Dear Writers...

Oooooooh, how could I forget about Yelina? Yes, bring her back! She might help to tone down Super H until he becomes the old Horatio that was more like a human than (and I say this affectionately) the melodramatic caricature we have now. She was the only one I ever thought he had chemistry with, though I still can't really picture him with ANYONE.

I wrote a feedback form to CBS, I did like the last episode, so this is what I wrote. Sorry if someone feels offended, I don't mean to go against any fan, this is what I'm thinking right no about the show:

I've been watching Csi:Miami since the pilot and never in these seven years I've been so disappointed about an episode.
I'm sorry if I'm offending someone but since I know that if we don't tell you that we dislike a storyline you'll believe we like it, I'm writing this comment.
I think that CSI:Miami has lost what made it a crime show. I can't believe that you actually wrote an episode where we had a long scene about a Delko's daydreaming which had nothing to do with the case and a slow scene with just Calleigh and Eric looking at one each other in the eyes. I was really wondering what I was watching. You decided to write a storyline putting together two CSIs (not really a big news, since all the other show of the franchise had already done it), I am not really happy about that because I think the writers will soon have a lot of problems developing it but that's not the problem. The real problem is that you can't write scenes which seems taken out of a soap opera in a crime show! A crime show is mostly about crime, a CSI show is about crime and science. I've not seen crime and scene together in a CSi:miami episode since maybe season two. What happened to my favorite show? And, above all, what have you done to my favourite character, Calleigh?
Emily Procter is perfect, she is always doing a great job and outstanding performances but Calleigh is not even close to be the character it should be. I know a character has to grow and change but you can't change their nature. She was flirty, strong and extremely dedicated to her job. Now we rarely see her in the ballistic lab, she does these sappy exchanges with Eric and lets her guard down so many times that it is not so shocking anymore. She has been put so many times in danger that we are all asking ourselves if she is really human to survive them and not go to an analyst!
So much I have to say about Eric Delko, a man who has a bullet logged in his temporal lobe and can speak, walk and live like anything had happened. Don't talk me about his memory lapses, because a person who has been shot to their head, has been 11 minutes without oxygen and has still parts of a bullet in their brain can't have a normal life. Most of people who suffer a oxygen lack for half the time he did live the rest of their lives in a bed without moving a muscle. If you wanted him to be a hero you had to choose another thing to make him go through because smart people are laughing at that storyline since the very first moment they saw Eric Delko back at work!
I'm really upset to see how my favourite show has changed for the worst, I'm still watching it because I like watching the fantastic work Emily Procter does but I don't think I will last so much longer if writers keeps on writing these kind of storylines.
Hoping for the best,
Lusiana

E/C - Thank you so much for putting them together and ending the will they/won’t they nonsense. As a fan who loves this storyline I beg you please for once DON’T take a rule out of the TV relationship rule book and do the “I love you/I hate you” drama or the “make up to break up to make up again crap”. Keep them together through thick and thin. Since you went there with the friends turned to lovers (THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU) how about being original and keeping it real by showing that because of that friendship these two are in it for the long haul and their romantic relationship will stand the test of time (including everyone finding out). Please don’t break our hearts by having one of them do something they would never do as a stupid excuse to break these two up. Repercussions aside can we please for once see a stable, caring, loving romantic relationship, friendship, partnership that can be sustained between to main characters? You’ve done so well…please keep it going. That would be awesome.

Ryan/Natalia – For the fans that love these two how about giving them some more story lines. Show their human sides as well. These are the characters that are part of the team and while I’m a die hard E/C fan all the way I love it when you come out of the blue and make me forget all about E/C when Ryan or Natalia are having a crises and the focus is on them for once. How about bringing them back from the fringes and giving them more to work with.

Horatio – Ok, please bring back our beloved Horatio. You know the one that cares about his team and doesn’t hang in the background as someone who doesn’t want to get too close. It’s time to let the man reconnect and reengage with all the members of his team. ]

Frank Tripp – Come one will you give this great character a storyline already. He can do more than rip the bad guys and act like a bull in a china closet. How about showing us the love the crime lab team has for this guy by having them go to bat for him when he really needs them.

I couldn´t agree more ...Let me know if you need a stamp:).

Dear writers

Could we perhaps have a miniturekillertype of storyline on Miama....Not a replica of LV but a storyline for more then one episode that could be tone up and down for a couple of episodes and be more riddlebased then all- out shooting.

By the way....
I have for quite sometime enjoyed your choice of underlining score.....Personal fav. western theme in "All in resuce".

And I do like you have included humour in the dialog: Frank: Who is organising this pinic?

Thank you for a great show

While I wouldn't want a reused storyline, I agree that Miami needs to do something more Riddle-ish. We rarely have those kind of storylines yet they're so fantastic. Those are the ones that keep you guessing and on your the edge of your seat.

