Although, again, the fact both Danny and Lindsay have brother's and (I assume) not a sister between them I do think it'd be nice to have Stella as godmother.
We have no idea if or how many siblings Lindsay has.

We know that Danny has a brother (who after being beaten within an inch of his life was never seen or heard from again) and three uncles (one of them is construction). Lindsay has an uncle in New York (that she stayed with when she first moved to NY in Season 2, I think his name was Fred), Hawkes' Uncle Frank recently died, Stella was an orphan/in foster care, Flack has sister & his dad was a cop, Adam's father was a bully & Mac's father was in the military.... I think that's about all we know.

Although I am with everybody else - did Danny go out to Montana on his 2 week suspension? I just assumed Lindsay had come back.

And Flack would endure fighting with his now non-existent brothers in order to have some of his Mom's corn beef hash.

We have no idea if or how many siblings Lindsay has.

Actually we do. When Danny was on his 'we're going to have a boy' naming mission he told Stella that his mom had two boys and Lindsay's mom had three boys. I'm assuming from that comment that Lindsay is the only girl in her family.

Now for the baby stuff. I don't doubt that the scene with Lindsay and Adam was supposed to be funny, it was, but she did come across as a little abrasive. It's the second time she's been like that with Adam (as in 'I need to pull rank'. I personally don't count the 'get your little ass to work' as abrasive because I found that hilarious). Now, I'd excuse any woman in labour for being abrasive, but this got me thinking about how tptb want Lindsay portrayed. It certainly seems to me that theywant there to be a little tension between her and Adam. Lindsay shows her frustration with him, whereas most of the others have accepted his quirks, albeit with a little eye roll here and there. I actually like how Lindsay and Adam are played, it's realistic that while we as viewers love him, his colleagues are going to get annoyed with him, that's the joy of his awkward personality. I remember when Lindsay walked up to Danny and Adam when Adam was giving Danny the financial adivce (can't think which episode specifically off the top of my head though) - Adam suddenly looked much more nervous as she approached. He certainly seemed a little scared of her here as well. But, at the same time he stayed with her while she waited for Danny. Go Adam!! I love him even more for that.

Adam is brave in the face of danger! Interesting observation about him being nervous when Lindsay approached that one time he was talking to Danny in the hall. I agree that he's not entirely comfortable around her, and she definitely doesn't give him reason to be. Those two clash--it would be interesting to see that played up a bit. Like maybe Lindsay and Adam have to investigate a case together?

I was really confused about the Montana thing. Were we supposed to believe she hopped off a plane and headed into work to announce the pending arrival? Did she just don a lab coat because she was chilly? Or, was she working? In which case why did she have a bag with her and why did she even mention just getting back from Montana? And, if she only just got back from Montana, where did Danny spend his two weeks suspension? Did he fly out? Details, tptb, details! They really are as important as the main gist of the episode because I found myself distracted by those questions for the next few minutes.

I noticed the lab coat too and wondered about that. And yes, how Danny spent his two week suspension. I assume he joined her out in Montana, but I guess we could find out next season that he's meeting her parents for the first time. So...maybe Danny actually spent those two weeks home on the couch.

I absolutely loved how nervous and excited Danny was. He was like a little kid at Christmas. Kudos to Carmine for his portrayal, it was spot on.

That was very cute. Nervous Danny definitely makes me smile, and there was something so great about his delivery of the line "She knows it" when talking about how huge Lindsay had gotten. Like he'd had much misery over that or something. That really cracked me up.

When I first realised they would probably ask Mac to be godfather I rolled my eyes along with many others. But, as I watched the episode I realised it did actually make sense. In terms of the person who is close to both Danny and Lindsay it's Mac. He also has the moral fibre I would imagine most parents would want in their 'honourary'. Although, again, the fact both Danny and Lindsay have brother's and (I assume) not a sister between them I do think it'd be nice to have Stella as godmother.

It makes sense for the most part. You know Flack will be the uncle who's over every week to spoil her and watch TV with her dad.

I think she was, but that's just me (and Rhonda :guffaw:). Think of the worst cramps you've ever had, and imagine that going on for hours and at regular intervals. But again, I do give them a lot of credit for not making this the front and center focus of the episode.

Well, you guys would know! I know I'd be screaming, lol.

That statement could have meant that Danny's mom had two boys and Danny's maternal grandmother had three boys. At least that's how I took it.

I took it the same way JellyBelly did, but after reading over here I can easily see how it was taken the other way, and that may in fact be correct. Hopefully somewhere down the road we'll get clarification.

