Grade 'Raising Shane'

Yay! Danny is acting like himself again! :D

Hawkes was great and the episode was one of the best New York ones I've seen in a long time....
although I had a funny feeling the junkie had something to with Hawkes case early on.

And that cell phone game is really starting to annoy me!

Thought Danny and the captain were great.
Hope we see them go at it again this season.

Also glad to see lots of Hawkes character devolpment this season.

Can I add 10 + after the 'A'????

+ Pissed-off Mac!!
+ Awkward Mac!!
+ Bewildered Hawkes!!
+ Impatient Hawkes!!
+ Rock n Roll Stella!!
+ Calm an Cool Stella!!
+ Leather Jacket Danny!!
+ Big-brother Danny!!
+ Stand-up-for-my-CSI-fellows Flack!!
+ Quiet but observational Lindsay!!

I need more +:

+ Freaking Fabulous Shane (I mean Ed Furlong).
+ Sad and hurted Peyton (I feel sorry for her).

and

+ Massive Attack Music!!

Re Mac/Peyton, actually I feel Mac was trying to keep ANYONE from seeing Peyton touch him, not specifically Stella. I can understand Peyton's upset. But when Mac called her "Claire", I thought she was more sad than upset.

I still hope they can talk and sort things out, if they are given another chance..

Anyway, overall this ep is the best EP so far.

A+, but it deserves more!!!

I said Hung Out To Dry was the best episode ever. Well, this one is his twins. Even better!!! :)

First, let me scream MR MESSER IS BAAAAAACK!!!
Oh God, i thought this was an Hawkes episode, but it was the Return of the Danno!!!

Great Hill and Gary performance, the scenes at the police station were great!
Loved with all my heart the "I don't know" scene of Hawkes... I was almost crying.

I'm still excited, I watch the episode twice, but I think i'm gonna watch it again tonight, with Hung Out To Dry. Like a CSI:NY movie :)

Congratulations TPTB, this episode ROCKS!!!
And thanks for the Danno!!! :D

One of the better eps of this season, IMHO.
Here's what I especially liked:
1.) Mac locking himself into the conference room to talk with Hawkes, even though he knew the other cops would break down the door and drag him out.
2.) Mac breaking up with Peyton. I never did like her, just generally speaking, and especially didn't like the idea of her with Mac, as I'm a big-time Mac/Stella shipper.
3.) The elevator exchange. Very cool.
4.) Hawkes trying to figure out what was happening and why.
5.) Danny there at the very end.
So. . .a really good ep. The only thing that puzzled me a tiny bit was. . .where did that TOTALLY different CSI team -- the ones who had never worked with Hawkes, or Mac or any of the other regulars -- suddenly spring from??

Great ep all the way around. Hill Harper did great as the beleaguered Hawkes and managed to do it WITHOUT playing the race card too. Nice job to the writers there. Edward Furlong was SUPERB as Shane Casey--he's like the Paul Millander of NY it seems.

Peyton and Mac breaking up was not so great. I thought they were great together, but I can understand why she got miffed about his moving her hand and then calling her Claire. Mac's got some issues he's still wrestling with in his own Angsty way. I do hope we see Peyton back later in the season.

Danny Messer was DA MAN again. Anytime he's got his tough, blue-collar New York attitude, he RULES the scenes he's in. It's also evident that Danny and Sheldon have that Nick and Warrick buddy buddy thing going on, only the White guy is the streetwise guy with attitude and the Black guy comes from the solid upper middle class family. Hey, it works both ways and I dig it.

I don't know if it's just me, but I was half expecting Sid Hammerback to be at the Peepshow on his own time when the DB was found and then having to try to explain to Danny and Stella how he was there before they were! THAT would have had me laughing my @$$ off, but they didn't do it...

A+ for the episode!!! :D

A

Fantastic episode!!! :D Oftentimes when a bad guy comes back, it's not quite worthy of the previous installment(s) (the third Paul Millander ep, anyone?), but this one was not only worthy of the last ep, but damn good on its own.

