"MEAT JEKYLL" Discussion **SPOILERS**

Did anybody else think Henry was acting strange??? He took the package and placed it in the refrigerator, the dead body in the morgue just happened to have the number found in the box and then his strange reaction of not wanting to go see Nick in the hospital? What was with Henry? Surely I am not the only one who thought something was strange.

It's probably because it meant going together with Hodges and Wendy, and after the incident in 'Field Mice', I'm pretty sure Henry's a little wary (even though it was Wendy who was doing the sabotaging). =)

But it was Nick, his friend, that was in the hospital. I just don't know... but we had three scenes with Henry and I couldn't help but to feel just a little wary of him. Something is not right.

I thought it was a great episode, and had to laugh at the way the writers presented Dr. Jekyll as if he were the culmination of the story, when of course it was Haskell all along. Great acting (though of course I'm with others who noted that at manipulative as Haskell is, with all that Ray knew about him, surely he wouldn't have stood so close to the bars).

Well, it will be interesting to see where they go with this next season. Since we all know that Laurence Fishburne has signed on for another season, that sort of takes the suspense out of it. Interesting speculation about Henry. I did think he was acting oddly, but then Henry always been a bit of an odd fish.

I enjoyed this episode to some extent; it was way better than last season's finale. Unfortunately, the bad outweighed the good for me.
The opening drama just completely turned me off. Where did all that security go when Haskel was at PD? I think Barney Fife was looking after him.
This is going to be controversial on this board, I'm sure, but I don't think the writers know how to write strong female roles. I'm sorry, but Catherine came off bitchy in this episode, whereas Ray and Nick were the heroes, as well as the sympathetic victims.
The whole Jekyll storyline has been lame from the beginning; now that the motives and identity have been revealed, it seemed even more unbelievable.
I did think LF did a good job in this episode, but I will silently wish for a limited contract for next season. Sorry Ray fans (and CM), but I can take him or leave him.
Jorja was awesome, Greg was cute, Brass was grumpy (which PG does very well!), and, I agree, Henry was a little weird. I think Henry needs Mandy back; it seems that their characters are never in the same episode anymore.

Episode score: 8 out of 10 from me.

Part of me wanted to hate it. All the drama leading up to it. All the 'what ifs', all the misleading hints as to what will happen.

And you know what, I liked it. Way more than I thought I would.
I've been saying it was going to be like Silence of the Lambs ever since they announced Haskell was coming back. A theme I actually liked. Ray was bound to be involved and ultimately hurt one way or another with the return of Haskell but over all it played out well.

Tell me this though, how does one make a shiv out of plexiglass glasses frame? What did he use to sharpen it? Again, not that surprised about Haskell getting out. More Silence of the Lambs references.

And since we knew who Jekyll was before the episode, I was way more interested in the WHY part. I know, at least according to Grissom, that we aren't supposed to ask WHY, but that's me. :) That storyline was less pleasing than the Nate Haskell/Ray interaction.

I loved the team aspect of this. No one got really put into jeopardy. Nicky got shot in the shoulder and did a great job of playing dead. I think I heard all the WARD girls gasp when that happened. And to me that scene worked better than what could have happened or what all the tag lines and hints were leading us to believe.

Catherine and Brass, OMGOSH! What a great scene. Two very strong minded individuals butting heads. It was so great, so well done. Neither one of them were going to back down. See that to me is more real, more of what I think happens than all the CSI's out in the field pretending they are cops.

Which brings me to Cath's line about "I'll bet you say that to all the cops."
I was like 'so now YOU are a cop?' But it was a great line. I loved the fact that they didn't have to flashback to Cath's dancing days for us to know how she knew that guy. Great job there.

And since I was gone most of the night talking with a REAL Sheriff's Deputy about how to properly dust for fingerprints and how the Forensic specialists really work,(we've been having crimes in our neighborhood so we had a block watch meeting last night) I missed hearing all the SQUEEES from the Cath/Vartann fans when they were together. I still am not sure exactly what was said, my mind was too focused on the fact that he was in a suit and was at P.D. the same time she was. I think it was something about missing her in *gasp* bed. And about how she had guts. Well now we know the status of their relationship.