Ahh, I hadn't thought of it like that. Danny did say 'my mom had two boys, her mom had three' so it could have meant his maternal grandmother. But, I read it on the back of Stella's 'you and Lindsay may have a girl' as him referring to his mom and Lindsay's mom. Maybe we'll never know. :)

So crime and an entire office of civil servants take the day off so Lindsay can squeeze out a little bundle of something or other.

We learn early on that Danny's two week suspension is up and yet Lindsay is freshly back from Montana, so how exactly Danny spent his two weeks off with her while she was in another state we're really not sure, but asked to suspend belief again.

Her line: "I just got back from Montana and I'm not ready to deal with you yet" ruined much of the first half of the show for me. Not only did that one line completely screw up running timelines but she managed to mention Montana and be a bitch to Adam again all in one breath. Honestly I still have no idea wtf her problem with Adam is but she needs to step off. Maybe he's not ready to deal with your whiny, bloated ass after such a well-deserved break for the whole office.

At least the first half of the show gave me a highly comical impression of Mac from Adam. That saved that whole scene.

For Mac, the only person short of Adam, Sid and Flack who seem to be getting any work done while this is going on, the episode is reminiscent of The Closer but this time it takes them over 15 minutes to get around to telling us just what the hell it is that has Mac so suspicious about this case to begin with. When he finally reveals to Flack about the shoulder thing, I'm not sure I buy that he wasn't subborn enough a year ago to have figured this out then.

Secondly, Mac pretty well says outright in this scene with Don that what Nevil did at the scene of the accident was just so decent he couldn't bring himself to believe it was the truth. That says something far more interesting about Mac than it does about the case and they neglect to explore it at all.

And then we add the cheese. Danny rushing to the hospital with Hawkes' help while he calls her repeatedly, wondering why she can't pick up a phone when she's busy trying to squeeze something the size of a watermelon out of her who-ha, but don't worry because despite the fact that this is a NYC hospital and on a good day is probably half as packed as the Bronx Zoo they bump into each other in the first hallway he comes rushing down.

Half of this episode plays out during flashbacks, which is I guess the only way they could involve some characters like Danny in it without pulling him away from his own drama right now. It's not a bad idea but it doesn't execute very smoothly and it feels like everyone is popping in and out from the lab to the hospital to the morgue and wherever the hell else they're needed.

When we do catch up with Lindsay she’s already lodging complaints with Stella and I get this sinking feeling that this is only scratching the surface. We're going to be hearing about 3am feedings and colic until we're all bleeding form the ears and for a moment I have a pang of sympathy for Danny. Meanwhile in an adjacent hall Danny's moaning to Adam and I have to laugh that this thing is on the verge of springing from her loins and still these two are completely incapable of voicing their real thoughts with one another and have to dump their shit on coworkers. I'd be pissed to have to work with either of them at this point.

Adam has 600 in the baby pool, well I wonder what he's got in the divorce pool.

Probably the best interaction through this entire episode was that minute we got between Sid and Mac in the morgue where Mac finally breaks down and asks why the hell everyone is so concerned with how he spends his off the clock time and Sid has to point out the obvious for him.

The rest of the episode really happens in a bit of a blur, between long uninspired conversation and the revelation that his daughter was in the car with him, which I'd guess from about five minutes in. While I might have preferred that the goon working for the vending company had scared Nevil into I've seen this plot play out before on both other CSIs, and probably a Law & Order or two. It's not new. It's not inventive. It's not surprising.

The next thing I know I'm cringing at the sight of Danny coaching this kid out of his baby Mama for about 30 seconds longer than I could stand to see and then everyone is standing around ooing and awing at the fresh pink neonate. They make hackneyed quips and congratulations and Mac is given the title of Godfather for reasons we've barely been privy to. Most annoyingly they end the heart warming scene making damn sure not to give us a name in what only comes off like a desperate attempt to retain viewers for these last two episodes. They might as well have had Lindsay start saying "her name is..." and quickly cut the scene with a big bold "TO BE CONTINUED..."

Weak.

ETA: half way through watching the show here, I learned that CBS leaked it on their website. Silly kids. I wonder if that will effect their ratings, or if there was some rhyme or reason to doing that.

haha i would have put A LOT in the divorce pool. :guffaw:
And i was wondering how danny actually got to spend time with his wife when he was supposed to be suspended yet he was at work.
Is it just me or does anyone else feel it is common curtosy to maybe pick up your 8 month pregnant wife from the airport or was he just going to let her struggle home alone?
The birth scene was incredibly cringe worthy dont ever want to see that again!
all in all the episode was not bad i kind of wish mac had just left the case alone but then again this is mac!

It's a plain B for me. *shrug* Reasons? Most of them have been posted here. The baby-related scenes are big part of my disappointment.

I also thought Danny meant that his mum had two boys and his gran had three boys. Though his argument was illogical, as his gran clearly had a daughter, or did his mum have a sex change.

