I love NCIS at the moment. Started watching full time on Tuesday. One thing I only remember hearing once though, that I now forget, is why Tony calls McGee "Probie"?

I don't remember why, but I want to know, and I'm sure someone in here knows, I didn't know where else to ask.

"Probie" is a military term for "newbie". When McGee joined the team, Tony started calling him Probie. It just sort of stuck. Gibbs' mentor still calls him probie as well, so it's just one of those things. Hope that helps!

From TVguide comparing all the premieres.
Kudos to NCIS for its season-opener fakeout. I’m not a big fan of season cliffhangers that get fans all freaked out by threatening to “change the show forever,” when it’s clear that won’t be the case. But in this instance, I was fooled into thinking new boss Rocky Carroll was at least going to stay a bad-guy adversary. He’s not. Reassigning and scattering the team was just a ploy to give Gibbs a chance to smoke out a mole in his new team. As the episode ended, the team was being reassembled, not aware that the actual double agent was still on the loose. (You could see that coming, but it was still rather satisfying. Lots more satisfying than Monday’s ludicrous CSI: Miami opener.) I’m still more likely to watch House than NCIS most weeks, but as I watched last night, I kept thinking: The fans are going to love this episode. Unlike all those who are still disgruntled by the unnecessary tide shift over on House.

Good coming from a guy that doesn't make an effort to watch lol

OMG I missed this first time round lol
Welcome luf100. It's never too late to find the delight that is NCIS. I hope you have the opportunity to watch the earlier seasons because this great premiere stems from years of previous great episodes.

Welcome, luf100!

A little off topic, but I just realized a couple things. I've been watching the mini-marathons of recent NCIS seasons at USA.
The first, and saddest thing I realized, seeing all those epis one after another, was that Jenny really was in love with Gibbs. It never could have worked out, given their differences, but I'm now a little sadder about her death. They loved each other, but Gibbs knew he couldn't make a deeper relationship work.
The second thing is that the first made me begin comparing Gibbs with Horatio Caine on CSI Miami. For all the hype about what a great actor David Caruso is, he's never once been able to make me believe in any relationship Horatio has had (except the non-relationship with Yelina). Whereas, with Gibbs and Jenny, I was always able to sense what was going on and why. And even in other trysts, I sensed how Gibbs mind was working each time. Mark Harmon came to acting after he was a star football player at UCLA (he's also the son of one of the greatest college football coaches of all time, Tom Harmon, and was the brother-in-law of late pop singer Ricky Nelson). How is it that he's so good at this while DC is so bad and unbelievable at it? Anyone else agree, or am I way off on this?

Thanks, yea, I watch reruns on Showcase Diva every day, I've seen quite a few of the old ones. I actually liked Kate better than Ziva. When I found out Kate had died I was like... :( lol. I liked Kate and Tony together, not that Ziva isn't cool.

rahkira i have to say i'm 100% with you on this one. I personally don't understand how CSI:Miami is the number one show across the world (no offense to people who enjoy this show), I mean i like the show but find DC quite annoying and dare I say arrogant. I mean the only time I felt the little bit of emotion from him was Speedle's death, and that was ages ago. It seems they've rtied to make him a superhero or something when in real case he's just a Detective who's meant to be a CSI but never really does anything.
For saying Mark is from a sporting background I think he has done incredibly well. He never seems to fail to deliver an awe inspiring performace. The emotion he displays seems true and real and not over the top or lack luster. He also has a sense of humour and caring about him that transpires onto the screen. It also amazes me that NCIS and all of the actors have been overlooked at the Emmys and other award shows.

I know what you mean luf100. I adsmit that at first I wasn't a huge Ziva fan but trust me I can't imagine the show now without her and her Ziva-isms!

^^ I agree... I don't know, maybe it's just for theatrics and the semi-comic book style that the actors of CSI:Miami have mentioned... I feel like the last time the show was really good was when Speedle was still around... he was almost a grounding character... I'll still watch Miami to keep up, but it's not as good as it used to be (in my opinion).

But, anyway... Welcome, luf100! :)

Thanks for the pics CSI_Kat !!! :)

lol at wet McGee, sure Tony made him do it.

Is the guy with Gibbs in the pic from 6x04 his father?