Poor Hawkes! Hill was fantastic and my single complaint with the episode is that I think he should have gotten more to do. I felt like he wasn't around much in the second half. He was great in the scenes we did see him in--bewildered, upset, angry, indignant.

Danny was great, too. I didn't expect him to be as involved as he was, but it was great to see him pushing the limits once again like he did first season. I love that he wouldn't let Hawkes' case go. I like how Mac was more permissive of Danny's meddling this time--after all, he wanted Hawkes cleared as badly as Danny did. The showdown between Shane and Danny was awesome--after Shane's contact with Mac, I didn't see Danny involved in the final scene. I'm so glad he was--that never would have happened on Miami. Could you see Delko or Ryan going in for a showdown and not H? Never.

Tough Stella is awesome. I love how she laid into the captain after he said he wanted to beat some sense into Danny, and how she and Mac interacted in this one.

Lindsay wasn't irritating. When she sticks to the science and doesn't whine about her own issues, she's tolerable. Barely, but at least she doesn't outright offend.

Loved how Flack ran interference between Mac and the captain! Eddie was fantastic in that scene, but then, when is not fantastic?

I loved it when Mac broke into the room and then locked it. Awesome, awesome move. It's always great to see Mac fired up, and Sinise was perfect in this ep.

I felt so bad for Peyton! Mac was a jerk to pull her hand off his face like that. Private romance or not, he treated her poorly and she was smart to walk away. Still, I'm sorry to see her go because I really liked the character.

Nice to see Angell back, though she still hasn't made too much of an impression on me. She's just kind of there most of the time. I did like her smirk at Danny when he questioned the peep show girl--might she have a bit of a crush?

I think that's all for now--fantastic ep! :D

Finally...the best episode of the season. :D I was growing tired of the lame story lines and office romances. I'm glad they've finally pulled themselves together to get us an awesome episode last night. It was nice to see everyone back in character...(Det. Messer's hot head!) :p.

For once, I have nothing about which to complain regarding CSI:NY. Yes, Mac got to play Superman, but he should have; Hawkes was a member of his team. I was surprised that Mac was so quick to accept any refutation of the forensics evidence against Hawkes, and I wonder why he chose the upfront approach with Hawkes when he did not do so with Flack in "Consequences" or Danny in "On the Job".

Speaking of Danny, it was nice to see a flash of the impetuous, temperamental Messer of S1 and S2. At the same time, the writer did a phenomenal job of showcasing Danny's maturation as a person and an investigator. As Danny told Mac, "I bent the rules, but I didn't break 'em." The old Danny would not have known that distinction existed, much less cared to use it if he did.

Mac, oh, Mac. Though you live in the fabled Tightass Tree nestled in the furthest reaches of the Hundred-Acre Wood, I felt so badly for you when you called Peyton "Claire". Ouch. Just ouch. You're trying so valiantly to do the right thing as you see it, but you're just such a raw wound that you can't.

Nice Flack moment, small though it was. It accentuated nicely that while Flack loves his nerds, he's not one of them. It also shows that in addition to all his bluster, Flack is a perceptive little bugger, because he knew exactly how to talk his captain down without stepping on any toes. I wonder if the captain was once affiliated with Flack Sr. in some way. Partners, maybe?

I expected more of this episode, but I finally gave it an A. Based on the scene with Danny and Shane in the bar. That scene rocked. That's the Danny I like. Great to have him back. I didn't see that twist coming.

I was fearing for a bit Hawkes overkill, after Hung Out To Dry and Murder Sings The Blues now this one, but he was less around that I expected. But Hill was great. The scene with him and Mac when Mac locked thenself in a room was awesome.

For the rest of the story, it was so predictable that the guy Stella and Danny found in the peepshow was the killer, one of the few minus points from this episode. One of the better episode this one for sure, but not the best.

I thought this episode was fuckintastic. I mean sososo good. This show constantly blows my mind.

Mac/Peyton....so much to say not enough time. But he had it coming. OUCH!

