George/Nick:Texan Charm #10

All this talk of George's back problems is making me think of my favorite pro wrestler...he also had at one point two herniated discs in his back about 11 years ago and like George he worked through it until finally having surgery

you can actually read the pain on his face throughout one particular match...it's hard to watch for me so I hope when I watch this week's episode I can block out this knowledge and just immerse myself in George's performance.

I don't think he said anything malicious in his interview. He was being open and honest, which frankly is a breath of fresh air. I hate bullenschtein, no matter who it comes from.

And I totally sympathize with George's back pain, as I woke up this morning with very strange back spasms and have been in pain all day now :(

Come to the frozen tundra and have a drink with me, George! We'll call up my chiropractic step sister and she'll fix us up ;)

First things first! Thread #10! Way To Go!!!!

Now, I found something interesting that George said in that interview, that made me stop

And they're getting excited about writing for me, and that feels good.

I mean that just solidifies what we've been saying. I think it's a shame that GSR had to leave before anything was written for Nick and the others, for that matter.

I hope they stay excited writing for him, so George can show what he's made of.

I was confused by that statement, why weren't they excited before?

Oh yeah, GSR..how could I forget?

I'm a huge baseball fan and my favorite player of all time lost his career to a back injury and I've been thinking of him all day since I heard the news about George's back. It's bad because the fans of the team he was on turned on him because of the injury and it's like a lot of CSI fans have turned on George today because of this interview. This particular player has the same down home, honest, genuine personality that George has as well. I've been living in a weird deja view and I just want it to stop. The fact is that George didn't say anything that wasn't already well-known to the public. People just don't want to hear that the three who left were ready to leave. He simply said that he wants to work with people who want to be doing what they are doing. He never called Jorja a diva either, he actually said he misses her, but people don't want to hear the real truth of what he said.

So true! George only stated a very well known fact. George wouldn't say anything bad about Jorja, Billy or Gary having worked with them for so long and becoming genuine friends with them as well.

I think George is so thankful about being a part of CSI as well as being so passionate about his work so that when someone he works with is not it's felt through the whole team and might give a strange vibe which could make it hard for those who actually enjoy working on the set.

I'm sorry if it sounds strange, I don't really know how to get my opinion across...:alienblush:

And for his poorly back...aww George...I hope it will be fixed soon, without surgery! However having had epidural shots sounds like somewhat of a last resort:confused::(.

ETA: Alright! New thread!!!

For heavens sake, they're all obviously still friends, so (like I ever doubted it) I'm sure nothing was said maliciously.

So I'm reading the paper at work today, and I turn the page and there is the promo pic of Nick and Ray from "No Way Out"! Of course the second I saw it I recognized it, and I went "Oh! Oh! Oh!" and ran over to show my friend, Amy.

It was accompanied by an interview with LF that I believe has been posted already in the news files section. Anyway, I let Amy cut the pic out to put on her computer since, you know, I'm pretty well hooked up for pics already. ;)

Oh but it must have been so hard to part with it, eh Smokey!;)

Because I'm an expert at reviving old conversation and keeping the controversial ones going (LOL), I wanted to make a comment on George's interview 14 Questions.

While I'm hoping one of the two possibilities is true, (A. George didn't mean to sound so 'malicious' with his comments regarding Billy. B. He still has the utmost respect and love for Billy, someone who has been there for him.) the comment about Billy before he left and (George) wanting to work only with people who "wanted to be there" were uncalled for.

The interview would have been totally fine without that comment, and that wasn't even part of the question; they wanted to know if he MISSED Billy, not his personal opinion about Billy's demeanor before leaving the show as an actor. I hate to say it, but the entire thing sounded very not George, and quite frankly, self righteous, like the new 'veteran' position had gotten to his head.

I do NOT want to bash George, & I still support him as a fan, but he could have done without seemingly dissing Billy...I'm pretty sure that was not his intent, but that's how it came off...Maybe it just wasn't his best interview or maybe his mind was preoccupied, but I really hope he didn't mean things the way they certainly sounded.

