Re: Horatio's Thread #5 - Will The Real Horatio Please Stand
I watched a few minutes ago the rerun of 'slow burn' here in Austria. This was such a good episode. Horatio was there for Alexx, he asked twice if she's ok. He talked to julie at the end and he talked to the mother of the dead girl. a lot of touching moments.
Honestly sometimes Horatio annoys me (*hides from H-fans*) but while watching season 2 I like him more and more again.
Re: Horatio's Thread #5 - Will The Real Horatio Please Stand
oh yes i watched slow burn too yesterday i just love season2 horatio !! i think it's a very good episode and the corpse they found in the glades was one of the disgusting ones i think ... (not the first one the second one the girl i don't remember her name)
Re: Horatio's Thread #5 - Will The Real Horatio Please Stand
I think Slow Burn was one of the most depressing episodes that I've ever seen. The music at the end adds to the sadness, and it just tugged on my heartstrings when Horatio was talking to the mother on the phone. He was so sweet.
Re: Horatio's Thread #5 - Will The Real Horatio Please Stand
ya ... but what i didn't get why does he tell the mother that she didn't suffer ? is it true and i just didn't understand the episode or did he tell her to make her a little bit happier or something like that u know what i mean ...
Re: Horatio's Thread #5 - Will The Real Horatio Please Stand
That eppy was depressing but again, I love how Horatio goes out of his way for the family of that girl (calling up the mother before he met Frank for beer and burgers). I admit that I did not like Horatio charactor when I did not watch the show on a regular basis. I believe one has to watch the show consistency to see all of Horatio's facets. The more I watch the more I wish there were more people out there like Horatio.
Re: Horatio's Thread #5 - Will The Real Horatio Please Stand
And he also wanted to give the mother some peace of mind and closure. That way it softens the blow, and allows her to heal knowing that someone was with her daughter, and she wasn't alone or in pain.
Even though, we obviously know that wasn't the case but it was terrific of Horatio to do that nonetheless.
Re: Horatio's Thread #5 - Will The Real Horatio Please Stand
Well that and who wants to hear that "he was writhing in pain and blood is everywhere" I know I wouldn't want to hear that. Sometimes you say what is best, to preserve an image of what he was not how he died. The mind is great at giving a bad image.
Re: Horatio's Thread #5 - Will The Real Horatio Please Stand
y'know i was so pissed that they did practically nothing about Speed's death in H's character.
sure H got a bit mad at Rebecca about making a deal with a cop killer. but that was it. I was looking for some angsty!Horatio. but no! and then in the season 4 premiere, in the confession, I was all "OH this is it! we're finally seeing that he can't deal with it anymore!!"
boom.done. no such thing apparently! I thought even H would show some sort of emotion after Lost Son. but no. he is a man of STEEL!
Re: Horatio's Thread #5 - Will The Real Horatio Please Stand
I had to read Lost2muchspeed's post twice to realize it was about a charactor in the show and not me. Geeze...kinda wish they would of called that DA by a different name. I am still working though season three eppy's so I am not privy to the Rebecca arch yet.
Like I said in an earlier post I wonder how much more crisis, agastey type stuff Horacio can take. You would think if they put that guy through much more he is gonna end up loosing it and end up in a rubber room. I will say that I have noticed in season 4 he has lost some of the charactoristics that I loved about him. Not much emotions or reactions to things. The team seemed more independent and he delegated a lot. His reaction to Marisol's death was kinda flat to me. Way different than with his reaction to Speed's death. As with a lot of posters here I too hope they bring back some of the old Horacio back. I miss him at times.
Re: Horatio's Thread #5 - Will The Real Horatio Please Stand
I'm a great believer that Horatio needs his family around him to bring out his human, vulnerable side. This season, he has been so detached from his team and really quite indifferent towards them. I'm hoping that in season 5, he's there for them more and that we will hopefully get to see him interact with those people in his life who mean so much to him. That is the Horatio I miss so much. He's also far more interesting around them too. We get to see the chinks in his armour.
Re: Horatio's Thread #5 - Will The Real Horatio Please Stand
I completely agree Luce. It's no coincidence that some of my favourite episodes involve H's family (Grave Young Men, Big Brother, Money For Nothing, Pro Per, Hell Night, NTL etc). They reveal yet another layer to his character and one that I like very much. He is so loyal and caring. He really would go to the ends of the earth for them and Yelina too.
Oh, and great pic! Thanks. 'Simple Man' I believe?
