I gave this episode an A-.

On a case standpoint it was pretty cut and dry. I wasn't suprised at any point. The minute the guy said cop I knew it probably was a security guard uniform. So meh.

The reason my grade is so high is because it really is nice to have EVERYONE in an episode. The reason this season is so blah for me is that lack of "team" - and more just filling space.

I love Adam as usual. I'm not sure what he was thinking about when smelling the gold but I'm SURE he had a very scientific reason for it!

So glad Sid is back and action and it was fun to Hawkes working with Sid. I really like them as a team. Sid is awesome and it's so boring to do an autopsy without him.

Having Reed back in this episode was great. He's always been a star for me, performance wise. I think he really did play and young man that learned from a traumatic experience. I really like Mac and Reeds relationship. It's one of the most realistic relationships in CSI NY. Not overdone or anything.

I like how they introduced Aubrey(?). The little notes were cute. Everything was like a sweet little romance story. Hopefullly it'll stay that way. It's also nice to see that Aubrey looks atleast close to Macs age. I always thought Peyton looked much younger than Mac.

An A for this episode entitled 'Pot of Gold' :)

Foremost, the storyline is good for me. The case where it consists of four leaf clover and St. Patrick's day as well as the gold fraud. It is suprising that Sid's doing the computer job. For instance, the face identification. I JUST LOVE IT! Then, I love Stella and Hawkes hair as well. Hawkes's is back to his old self though I love his new one too!

I'm amazed by Reed and Mac's bond as always. Even though Mac isn't his biological father, both of them still make time to spend it with each other even just a short-while. It's far more valuable than those gold bars. In the deli, I'm glad Reed talked to Mac about sometimes, you got to take chances, before you give it to somebody else. It's good to know that he does take this golden opportunity to lead him to a future with someone he loves and cares for.

Last but not least, I liked the last scene where Mac and Aubrey Hunter is in the deli. It tugs at my heartstrings. Mac is just so sweet and adorable!

Not sure if it is all in my head but I have noticed something lately which I am finding annoying. It seems like the actors are just going from one to another spewing out there lines with no emotion. Like say when Hawkes is coming down the hall and all of a sudden Stella will round the corner and "camera on" then someone joins in "camera on" etc. Am I making since?:wtf:
Well being a Smackie I give it an F but I will say the note swapping was a cute intro but that being aside as much as I loved having everybody in this one the characters all seemed "odd" to me. I dont know if it is because they keep rotating everybody in and out or if they keep having reruns but the show is starting to leave me wanting. But i totally agee with PA when Mac gets wind of the missing badge he better rip it out on Lindsey as well, that whole storyline and the two of them make me sick. I never started out feeling that way but they dont even "Like" each other trying to pretend they "Love" each other, well its just not working for me. I guess as a SMACK fan I should be glad the writers are not throwing M/S down the pie hole because if it ends like THAT I'm done..but my lack of interest is slowly dying as I said. I loved seeing Reed but they are starting to turn Adam into some kind of a imbecile. He looked like he was on some of the LSD from the previous episode when he was looking at the gold. :wtf:. To much green,to much overshadowing of the main storyline ..which I am still not sure if it was the "Pot of glod" or the "Pastrami sandwich". Anyway truth be known I enjoyed the romance in the Cialis commercial most of all!

I was glad to see Reed again...(BTW, was it just me or did his demeanor seem a bit...odd? I wonder if that's on purpose, or if it's just because of the story from this episode? It would be cool if they were foreshadowing something for a later episode. As long as it has nothing to do with Shane Casey, anyway.)

yeah, i thought that too....

i really liked this ep, partly because it was so lovely to see a different side to mac :)

i thought the case was ok, it wasn't as one dimensional as it could've been, bringing in the journalists to give a bit of oomph to what could've been something much less simple was a nice idea. and mostly it kept me wondering/guessing, so that was nice.

it was nice to see thingie from 90210 as well, looking almost as naff in those suits as he did in the early 90s!

it was lovely to see everyone working together again - adam was particularly good, the bit in the vault was excellent, and i loved his teamwork moment too (and not just because he said "toast"!), when mac did that thing with the gun and he said "how does he do that?" - mac's grin in response was nice too. it was good to see them sticking to their story from last week of mac being into the science, it was a neat link. i was watching hush a few days ago and mac described himself as "science obsessed" so i never doubted his scientific mind as some people did last week i think, but it was nice to see it backed up with some actual science.

as for reed - i never much liked him before, i always found him a bit whiney, so i was pleased to see him being much more mature, and definitely good to see him bossing mac around a bit :D it was nice that they seemed to have a connection.

and as for "the other thing" - i liked it - a lot. and i don't do romance, but it really was very very cute. the whole 39/40 thing was great, it was a nice little device, as were the letters. i also enjoyed the matchmaking efforts of mr deli, and overall it was so lovely to see a different side of mac - it shows how far he's come since s1 when he would never make the first move and then if he did get asked out it was some major ordeal, this seemed really natural. and there was clearly a chemistry there which is good because it was badly lacking with peyton. oh, and i *loved* when he choked on his coffee, that was a total squee moment :D :adore:

i'm giving it an A, mainly because i can't remember an awful lot of the case. i loved the mac stuff, but i was so focussed on it the rest has faded a little, which is a shame.

I gave it an A+.