Overall, I really liked this more than I thought I would. It had just the right suspense to keep us getting but it wasn't over the top like dreaded it would be.

Of course, I'm going to watch again to see if I can add anything else.

 for the Season 10 finale.

Plexiglass will grind, just like anything. He used the floor/walls probably. But that actually makes it even MORE unbelievable. Are we supposed to believe the officers a) didn't search him right after he gets TAZERED and his GLASSES fall off. Hey, idiots, his GLASSES ARE GONE. And when you find the glasses, how about you make sure they are intact?
b) he's left alone without a guard. There were freaking SWAT guys escorting him, and all of a sudden he's left with some chubby guy. There should at least be two guards, for god's sake. One that can calm the other one down.

and finally, that they didn't notice he was rubbing something against the wall/the floor all night?? He'd have to be huddled in a corner to hide the thing, and make noise to hide the noise of the grinding.

Don't even get me started on Ray leaving his back unprotected to Haskell.

I still haven't watched the episode but I want to ask you a brief question:Is everyone OK?I hope we had no deaths(I'll be so pissed if Nick is dead).
Thanks in advance and don't spoil me that much.

Please, let me help with that. :)

Vartann: You've got a lot of guts bringing him here. But that's what I like about you. Now I know why you were up so early this morning.

Catherine: I wish I'd stayed in bed

Vartann: Me too.

ETA: Grissomrules. Everyone is ok, sorta. We're not sure about Langston, but I think we all know he'll be ok.

First I watched the episode. Than I read all the comments. And now some of you will probably hate me. So, I apologise in advance to all the Cath and Ray fans.

The ep was good. Not the best of the season, but really good. I hated Catherine because of Brass. I have seen that many of you said how she`s grown into the superviser role, but from where I stand - she is not a good one. She is, as someone said it already, bitchy, and she`s full of herself. Those head movements drove me crasy. And now, because Ray is badly hurt, her position is seriously threatened. All the more because she went over Brass`s head. We`ll have to wait and see if she`ll still be on the show in the next season.

Nick. Poor Tex. I don`t think that anyone could do what he did - be so still while in pain and bleading - but he`s the one and only. What can I say, aside for my reaction to his calmness (REALLY), he`s my hero, as always. Greg is cute, all grown up and finally looking as old as he is. I love the guy.

Hodges is now my third favorite character. And I apsolutely hated the guy in the beginning. Which brings me to Ray. I still don`t care about him, but I supose that if he would to be on the show for as long as Hodges is, I would grow to like him. I`m just not sure how all of you still think that he`s gona live. He was stabbed in the kidney, people, there are so many blood vessels there, and kidneys are sensitive to trauma. Signed contract or not, if he lives it is going to be like a story from the X-files. Don`t hate me, I have nothing against the guy.

Now, who ever said that writers don`t know how to make a female character, they were right. We need a good, strong, realistic female on the show. Sara`s good, but not what she used to be, and I am so sorry about that. Wendy could be excellent, if Cath leaves and she becomes the new CSI. Even Riley would do if they would return her.

Henry is creepy. And yes, he was strange. And now, he would not go after Hodges, it would be too obvious. He works for the CSI lab, he`s not stupid. And he would be the most beautiful thing, it is so him, clumsy or not.

This season is all about the team work. And they were all great, except Cath. She is not good team player, at least that is what I feel after all the seasons, and especially after this one. She seems to have the need to look strong, and I have nothing against that, but she`s doing it all wrong. Or the writers do, what ever. Nick, on the other hand, is more of a team player. He`s good at following orders, and he`s good at giving them. Greg is starting to be good at listening. Ray was good too, and he had/have enough iniciative to be a great esset for the team. I never mentioned it, but I loved when all of the graveyard came to his place in the previous ep. Sticking together is what they do best.

Okay, so now I`m going to stop with the rant. With not caring about Ray and not liking Cath I didn`t want to offend anyone, it is only my humble opinion so plese don`s flame me. Thanks.

^ Nick was shot but survived and Ray was injured at the end.And I hope he makes it.In the past few episodes he has grown on me.

