4th grade science class - we dissected SHARKS. Dogfish. They were somewhere between 1 and 2 feet long.

7th grade Life Science - Frogs of course. My partner was a normally quiet kid who enjoyed stabbing and cutting far too much.

10th grade Biology - Haven't done it yet but we will dissect fetal pigs if we don't study forensics. We were doing notes on mitosis/meiosis when my teacher got a phone call. She answers it, hangs up, the excitedly exclaim's "THE FETAL PIGS ARE HERE!!!" I don't like dissection. It's gross. Especially since I have lunch RIGHT AFTER bio.

Yeah, Selina, we did cats... and everyone freaked out, wondering how I could do it, because I'm a notorious cat-lover, and the one I was dissecting just happened to look EXACTLY like my cat. It was weird, but I'm science-minded like that, so I could detach myself, y'know?

    Thanks for the welcome :D

What's dissecting a pig's heart like? cos i have to dissect one in biology in a couple of weeks. when i was doing physics, the other class had to cut them up, and we could all see loads of the class hiding outside, so they didn't have to do it

Oooh I forgot to mention a pigs heart! That was so good! It's not that gross, it just feels like a wet piece of meat of pork or even chicken. Oh, you might feel compelled to poke it with the poker all the time, I did.

My science teaher cam in with a live rat on his shoulder and said that we have to kill the rats ourselves before we have to disect it. And i said no way im not doing it if i have to kill it. Sorry i'm a animal lover! But he was only kidding with us, so they were already dead, luckily!

 :eek:That was very mean of him!!!

I'm so glade, that our rats were already dead when we dissected them.

I had rats once, too, and thei are really smart animals.
Ok, not everyone may like their tail, but it didn't disturb me.
One of them was even watching TV with me in the evening.
She was sitting on my shoulder, and watched the movements on tv.
    It was so funny.

tell me about it... i'm studying to be a biology major so it's not really a big deal.. but it was really disorienting the first time i did it.. and the smell of formalin kills.. it rises up the nose and it like freezes your brain..
and it's hard to study the anatomy when you're fighting the urge to throw up..