Maybe a storyline for H that is similar to what happened to David with that stalker but in Miami style. That would be interesting! Also Ryan family storyline because it sounds so far he is like left out without a family!

I want Miami to have a storyline like the 333 caller in CSI new york or the miniature killer in Vegas.Something to keep us guesing and speculating .

Personally I HATED the minature killer storyline with a passion! I don't want to see anything like that on Miami. I wasn't too terribly crazy about the 333 thing on NY either, but the minature killer is one of my least favorite Vegas storylines.

Dear writes

As a great fan of your show might I suggest a stalkerstoryline. Not making David relive his ordeal. But perhaps have Ryan and Natalia(?) have one stalker each. As story unfolds, we start with the idea of "just one" turning more and more visious(evil).Sending flowers to Ryan and slashing Natalias car.You remember the bikergirl that ramed Calleigh of the road.

And then as team closes in the Ryanstalker we realize that there are two. Giving Ryan a chance to show kindness to the crazy but harmless stalker. (He can take her to an institution of sorts). And then we realize Natalias stalker is......and has actually been cynidposioning her for quite some while.

But the hints should start out extremely suttle for the team and in the begining not apperently be connected. Giving you a storyline for a couple of episodes.

I loved the Miniature Killer story!
It'd be great to see a storyline (other than the typical villians attacking the CSIs ) flow through the entire season that left the team completely confused & unable to solve....maybe even something that ends up being right under thier noses.

& while I'm at it -
  • I've always wanted a crime that took place right there in the station so they'd have to turn their own lab into the crime scene.
  • More gore!!
  • If someone winds up a bloody mess then have the outcome look just as gruesome.....no gallons of blood that only result in a few stitches & a freakin' band-aid.
  • Less of the Miami rich folk *yawn*
  • Less of the plots revolving around married couples, or people having affairs. There are plenty of plain & simple lunatics that make a good crime story. They don't always have to be someone killing thier mate because they didn't get what they want from them.
  • Less of the typical villian stories (as mentioned above). "Bad guys" come in different forms - use that to your advantage.
  • More crime scenes on the beach or perhaps in that beautiful ocean that makes 'Miami' what it is. Ok?
  • & for crying out loud - do something about the team interaction - this blows!
  • More Natalia - More Natalia - More Natalia! (stalker? great idea! see above post)
  • Ryan also - background info would be good, we rarely know anything about him.
  • Continuity & consistency please. ;)
  • DO stop running "certain" storylines into the ground...that's all I'm gonna say. *screams in silence*
  • Do something, anything, with our dear Frankfurter - we adore him.
  • Reconnect Horatio with his team. Ending scene to 'Open Water'? Beautiful-perfecto!
  • Last but not least....ONE moment with the whole team having drinks, playing pool, sitting around a table twiddling thier thumbs....whatever you have to do....just do it please.
Edit: Julia - 6 feet under - 'nuff said.

Dear Writers,
Please, please, PLEASE, give us an episode without E/C. I am a shipper, but honestly, it's becoming overkill.

I know this has been said a gazillion times, but I'm going to reinforce it: The daydream scene was nuts. It was totally out of place, and left me wondering what show I was watching. 'Cause the Miami I know does not let their CSI's have fantasies while working.

Give some storylines to characters other than Horatio, Eric, and Calleigh. I love them all, but the last time Frank got more than three lines in an episode was last season. He, Ryan, and Natalia all need to actually have something to do. Or they're dangerously close to getting sucked into the vortex that Sofia Curtis currently resides in. I'm not a big Valera fan, but I do think she needs a bit more screentime. Of course, I don't think any of the techs should get a storyline before any of the main characters. [[Not that I don't love you, Travers!]]

Kick Kyle out of the lab. I'm sorry, but how old is this kid again? He has no medical experience, and is working with VERY sensitive stuff that could convict a killer.

I'm not even going to start on Tara, because then I'd be going on for forever.

Oh, and if you could kill off Julia, or send her to some remote location, that'd be great. Thanks.

Sincerly,
Laurie

Here's what I wrote to the CBS feedback right after they aired "Flight Risk". I know that this my offend someone, but I do think everyone has the right to express their opinion as long they're coherent and polite.

Dear CBS,

I define myself as a fellow CSI:Miami fan since I’ve been watching this show with so much joy for ages.

I’ve been watching since s1 and I enjoyed it so much for the whole time till the last episode which left me shocked and a little bit frustrated since that CSI:Miami was completely different from the one I learned to love.
I used to know a show which was dedicated to the crime scenes, but with a little bit more of personal lives of the characters. That’s what made me love this show.
It wasn’t all about the characters as it wasn’t all about solving the cases.

As usual hings started to change…with Tim’s death (something which I’ve always been against to, but I accepted it), Ryan’s arrival and the whole mole stuff with Natalia.

