I wouldn't say Ausiello lies. IMO he just exaggerates things he gets from TPTB of the hit shows to get attention from viewers and to generate buzzes and hypes. If he lies about everything, he wouldn't be so popular and EW certainly had no reason to recruit him from TV Guide. In fact, a lot of things he had siad did happen, just not as dramatic as they sounded at first.
