Re: Nick Fic Song Fic Challenge

If anyone is struggling with ideas, here's an explanation of the song as quoted in Wikipedia.

Radiohead members used to tell one another that they would call "the karma police" on them if they did something wrong. The joke was incorporated as into the lyrics and title of the song.[8] Yorke explained that the song was about stress and "having people looking at you in that certain [malicious] way, I can't handle it anymore".[9] Thom Yorke explained the idea of the lyrics to The Independent in 2006, saying, "It's for someone who has to work for a large company. This is a song against bosses. F*** the middle management!"[5] Yorke and Jonny Greenwood emphasised in interviews that the song had a humorous bent; Yorke said, "[It's] not entirely serious, I hope people will realize that."[9] The song includes the line "He buzzes like a fridge/He's like a detuned radio", a reference to the distracting, metaphorical background noise Yorke calls "fridge buzz". Yorke has said that the idea of fridge buzz is one of the primary themes of OK Computer;[10] "Karma Police" also shares themes of insanity and dissatisfaction with capitalism.[11]
That was actually my inspiration when I used this song years ago in "This Is What You Get."

But my story pretty much copied the video..so now I'm going to steer away and try something new..ack.

Thanks for the info myfuturecsi :) I think Radiohead would be happy with you fic "This is what you get", you exactly showed what they wanted to show with the song.

Well I interpreted that song slightly different, what could be because of my lack of English language... hope it's okay though...

Just found out that writing in lectures can be pretty entertaining, even my profs don't think that way...

Now I'll start typing it and reread it a thousend times before I'll let someone take a look at it... just want to spare you as much beta-work as I can Smokey, because I know that you'll get confused with the tenses I want to use...

That's why we're doing this...to see all of the different interpretations. :)
And Smokey is doing a happy dance because she came up with an idea this morning on the way to work!

I've got it planned out in my head...now let's see if I can get it down on paper.

Well mine is fairly simplistic compared to this interpretation....Wow! Guess I went the easy way.

I'm going the easy way on this one too! Maybe on the next one I can get a bit more complex. :D

Re: Nick Fic Song Fic Challenge

Ok, I know this is too soon, but can I throw my next song out there for consideration for a fanfic?

How about "Nothing Man" by Bruce Speingsteen.

It's a moving song, abound in genre possiblities (angst, love, slash, pre-slash, general, character death, action, and for the truly creative; fantasy, cross-over, and who knows what else.

Let me know what you think? I could be wrong in the choice.:) Like I said, too soon for the next Nick song fic.

What can I say, it took me a day to write the last Nick song fic, in the meantime, I wrote myself into a corner on my latest story on fanfiction.net. Dang, I hate when that happens. The song fics are fantastic encouragement to return to my long story.

Anyway, take a listen to the Springsteen song, and consider it for the next challenge.

Take Care All,

Kell

Re: Nick Fic Song Fic Challenge

Well I was so proud of coming up with an idea and now??? I sit there with 3 new possibilities how I could finish it up... and everyone is as bad as the other... think brain, think

Now my whole concept sucks... every time I read what I wrote till now I find something new I erase... damn...

Write that one in my lectures and what I can come up with is based on the lecture, you know how boring it is, how I like the prof and so on... I guess it'll take me at least another day or two to finally have a finished first version...

Great that you finally got an idea for your story Smokey and myfuturecsi :) Writing it down, shouldn't be a problem for you two :D

What Kell??? You already finished yours??? Here's all my respect for you and for Nicksfriend too

I will certainly add it to the list, Kell!

What do we all think about the random choosing of the song? Is that working for us, or would you rather put the songs up here and vote on them?

Personally, I think it's kind of fun to do the random thing and see what we come up with. :) That's the challenge of a challenge!

Easier said than done! It's coming slowly but surely!

Re: Nick Fic Song Fic Challenge

I say pick one at random. I picked the number last time, so I won't the next time and so on, so everyone has a chance to pick.

Now, I've been wondering. We're not suppose to let anyone read our stories ahead time or be beta'd by a person in the challenge.

So my question is this, are we voting on them or something? Do I know the answer to this question already?

Just wondering what the plan is and no, I have no idea what I'm going to write about. Ok, maybe a little, but...

The idea with the song random picking is good. I think we should do it that way :)

Voting??? I don't know either... Smokey what do you plan for our fics???

Well Speedy I'm sure you'll write a great story. I started writing mine but I'm sure at the weekend I'll start again :D

I'm thinking that we will just leave feedback (constructive and positive, not mean....obviously!) for all of the stories. And afterward we can reveal who the authors were.

I just think it will be kind of fun to do it without knowing who wrote what until the end. We may be surprised! :)

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Re: Nick Fic Song Fic Challenge

Yeah, that could be very interesting :shifty: and, well, a little scary too.

Reviews always scare me. :shifty:
