The first time I saw the movie I was about 11 and I think I've melded all the Catherine Cookson movies I watched at that time into one (I do that sometimes).

Gay is probably more wishful thinking on some people's part although I really think it would suit the show to have an (out) gay detective. But since that is never going to happen I'd settle for just a whole lot more of that swagger in her step and the tough cop attitude. ;)