I didn't assume that Lindsay meant that she'd come into work straight from the airport, but that it was her first day back at work since she had been to Montana. The little trolley, I assumed was her hospital bag, though I've never known anyone bring theirs to work with them.

I didn't even think about the grandmother having a daughter. *facepalm* Now that part makes me think Danny was talking about Lindsay's mom, although she clearly had a girl, too. Danny, Danny, Danny. Please to be making some sense when you talk.

I wasn't going to pick at this but fm62 you raise a good point to pick at because this entire scene is a trainwreck. She comes into the scene in a labcoat, which implies that she has been at work for a bit, tells Adam her water just broke, and then waddles out with a red bag rolling along behind her. Maybe her water broke at work and she's wearing the labcoat to cover up the evidence. But if she was already at work, it would stand to reason that she would know where Danny, Mac and Stella were at, so that doesn't work. The red bag could be a bag she packed to keep at the lab, but why is it sitting there in the hallway instead of in her locker. And if she just got back from Montana and Danny is working what did happen to his two weeks with his new wife. So many missing pieces of track on this one. I wish they had done it a bit differently, but then I don't even imagine to be a writer so I will suspend disbelief and enjoy it for the entertainment that it was.

I gave it a solid B+.

I thought this episode was a bit boring until it got to the last 15 minutes, now i'm not a big fan of DL nor of this whole baby business, but I have to admit that even I let out a little 'awh' with the last scene and I really thought that Anna did well portraying the child birth, it was probably the best acting i've ever seen her do! I felt uncomfortable, however, with Danny's portrayal of the loving husband and father. The high-pitched voice (which I couldn't help but laugh at whilst I was watching), the 'hold on, I dont want to miss this. I love you, love you' (obviously knows nothing about childbirth. I thought he was a scientist?) and the idiotic question of why she wasn't answering, durrr, she's not exactly waiting by her phone.

I'm not the type of person who is angered by DL, but I think that its plain to see that they are trying to make the best of the situation thats been given to them, and I think that being a mother might add the strong element to Lindsay's character which she so desperately needs, TPTB have yet to decide how Lindsay should be and this just might be perfect opporunity. The danger is that they just make her a 'mother and a wife', and Lindsay turns up to work moaning about Danny's dirty laundry or that he never wakes up to do the 3 o'clock feed which will get irritating.

I loved Flack's phonecall to Danny, that just made the episode, I feel like we've been denied any bromance between these two in a while, it was nice to see that he actually cares about his 'Danno'.

The case seemed flat, and I guessed who was driving the car pretty early on in the episode and i'm getting very tired of the righteous Mac routine, we all know that he's CSI:New York's version of superman, but, which has already been picked upon, he's getting slightly hypocritical. It was nice to see a more human side to him when he was named the godfather.

During the last scene, all I kept thinking about was who was working in the crime lab whilst everyone was crowded round Lindsay's bed, surely they weren't all given the day off to see this 'momentous' occasion.

By the way, my bet's on Lydia. And is she going to be Lydia Messer, Lydia Munroe, or Lydia Munroe Messer? 'cos that's a lot of M's.

Danny reminds me of one of those folk who when they're telling you a story, they're just making it up in their heads. That's why I love when it's Stella he's talking to, her look tells you she is thinking the same.

This show was less confusing before I joined here. It made sense because I interpreted what was happening, as it was going along. Now I come on here and see what others thought of the same scenes, then get confused. Though now watching the show, i'm thinking, oh the shipper folks will like that bit, the slasher folks will like that bit. Gives me something to do, as I guess the script in about 8 minutes.

:lol::lol: I do the same thing. This was a much easier show to watch before I started hanging out here but this is fun too so even if someone sees something differently, I can turn the computer off and believe what I want to. That's why I don't argue too much with people.

It was a lot better than i expected i wil say that about the episode.

I suppose part of me was expecting a soap fest and it was done well. There was enough there to make it part of the story (Sam in Without A Trace birth was also done really well) Although I did think it lacked in us seeing any DL together I was expecting a kind of almost pep talk from him to her sort of thing but we didn't really see anything.

I loved the interaction with the rest of the team tho shows how much of a family they really are and how important it is.

The case was OK it wasn't amazing but it didnt get my attention straight away i was lot easier distracted. I liked the way it was filmed tho i thought it was done really well so we could diferenciate between the 2 and the going backwards I always love when they do that.

I have learnt tho to ignore a lot of Mac's wise words, it was amusing at them all commenting on his day off like making dig it should be more often. Its nice though to kind of see a bit more of Mac now than we have before being a tad more open.

It was overall done well, it coudl have been a lot worse and the godfather touch was sweet.