Stella/Sheldon....wow... i'm a big Smacked shipper but even I like Sheldon he's hot. So i wouldn't mind. I have to admit Stella and Sheldon do have great chemisty and look cute together.
I almost thought they would kiss. I kept saying 'oh he's leaning, he's going for it' but she kind of pulled away from the hug.

Very nice...that episode is going on my iPod :)

LOVED IT.

I liked the way that Flack had Mac's back -- despite the drama these two have had, it's obvious that no one, NO ONE, messes with Flack's friends and comrades.

Hill Harper was...beyond words. Best actor on TV, hands down. I liked the flashpoint temper, and yet there was subtle points, too, like the way his eyes went HUGE when he realized it was Shane sitting across from him in that booth, pretending to be his lawyer.

Yay for the return of Danny.

So the TV Guide article mentioned new love for Stella...could it be HAWKES? Notice she was the only one that showed up, and they walked out with their arms around one another. After everyone's concern for him, it doesn't make sense that Stella would come alone...unless this is a Stella/Hawkes setup? FOR ONCE, a ship I could really get behind if it actually happened!

That last bit makes me especially excited!

Angell made less of an impression on me this time around, that made me sad because I like her.

The scene where Mac shoves Peyton's hand away from his face in the lab and the scene outside of the building...those were amazing. I felt for both Peyton and Mac, and I odn't even like Peyton much. I don't hate her, but I'm not big on the ship. Still, I hurt for her when he shoved her hand away and I hurt for him when he realized he'd called her "Claire." I hope there's more to come along these lines.

A+, and very happily so!

I loved this episode. Truly my favorite of the season. The writing was brilliant and the performances were spot-on. It was like all forces came together, everyone was at the top of their game and the whole thing just came off extraordinarily well.

Hawkes - I really enjoyed the storyline and thought Hill did an incredible job. We saw emotions we haven't seen in Hawkes before -- a helplessness/vulnerability that is new to the character. Hill does an impressive job playing the full range. I just feel badly for him that, once again, Carmine is a shining star on his big night. Just as we were glued to Danny's nude torso during Hawkes' deep moment in "Here's to You, Mrs. Azreal," Danny dominates this episode as well.

Flack - I loved seeing Flack set aside the tensions between himself and Mac, coming to Mac's aid at the police station.

Mac - I'm really enjoying Mac's more active role in this season. Lately he's been demonstrating exactly why he was selected to lead this cast. The scene between Mac and Hawkes at the police station was great. Although Mac normally listens only to the evidence, when a friend is involved, he takes the extra time to find out if there's something in the evidence he's missing. The evidence was pretty damning, but Mac knew there had to be an alternative explanation.

Stella - Fiery, smart, tough and loyal. This was a nice episode for her.

Danny - Thank freakin' God the Danny we all love was back last night. I really missed him. The big moments for me were when he believed so strongly in a friend's innocence that he knowingly crossed into ethically gray territory in questioning the eyewitness off the record. Of course, that ID was so volative of Hawkes' constitutional rights that even a kid right out of law school could have gotten that suppressed from evidence in a heartbeat. While Danny may not know the legalities, he did know it was wrong and he wanted to do something about it. Also memorable was the end scene with Shane Casey. Danny was clearly apprehensive when he entered the room, but handled Shane with empathy. Danny understands what it's like to believe in a brother who may be beyond redemption and he handled Shane compassionately, yet effectively. Other minor fun points: loved that he stopped to examine the porn when he first entered the peep show place and thought his invitation to the old dude to step outside and see who the geek was was quite funny. Last night showcased the Danny I love. As always, when Carmine is given winning material, he really shines. Danny is a complex character and I truly don't know that many other actors could do Danny justice. Last night reminded me why I crush so damn hard on Carmine.

Voted A+

I so hoped that when I watched HotD and voted A that they would be able to even do better than that. And they so lived up to that expectation.

What I great ep, for all the reasons already mentioned. Everybody was there (except for Adam) and did an excellent job. Great story, wonderfull acting. After watching those 45 minutes it felt like I'd watched a complete movie.

Please let this be a promise for the rest of the season.
