. Those are the only interactions I recall Brass and Doc having.

Re: Paul/Brass #2

Don't forget Fallen Idols...Remember Shiela DFOs in his office and he goes to the morgue after the autopsy to make sure his office "wasn't to blame."

Re: Paul/Brass #2

There was also "35K OBO", where he's at the morgue, watching Warrick make those molds of the knife wounds.

And CSI_LV_AF, I think we need to start a "Bitter About Brass Getting the Shaft" anger management group. I know a few others who'd happily join as well.

Totally changing the subject here but this scene both annoys me and amuses me. It annoys me because Doc is grilling Brass like a) it's any of his business and b) Brass works for him. It amuses me because Brass doesn't let it get to him at all and plays it off. But seriously, why is Doc generally pissy to Brass?
