CSI Level Three
i have to disagree. imo, Grissom was finally back to being himself in Say Uncle. he didn't blindly believe the boy, he wanted to believe him. those are two different things. he agreed without much persuasion to settle the deal through an experiment, and he was the one who solved the case. if you watch CSI from the beginning you notice how similar Grissom reacted in Friends and Lovers. he was just as sad in the end of episode 5 of season 1 when the young boy (played by Milo Vertimiglia from Heroes) was found guilty of murder.I think Grissom is really burning out and this ep I think showed it the best. Grissom a man who bases his whole being on science, ignored the science that was right in front of him. He was believing the boy w/o following the evidence. And in the end for Grissom to say I'm sad we solved this case, nearly broke my heart. he's getting emotionally involved and its taking over his scientific instinct. Hopefully, he can redirect those emotions and apply them to his relationship with Sara.
in Say Uncle Grissom was back to quoting ("Well Pilgrim, let's settle this on the street"), being a mentor (to Riley), caring about the victim, and being eager to solve the puzzle. it was good to see the old Grissom back, even if only for a short time. i think Heather is a big part of it. she proved to be a good friend to him in Leave Out All The Rest.
i like GLH pairing just as much as GSR, and i don't consider myself 'looney'. i think that if Sara wasn't in the picture and if Grissom didn't mess up in LHB they would've been a great couple. the situation is different though, and i still think Grissom and Sara are going to end up together.