Actually, I think it was Catherine who was interested in the "why?" part. Back in 1x05 Friends & Lovers with Nick
--
C: We still don't know why.
N: It's not our job to know why. It's our job to know how. You heard Grissom. The more the 'why', the less the 'how', the less the 'how', the more the 'why'.
C: Hey, Nick.
N: Yeah?
C: Grissom's not always right. Do yourself a favor and think for yourself. I mean that as a friend, okay?

And Heather, have you stopped  over the C/V scene yet?!

As for those who questioned Henry not wanting to go to the hospital to see Nick, it was DEFINITELY because he would be going with Wendy & Hodges. He was looking at them and seemed still a bit squicked from his last ordeal with (what he thought was) Hodges (when it was actually Wendy). And the funny, sappy looks both Wendy & Hodges had when they turned to look at Henry kind of squicked me out too!!!

Hey thanks for filling me in on the C/V scene. I watched Erica's clip on YouTube as well. :D

Kay, I'm gonna drool over this for a long... long time... ;)

Oh I forgot to mention, I loved when Haskell mentioned Grissom. What did he call him, the unsettled fellow? Is that right. Makes me miss Grissom.

Have to agree with a couple of the posters... you have a dangerous serial killer and all you have is a Barney Fife wannabee watching him?!

This season finale left me a bit perplexed and confused, I saw George Eads last night earlier on ET, and he said on the Dr. Jekyll that "he's always been right under our noses" but the thing is we've never ever seen this Charlie guy, show apparently it was him:confused: only Nate Haskall, who was for sure the star of this episode.

The beginning, with the hugh police escort bringing him down from Ely, NV. to talk to them Brass "A limo for him, like's he's Paul friggin' McCartney" Brass has been a bit snarky as of late. Cath and him arguing and Ray just listening Cath saying Ray should talk to him, with Brass saying "are you saying I'm not doing my job" Ray shrugs, Cath:If he doesn't have any news, will ship him back to Ely"

What a psycho, the cop putting a laser on his waist, he marches down the hall like he's a celebrity, he's so creepy:cardie: Cath 'Well Ray he's all yours, you the one he wants to talk to" Brass: NO one is going in there without me"

Ray: "I thought you wanted to talk to me, but you hung up on me" Haskall: Ah, are your feelings hurt"?:rolleyes:He plays cat and mouse and says nothing relieable at all. Ray is so 'beguiling' so good in this role:bolian: Brass :"You were brought here because you said you had info. on Jekyll murders, so start talking" Haskall : What is it, start talking, or shut up, I don't think I like you" Ray: "You said you had info. about him, Haskall dances all around the topic. he's so creepy:( He states there's evidence in the top drawer of his dresser. Cath calls Nick the team gets and brings it to the lab. Sara finds a little box with a piece of pasta tied into a bow tie. Nick is baffled, and has a photo of the tied intestines of one of the victims.:(

The tender moment between Cath and Vartann, so they're sleeping together? Nick "why am I always the last to know"

On Dr. Jekyll Haskall says "relating to the Robert Louis Stevenson novel that Dr. Jekyll was the good guy Mr. Hyde was the freak~

Ray : "How do you know Jekyll"? met them at a resturant. and begins rambling again, and Ray keeps his cool he wants a steak dinner Ray :"If you want to get something, you've got to give something" Haskall: "You need me, I don't need you, I'm going to have some fun and if you don't like it, send me back to Ely":(The team discussing it and Ray goes"'He's very smart and likes to mix the truth with lies"

Cath with her old friend of sorts [Marty Engles] by the pool and he shows her on her GPS where this old Italian resturant is. VENETTIS. The team goes there and Nick kicks in the door:eek: ALL of the victims all over the walls> sara finds the menu w/ the bow tie pasta on it~

Henry and Cath find a list of former employees Henry says "so one of them has to be Jekyll"~

A police artist draws a photo, and she draws Ray, so spooky, still playing his little cat and mouse games. The stripper part which I didn't get at all, what was the pont of that? Ray "I need a name" Carlo Pereni he says~