As an Irish by heart, I really enjoyed the St. Patrick's Day theme. My personal highlight was when Flack spoke Irish again. I especially loved Flack's quote about the Irish temper, and that he'd have his under control. His sarcastic tone and facial expression was priceless, and cracked me up so much. Eddie's great & passionate performances light up the whole show, and it really never gets boring with him. He's the reason why I still watch CSI:NY and always look forward to it like a little girl on Christmas Day :). I also liked the scenes between Mac and his new love interest. I think she was brought in a very tasteful and classy way, and I'm curious how things will develop between them.

Same here. I sometimes feel they're just reading the script.

Simple case with no frills, no twists and no surprises. Nothing horribly complicated, nothing really interesting. Solid and simple, not memorable.

I found the number 39 & number 40 thing corny as hell, but I can live with that.

So... C for me

Ian Ziering's in this ep? Weird that its on the same night as Gabrielle Carteris shows up on Criminal Minds just an hour earlier.

I thougt the same thing

I don't know if I can live with it but I completely agree that it was way corny. I thought I was the only one. I still haven't made up my mind about her but the letter thing did not help my first impression. The jury's still out for Aubrey in my case...

The rest of the episode was ok. Didn't exactly hold my interest at points but it wasn't flat out boring either. Adam made me laugh with his "it's so pretty" comment (or something to that effect). :)

this epi seemed a little dull I am not a big fan of CSI:NY but one's I have watched didn't put me to sleep like this one did I had the epi figured out halfway through.

To my Dear poster friend Lori K. :) I know you are a true devoted smackie and you didn't like Aubrey. Don't be sad. :( The way the writers are going this year, their going to just drop the storyline anyway. :scream: So cheer up and hang in there. That's what us Adella fans have been doing

Liked it all the way around...

Loved the meeting between Mac and Aubrey. Nice to see Mac really smile.

Loved Flack. Not impressed with his Gaelic though. Even I know what "Erin go braugh" means...and I'm Scottish. :) Love the snark and sarcasm though. "They want to boil you like cabbage!"

Reed has grown up! About time...The Cabbie Killer did some good!

I love Adam and his dorkiness. My son laughed at him sniffing the gold bar--Do you know how hard it is to make a 13-yearold chuckle at something on network TV?

Rerun next week?? Noooooooooo.....:scream:

Grade = C.

Not much to say about the case....It bored me silly, and by the end I wasn't even paying close attention to the who's, why's, or how's of the crime. There were a few nice character/ team moments -- Adam with the gold, Mac raising the serial numbers, etc. -- but nothing really standout.

Nice to see Reed again from a continuity perspective, but something about his attitude towards Mac still annoys me. It's like he takes Mac's interest, concern, and support for granted -- almost as if he's entitled to it. At least some of that is probably due to the restrictions of this show's format -- we tend to only see Reed when he needs Mac's help -- but it'd be nice to think they have an ongoing relationship and actually spend time together other than when Reed needs something (which I guess is what their last scene together was supposed to suggest).

The more interesting part of the episode was the B story -set up of Mac's new romantic storyline. Overall, I thought they did a nice job with the intro -- much better than with Mac's previous love interests. I thought the letters were a bit much, but the opening and ending scenes were fine, and I could envision a scenario like that where two people could meet briefly, feel a spark of interest/attraction, and decide to take a chance on getting to know each other better. It was something new to see Mac pulling out the charm :), but they have been loosening him up for awhile, and it didn't seem too ooc, especially since Aubrey actually wrote the first note, and Mac sorta needed a little prompting from Reed as well.

As for Aubrey as a character, it's still too early to tell. I really didn't see enough of her behaviors, etc. to judge personality. There was something a bit "cool" about her demeanor that didn't quite mesh with the tone of the first letter, but it could be that the actress is still setlling into the character. A better test will be in follow-up episodes (assuming there will be some for her), when presumably they will have been dating for a few weeks, and a different type of dynamic (and chemistry) will be needed. For now I'm staying neutral....I tend to see Aubrey as more "plot device" as opposed to long term love interest at this point....Also I think there is a "purpose" to the relationship (other than providing cute and happy Mac moments :)) and will be curious to see what particular plot/storyline emerges as the relationship progresses.

Yikes! Looks like we may have more than one rerun coming up before the next new episode....I knew there would be more breaks coming but thought they might space them out a bit. I guess they want to pick up again in April and build momentum into the finale. Hope that works for the sake of the show and its ratings....

Not to worry my friend my chin is still up! You'll not catch me sitting in a corner drowning my sorrows in green beer half crocked singing "Danny boy" You Adella fans have a few years "catchup" to us Smackies, we have been waiting.......

O.K. So really, as cute as Adam is NOBODY was reminded of the scene in the previous episode when James was looking at the fly in the interrogation room as reminiscent of the way Adam was looking at the gold bar?:lol:

Danny and Lindsay were good last night. I didn't sense any tiring D/L drama. They were good working together. Mac and Aubrey's relationship was also good. I just hope the writers would make this a background story, not every episode. I don't watch teen dramas so I don't want them during CSI: NY.

Aside from comeback of Reed because it was wonderful and the debut of Mac's new love interest because the setup was pretty childish, the episode was forgettable. :( C

Anyone know what Flack said in Irish? Hope they use subtitle one day.

I think it's 'Ireland forever' or something similar.

I just had to come post this because...forget Danny/Lindsay or Mac/Aubrey or whoever else - this is the most romantic moment ever seen on the show:

I think it's true love, you guys. :adore:
