Opinion On CSI Becoming More Character Focused

I'm all for it. They've given us six years worth of these characters we've come to care about and be interested in; I'd love to see more development. As long as they can maintain the balance between good cases/science and the human element, I'm happy!

Right on, korbjaeger

I think it's a good thing, no GREAT thing :D.
It's about time, actually ;)

YES CSI is a forensic show. YES cases should prevail over the human element *hell, this is not Days Of Our Lives , BUT it doesn't mean that there should be NO human element AT ALL  :(
On the contrary, it is essential.

This is no Discovery Channel documentary about forensic  This is a TV show, dealing with forensic science, and the people who use it to solve crimes.
Character development is logical.
They are human *yes, they are* and not just some kinds of robots solving crimes because that's the only thing they can do. They can feel, too, you know ;)

We've been watching these guys work for 6 YEARS now
We've become attached to them. It's always interesting to know how they deal with cases, their feelings, their life outside of CSI.

I mean take Grissom for example  This guy's a mystery!! Intriguing, weird, eccentric, private, 'in his world' ... who's never wanted to know a little more about him, huh? ;)

if s6 is any indication of how they will approach being more character focused then definately not. horrible.

I'm with you and Muzzy CoolCatz
Not everyone will be happy with the Relationships so I dont think it will be a good thing in that aspect
But if we found out more about the characters backgrounds and why they became CSI's it would be okay

I totally agree with you GrissomFREAK - I think if it was only about the science, the other 2 CSi shows would be as popular as CSI LV.

The show's success in my opinion is due to the science as well as the magic between Grissom's team - it's all about finding a good balance ...

A good thing only if the cases are good. And as long as crappy stuff happens to somebody other than Nick. I mean, honestly; getting buried alive, losing evidence, having two stalkers, getting abused as a kid by his babysitter? :(

I know that on CSI:Miami, they focus a lot on the personal stories of the CSIs. Takes away from the science and the cases. But, this I can say for CSI:Miami -- they know how to do drama. Good show.

I need another choice. I want personal storylines, but not the characters getting together. I mean personal like meeting Warrick's Grams, learning more about Sara's childhood and how it affected her. More about Gil's mother. Does Greg have any other relatives then his Papa Olaf? I want to see the demons that Nick has had to face since his torment underground. I want to see that Warrick lives somewhere besides his locker. Get the romance crap out of there, bring in the reasons behind those characters we love so much!
Mix it with some great cases to solve or leave us pondering, teach us some more science jargan and I will die a happy death!

I think it's a good thing because then we can tell what makes em tick and gives us insight into why they are like they are. I love the science of it all too - and if they get the balance right I think it could do the show a world of good. We don't need it to turn into Grey's (LOVE that show too but it'd be disasterous if CSI went that way) - but I think a little more insight into characters' personal lives will hugely benefit the whole series.

Especially with the new GSR revelation :D Next season, they can't just ignore what was shown in the final scene of season 6.

I don't mean that it shoul overload on the characters but depth would be fantastic. I mean, look how much the revelation about Sara's childhood benefitted her character and how people perceive her.

Plus, I'm a GSR geek and wanna see what happens lol.

I loved the balance between the science and the personal storylines tptb did in Season one. But in the next seasons we saw how drama and romance were horribly handled, definitely those are not CSI's forte. If they do the character development the S1 one way--we learned about Greg's love for coffee, we got a little peek into Nick's personal life, etc.-- then its all good.

I think we need to more about the character's life, and more of who they are.
Sure, the science is good, but seriously, who really wants to watch a show with all science and no characters for a whole hour?

It's time that they want to fucos more on the characters. But I hope that they really do it this season, because I already heard last season that it should become more character focused.
And we all know that it wasn't the case.
So, I'll cross my fingers that this season will be better than the last season.

GOOD THING this is not FORENSIC Files
I agree completely. What are they going to do, give us glimpses into the life of the announcer guy? "She then... <breath> walked out to the car, like my girlfriend Jenny did... <breath> last Saturday when she... <breath sob> broke up with me. <creepy sound>"
I am all for the more characters, I went for Good Thing, but I do still love that they are all workaholic nerds, and no amount of ridiculusly hot sex with one another will change that, whether we see said sex or not.

I too liked the way they handled personal storylines in earlier seasons. But the direction that S6 seems to be taking the show in makes me think that the death bell is tolling for the show. The cases are getting weak in favour of the relationship business. Bad thing.
