"Grave Danger" Discussion (Beware Spoilers)

Re: Post - "Grave Danger" Episode Discussion/Review ***Spoi

The thing i'm curious about is that when they were digging down to the box, they had to dig a wide area - so what happened to the air pipe from the box?

I wondered about that myself, but the episode was so good I forgot about all the little mistakes I noticed. :)

After watching Grave Danger for the second time I noticed something that made me break down into tears. At the very end when Nick was laoded into the ambulance Warrick and Catherine jumped in. Nick pulled his hand out from under the sheet and grasped at air until Warrick held it. It was a beautiful moment.

Yeah, I always think all these issues around the vomitting cop could have been resolved if they'd mentioned he was sick already, like a flu-bug or something. One little comment could have set the stage.

^^^ And EmilyBlair, I wholeheartedly agree. I've noticed that little moment every time and it always moves me. :)

OK, how bored am I that I went to check on this? :p In the aerial views of when they're digging you can see the two pipes at either end. Also after Warrick's watch beeps you can catch a glimpse of one in front of a shovel. It appears again when Warrick bends down to dig with his hands. I don't think they show up after that.

Agreed! The tears started streaming down my face at that moment... It was incredible tos ee Grissom who always appear emotionless show some feeling.

I thought the exact same thing!

That is one of my favorite moments in the episode. It's very subtle, but it says so much.

You know a couple of times while watching the episode I've meant to look more closely for them, but I always forget.

I bet they do, they just won't admit it. ;)

Re: Post - "Grave Danger" Episode Discussion/Review ***Spoi

i'd like to think that we're very.. um.. analytical. this is a forensics show right - so thats what we're doing analysing - all those juicy, angsty moments...

my fav, heart-wrenching moment is when they open the box and Nick whimpers "No" (i think) and grabs grissom's arm. and when he reaches out to warrick and says his name - man i tried hard not to cry!

Re: Post - "Grave Danger" Episode Discussion/Review ***Spoi

My favorite part of the episode is from the moment Warrick brushes the dirt away from the lid of the coffin to when Grissom says "I want my guys back." There are so many beautiful and touching moments in there.

And for the guys, there was that awesome explosion. ;) Seriously though, the first time I watched that and didn't know what was going to happen, after they pulled him out and it exploded, I think I said "that was awesome!" Very cool, even if somewhat unbelievable, scene. It was stunning really. And hey, explosion! :D

Re: Post - "Grave Danger" Episode Discussion/Review ***Spoi

I like it that we couldn't hear him because it gave us Grissom's point of view and i found it more heartbreaking watching Nick's face saying those words without being distracted by the sound. I don't think it was that important for us to know the exact words it was more about the emotions and they tried to make sure that the audience sort of know what Nick was saying as he pronounced the words slowly and clearly for the camera.

Sure, it's more poignant *now* that I know what he said. But the first time, when Grissom said "No, Nick, you never did," my thought was "Never did what? What the he!! are you talking about?" and it completely dragged me out of the moment.

If nothing else, we should have been able to hear Grissom whispering the words to himself as he read Nick's lips. But to have no clue at all what Nick was saying, there was no context for Grissom's response.

Both of you make excellent points. I would have liked it if they had Nick's voice in the background saying, but keeping the camera focused on Grissom.