Henry tells Ray he's got a package from his dad Ray "He's been dead for 10 years" No bomb, but weird wires and tubes wraped in jerky:shifty: with the letters NAYL which interpreted as navel. Ray explains~

Haskall in his cell annoying the crap out of the officer "Shut up"

The morgue with all the corpses & Doc and Super Dave examining them so repulsive and sickening:(

Sara and Greg find blood on the table in the resturant Greg "This was Jekyll's operating table"

Dimasa's resturant with the dad and son Joe Bologna, wow haven't seen him in a while. This to me was strange because we've never seen or heard of them it kinda of didn't fit into the whole scene. Nick and Ray talking to the dad and Nick ansty and suspicious, especially when the son Charile goes supposedly in the kitchen to get wine So Nick tells the cop to go check on him the guy shoots the cop and Nick runs in and on this part I screamed, NICK GETS SHOT I was going NO NOT NICK:scream:.. So he was another crazy cop killer and I guess Dr. Jekyll:confused: while Nick is lying on the floor bleeding Ray is talking to the dad and Charlie while Nick slowly reaches for the gun. Suspensful at this point.. chews nails..

Back in the jail cell Haskall the cop tazzes him cause he said "your mother is the killer and she slept with all the victims before she killed them:vulcan:

Ray talks about his dad a big drunk and tries to relate to Charlie so he'll put the gun down He starts to stand up and Charlie goes to shoot him and Nick grabs the gun and shoots hm GO NICKY:thumbsup: YIPEE HE'S ALIVE:angel:

Hospital, and the gang gathering around Nick so sweet and so relieved he's gong to be OK. Nick asks Ray if that story about leaving his dad in the snow to die was true. Ray "NO, I did leave him there, but he died 2 years later of lung cancer" then they do the fist knock guy thing. Nick: "I play dead good" Ray: You should have been an actor" There so great together:lol: great camraderie~ Everyone is so happy that Nick is OK, and I know all George Eads fans as well~

Brass offers to buy Ray a drink, Ray "I'll catch up with you, give me a minute" and he goes to see Haskall one more time and them He goes "Goodbye Nate" and starts to walk away and he pulls him through the bars and starts stabbing him:eek: what was that weapon a stint, made with what? I was freaking out, didn't expect this at all, dear gawd, what a gripping, unbeliveable ending:brickwall: I love Dr. Langston, he's incredible and I'm so glad they choose him and that he accepted, and obviously he doesn't die, cause he's in S/11. So Nick gets shot and survives and Ray gets stabbed, but I think they'll both be back next season. As a season finale, it was suspensful and intriguing, but not like I thought it would be..I guess I'd give it a high B+

Well, I have just finished watching the episode. And I must say, that while I thought it was really good, it honestly didn't live up to the hype. It was...kinda slow at parts. Riveting in others though!! Don't get me wrong! I had my cushion up to my face and I screamed and cried and squee'ed and literally WILLED Nick to move after he was shot!

But...a lot of it wasn't plausible. Like others have mentioned, leaving Haskell guarded by a single cop who didn't look too...uh...how to say this politely...too capable of handling himself in a fight...should anything go wrong I mean.

I'm utterly, totally and completely, without a doubt insanely RELIEVED that Nick is ok! That he lived and was the hero and that he'll be fine.

Ray? Meh. I won't be biting my nails waiting for the premiere, unless of course tptb are evil and decide that Nick takes a bad turn and his wound goes septic and he dies from it while Ray lives and recovers. That. Would. Be. Cruel.

All in all, it was a good episode and the media hype did it's job in generating excitement and interest. I loved the Catherine/Vartann interlude, and Nick being the 'last to know'. That was sweet! Greg was too cute with the whole 'were you a little girl' question and I :adore: Brass and thought he was brilliant.

So, I'll tune in for Season 11 because my favourite characters will be there, and that is a good thing.

Oh. And one more thing. CM? I :p at you and not in a good way either! Body bag indeed. PPppttttbbbb!!!!

ETA: I also thought Henry was a bit...odd...at the end, but it could just be that he's odd around Hodges and Wendy.
