    Re: Horatio/DC's Thread #11

Wibble nailed it right for me. How I feel about Horatio Caine charactor. I started watching the show late 4th season. I was going though some very difficult times and I started tuning in every week. It was my way to decompress. I got ahold of seasons one though three and after watching a few eppy's I was completly hooked and sold on Horatio Caine. There are so few people actually like him today. That makes me sad but it also gives me hope. When I learned more about David Caruso I was pleasently surpised. I have met a lot of talent over the years and people are people. You never really know someone unless you can have a conversation with them. Some talent I have met were jems and some ...well...lets just say they were not so nice. Even though I have never met David Caruso personally I would consider him a person with high integerty. No one is perfect and I am sure he has his share of issues and what not but he would be a person I would consider a friend if given the chance.

CSI: Miami means a lot to me. It might not be the best show on the air but it has special meaning to me. I enjoy it, I support it and I hope this show stays on the air for a long time. A lot of people I know do not like this show. It's their loss. They even dislike David Caruso but again their loss. It would seem people don't really understand unless they can commit to understanding David Caruso. He is the rare talent that I am privileged to be able to watch work every week.

    Okay..that was too long sorry.

YAY! The review! *claps* Thanks wibbs. :D It was wonderful to read. I especially loved your take on how Horatio was talking to Ronnie near the end. I've always felt that how he speaks requires the least amount of words. That's what has always hit me harder, and has lasted longer in my mind. :)

And the show means a lot to me as well. I guess seeing Horatio go through all these events, and he still manages to be heroic and able to lift people up even if he, himself is down is just so inspiring and it really puts things into persepective.

Last weeks tv guide had a article on Miami.. It said that they are to focus on the personal issuses with the characters..
I guess that H will start to show more grief spikes towards losing Marisol. Thats all i can remember. They metioned some other things. I have the tv guide but it's not near me so i'll check later.

I agree with all of the above about H. I know the rest of the cast are a bunch of talented people, the characters are well developed, rounded, but H is the anchor, is the container which holds them all together, the star around which they orbit. David is a far more powerful actor than any except perhaps Emily and to diminish his part to give the rest a 'chance' would not be a good idea. I'm thinking let the others glow, sure, but allow Horatio his rightful place! Right? Of course, right! :D

*cries* See, this is what happens when real life takes a hold of me for 8 hours - I miss all the fun. :(

 After reading all that, I thought, "wow, when you put down in writing everything that has happened to H, it seems quite tragic".

Personally, after season 3 I was hoping for a little less drama for H, mainly because I really think he has been through so much. I would love to see a season end on a high note for H, just a little bit of happiness ya know. I've got my fingers crossed for season 5. I really can't stand the thought of any more heartache for him. Of course for TPTB it's all about the ratings and the more drama the better, but hopefully the attention will diverted to other characters. :)

I totally agree with you. I also think that is the reason for Miami's success. People do want to see a hero, someone who cares and will go to any lengths for the victim. I love the other CSI shows, but Miami has that X factor for me because it digs further down the personal spiral.David Caruso has been amazing on CSI Miami, I can't imagine another other actor pulling off Horatios character the way he has.

I would love to have a boss like H.

His probably one of the most understanding boss on television, which, again is another wonderful quality about H. He has his teams best interests at heart and will always have their backs (as they will him). I think that is something that is a lot more prominent in Miami than the other CSI shows. :)

I love the ending with Ronnie wibbs, Horatio was just wonderful with Ronnie in that scene. I'm glad you enjoyed 'Tinder Box'. I also enjoy hearing your reviews, it great to hear what your think of the episodes - it also refreshes my memory a bit.

That's another reason why I like wibble's reviews too. I haven't seen Season 1 for quite some time. The reviews remind me of better times on Miami. The scene with Ronnie was classic Horatio and one of my favourite moments from the season. There are certain things that H did in Season 4 that slightly turned me off his character (particuarly his lack of consideration towards Eric), but there is no doubt that in the first 3 seasons, I had a great admiration and respect for him. There have been positive signs in Season 5 so far, so I am still hopeful. :)

I guess since that reminds us of the better times in Miami, it also gives us hope for the future, so that we may see a possibility of all things good again. :)

Personally, I loved Tinder Box and it was one of my favorite episodes. There were so many elements in that episode that just stood out, and as Tink stated earlier, the show just has that X factor. Tinder Box was certainly one of those episodes that showcased this in various ways. :D

Personally because I was watching the two other CSI's first I have to say that Horatio's character is really nice and he is the boss..If he was so sure and calm about almost everything and he was not the boss I am not sure I would have liked him!

So,I am here to annoy you!..sorry...

I am not sure at all but was Horatio in love with Marisol who is Eric's sister and died?