Or maybe he is on medication for his back...that would make a lot of sense! The man is in pain and when I am in pain I am not at my best either...give him a break please. No ill intent intended, but I am quite over the George interview thing....I still feel a lot of stuff was taken out of context...he has always been a great guy, honest and hardworking...guess that is what I look at when I see George Eads,he is not malicious or self absorbed....I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Criminologist86 you are certainly welcomed to your opinion but I don't think George was being malicious in his comment about Billy. For the last several years George has giving his all to CSI, I'm not saying that Billy hasn't but he has gone and done other things. George hasn't. He's clearly stated that he is there for CSI. Billy on the other hand has been making statements for years that he was wanting out. I think when you get to that position you may not give your all to your current job. I'm not saying Billy didn't but since we aren't on the set and behind the scenes we don't know. You also have to remember that the media loves to twist people's words. George may not have even said some of those written words but the writer choose to rephrase something to make it sound like George was being mean to Billy. Also we haven't heard how George answered the questions. We can't read his tone of voice in written words.

After all the controversy dies down from this interview it will be interesting to see when George gives his next interview. I don't blame him for not wanting to go on talk shows or give interviews to the press. No matter what he says unfortunately his words will get twisted. We can only hope as devoted George fans that when his back is better he will be on a talk show to let everyone know the truth. But George if you continue to avoid talk shows we still love you :)

You know, I'm tired of everyone saying that George was been self righteous, because I have felt Billy being self righteous in many of his interviews too. Especially, how he constantly said he didn't want to be on the set. I mean I get tired of Billy fans acting like he can do no wrong and he can.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Billy and Grissom has always been one of my favorite TV characters, but him constantly being put a pedestal, that he doesn't deserve to be on, is getting tired. No one belongs on a pedestal.

George didn't state anything that Billy himself hasn't said. And having people on the set who don't want to be there can cause problems for everyone who does want to be there. At least George has the courage to say what he thinks and I'm sure it isn't anything he has said to Billy himself.

Can you imagine how it must have felt to him and others involved in the show when Billy has said over and over again, for years, that he doesn't want to be on the show anymore? After awhile, the complaining and whining gets old.

Nope, Billy fans never look at all angles of it. George said he didn't want to sound malicious and maybe he did, a little, but being around people myself, at work, that constant complain, it's annoying.

I've heard people say that George should be grateful to Billy, because George wouldn't be where he is today because of him. That may be true, but Billy wouln't be where he is today if he wasn't hired to be on CSI. After all the years of hearing that Billy doesn't want to be on the show anymore, I think he needs to remember how grateful he should be for being on such a successful show.

I know it's a grind and you can get burnt out and he wanted to go back to stage. I'm all for it, but instead of complaining about it, leave the show and do what you want. I was fortunate to see Billy in November and you can tell he is much happier and I'm glad that he is.

George has always been most critical of himself than anyone else and George's fans can find fault with him too. We don't put him on a pedestal, even if sounds like we do.

ETA: Well said Jacquie!!!!!

You have to remember that George had to stay in the background for so many years. Work loong hours and not get any credit for what he did while Billy just faked it and complained for many years about being on a show he didn't want to be on while George wanted to be there yet got no more than two lines an episode. How fair was that?

I think this interview was blown out of proportion and maybe he said something different or maybe there were more words there and the reporter ony had a few lines to put them in so he/she chopped out the in between stuff and readers were left with just what they felt was the meat of the interview. They've only got so many lines to put interviews in and are on tight deadlines.

That's true. People's words do get twisted in the media. Jennifer Aniston just put out a statment the other day saying that exact thing! So, I don't think you can believe everything you read in interviews. They're most of the time paraphrased and not word for word. And I'm sure George's words were twisted somewhat... I love Billy, I really do, in fact he's why I started watching the show to begin with (I didn't at that time know who anyone else on the show was besides Marg whom I had only really seen in a tv movie with Richard Dean Anderson lol)... but I think people are reading way more into the George interview than is even there. He even stated he wasn't trying to be disrespectful in any way. He even said Billy was a sweet guy. I think the rest was misinterpreted or miswritten to make it sound worse. It's a wonder any stars ever do interviews. I know I wouldn't if my words were constantly twisted to sound mean when that was far from my intention.

For all everybody's comments on this story you'd think it was on mainstream news. It was AOL people. I just did a Yahoo! and Google news search (under the title of George Eads CSI so I wouldn't get Eads Aerospace :shifty:). No mainstream news service has picked it up. And I don't really think they will (at least not in the near future). I don't see what the problem is. None of us know him personally and most of us will never get the chance to ever meet him. Everybody's going to intrepret (I know I just spelled that wrong) what he says however they want to. So be it you intrepret it the way you want to and I'll intrepret it the way I want to. This just goes to show exactly why he doesn't like to do interviews.

Susan

ETA: Think back to the timing and it looks like his back is probably why he canceled the Late Late Show interview.