    Re: Horatio/DC's Thread #11

Oohhh, I forgot to get back to this yesterday, but yeah, I also agree with that completely. I feel I need shows like Miami to get away from real-life and just believe in a hero like H for 45 minutes and feel the satisfaction of doing what he does in each episode, and doing it wonderfully well for that matter, too. Yeah, I know it's only fiction, but it's like having something to hold onto, a drug that can lift you up when things are going downhill, and yet addicting at the same time so that you want to watch more and more epis :) Sometimes I just want to switch off from everything else around me and watch an amazing man do great things that you don't see every day. I think if a TV show can make you feel like that, then they're definitely doing something right.

Now, you're all making me blush about these reviews I write  You're all so kind :) And in fact, I now have Freaks and Tweaks to review as I watched it last night.

With this episode, I think two main points stand out character-wise. First is when H loses it with the guy who taunts him about his brother. I'll also add here that this is the first time we really get some proper detail on Ray.

Now, I don't know the full story about Tin Man, only what was mentioned in the episode, so I don't know if he really was a bent copper who was into drugs and what-not, although I don't recall H denying it when the guy was teasing him about it. You could see H's inner struggle with this, and the first time we see H lose it physically with someone. For a moment, I thought he was going to punch him  which seems most unlike Horatio's normal controlled and calm self. Anyway, I don't know if it made H angry because it was true and he was embarrassed because H is a good cop and what his brother did was against the law, or whether he was mad at the suspect because he was saying all these things about his brother, and they weren't entirely true because it wasn't the whole story. By that I mean Ray could have been an undercover cop trying to bust a drug ring or something *shrug*. I'm not sure because not enough was said in this epi about what happened, though I'm looking forward to finding out more about this storyline :)

The second thing is H's kindness to the girl who was kept shut in the hole. Even though she was a meth user, H still tried to help her and didn't judge her too hashly. I think he respected her choice of going somewhere to get help and clean up her habit. So that was nice, especially when he sees her off in the taxi and says "I'll be here if you ever need me". Awwww :)

I also liked the dramatic opening to this epi, similar to the one in Tinder Box. I feel spoilt! I'm glad none of the team were injured in the explosion. When Delko set the bomb trigger off...crikey!

Freaks And Tweaks is a great episode. I remember when I first watched the episode, my favourite part was seeing H run out of the warehouse. "Eric, Run!" I don't why I love that part so much, I just loved the way Horatio knew instantly that something wasn't right in the warehouse - it's like he sensed it before it happened. Excellent.

That was the first episode that you started to learn a bit more about Ray and that there was more than meets the eye, it was very interesting - especially when he asked Speed to burn a copy of all the notes. It's also the first episode where get to see Suzie (she's wonderful). I loved the way Horatio stuck to his word at the end of the episode with Suzie.

Towards the end of the episode, I also thought H was going punch Chaz. I think Frank thought the same thing. His face was a picture.

Another one of my favourite parts in the episode is when Horatio asked all the tweakers to hold out their left hand and he came to one of the tweakers (who's hand was shaking quite violently) and says "Oh boy". His facial expression was priceless.

I watched 'The Score' last night and it's just awful. Aerosol is sooo...I don't mean to sound umm mean but she acted so dumb and naive it's disgusting. She doesn't even know that she's under arrest, and that whole conversation of buying marijuana for her cancer friends just don't get any 'aww...' points from me. And the horror of it!!! At the end of the episode, she invited H for dinner and H said he didn't think it's a good idea. They should've ended the episode there but they just had to have Aerosol have her way. I can't believe that look on H after that. It's the beginning of the loss of the real-H. I checked on CSIFiles episode guide and read that Suzie and Madison were supposed to be in that episode. They finally scraped that part off. Although it's just as dramatic for H, it would've been so much better to have their storyline than Aerosol's. :(

Excuse me for talking about S4 coz this is where I am now and I need to vent it out.

    Re: Horatio/DC's Thread #11

I have several topics here so settle in, take notes, the test is in how well you can answer:

Other than that party a few months ago, a couple of pics on the beach and the 100th ep, have there been any candids of DC put out there? Is he making any public appearances for the show this season?

In Freaks and Tweaks: in the scene just before he says, "Eric, run!" did you notice that, first, a drop of liquid fell on his sleeve and he sniffed it and looked up. Just then Delko had removed the lid to the box of photos making a comment about porn and that is what caught H's attention because he knew there had to be a trip wire attached to the lid of the box. The man, after all, is a bomb expert. He knew the smell of a chemical used to make bombs, knew how bombers think and put two and two together just in time. Heh, the man is a wonder.

Zippy, I think you have it so right about Marisol, who doesn't even know she's under arrest! They probably removed the scenes with Suzie and Maddy because the reference to H dating Marisol who is Suzie's age was probably a little more comparison than they wanted right then. As dingy as Suzie was she was certainly more 'real' than Marisol.

    Oh, perfect picture! Tnx