But the biggest change, the one which left me shocked was the whole E/C (Eric & Calleigh stuff) plotline which came into play since he’s been shot to his head.
I don’t consider myself as a die hard CaKe shipper (though, it’s one of those couples which made me squee) as I started watching this show just for the crimes and because I love science especially if it helps you to fight crimes and bad people, but, when I see two people having a weird relationship (I do think it’s the worst relationship of the whole CSI: Franchise since I consider it badly written) being thrown to you in every single episode and when I see this relationship interfering with the rest of the show, I find myself a little bit frustrated.

Surely the daydream Eric had while on a crime scene was the worst thing I could expect from this show.

It wasn’t disrespectful towards all the fans who don’t enjoy seeing this couple, it wasn’t just unrealistic, it was also badly written.
Watching that scene (along with the horrible coffee one, which was even worse), I felt I really had to throw up and I did think I was watching some kind of teenage fantasy.

Gosh they’re adults, I’m an adult and I do think and hope you’re all adults and you don’t reason as if you were teenagers. The last E/C things looked to me like teenage fantasies.
“It was like a dream”, in my opinion, was picked up directly from a FF (fan fiction) and, trust me, most of them are written by 15 years old boys/girls.
Same thing for a daydream on you holding your hand with your girlfriend. Probably my cousin (16 years old) would enjoy this kind of daydream even if he doesn’t daydream while playing football.

Unless you want to show that Eric Delko is not ok, as a fan of crime scenes drama I’m not gonna accept this kind of storyline on a show like this especially considering its first 3 seasons.

For this teenage plotline you destroyed more the one thing:
-The show itself, as I know it’s loosing fans every episode especially since 7x16 – “Sink or Swim”
-The team spirit. I can’t really cope with the idea that nobody went to visit Calleigh except for Delko when she was in coma.
-Calleigh’s character. Yep I can accept every kind of character’s development, but making her weaker and weaker just to let her go with Delko leaves me frustrated. Trust me, she’s not my fav. character anymore, because of you choice.
-Emily Procter’s reputation. I’m one of those people who funded that “An Award for Emily” project (Corey Miller knows it and knows me) because she’s never gained and award. I’ve always fought for her to get a damn award, something she deserves considering her acting. When I see reviewer criticising (also in bad way) her job on the show because of horrible plotlines and bad acting of other actors (I’m not gonna mention them because I’m not complaining acting right now), I do get mad!!! I’ve been doing all my best to get her at least a nomination and I don’t see how she can get it going on with this plotline. Of course she’s going to help you with this kind of publicity since she’s paid by you and she’s way too kind, but this is not gonna help her and, n my honest opinion, this is harming her and her fans who are doing all their best to help her!

I’m sorry if I offended anyone, but I think it was a much needed complaint to write so that you could know that not all fans love what you’re doing, especially the ones who are a little bit older and the ones who watched the show since s1.
Not to mention that the majority of the people (all over the world) who watch this show, don’t know anything about shipping stuff and they’re a little bit confused when they look for some news on it (all over the web) and find just cheesy articles like the last ones from TV-Guide and other magazines like that.

And here's part of what I actually wrote to Corey Miller :p

As you may know I’m a fan of this show since s1 and I’ve always enjoyed watching it as I love all kind of crime dramas. In fact, I watch CSI:Crime Scene, CSI:Miami, N.C.I.S., Criminal Mind and so on and so forth.
I’ve always loved the CSI:Franchise since it’s always been all about the crimes with just a little bit of character’s personal lives. It was such an original idea and I adored it because it was something completely new on TV. That’s why I think it had all the success it had been having in it first seasons.

As usual even such a great idea can’t go on without any change. It’s obvious that you have to change something and that you have to put something more personal regarding your characters, if you want to go on succeeding like this, so that you don’t get boring.
But I think that some changes should always be avoided, if you still want to go on with your success. I mean some changes can kinda eliminate the genuine essence of this show and we all know that when you eliminate it, you’re done with that show.

And yes I think you kinda made this mistake with CSI:Miami.
Just look at the last episode the USA people had to watch (I’m writing this email right after 7x18 – “Flight Risk”).
I know lots of American adult people who enjoy this show and enjoy talking about it on forums and I noticed that most of them felt a little bit confused and frustrated by what they had just watched. I watched that episode too and yep I felt shocked, frustrated and angry at the same time.
When I see a CSI daydreaming while on a crime scene and dreaming on him and his girlfriend (BTW his fellow co-worker) holding their hands I miss the real and genuine essence of the show. I mean who watching this show since “Golden Parachute” would have imagined that you could came up with such a teenage and soapy idea like this one?
Surely not me and 90% of the people who watch this show (especially adult people).

Not only the show has lost it, but also its characters because, of course they have to match perfectly with the plotlines you write for them.
I don’t know why you wanted to explore this relationship between Calleigh and Delko. You may have wanted to make the E/C fans (I know that there are lots of teenage people who adore them) happy, but I think that this plotline helped the show losing its nature.
I know that fans, especially the ones who write to you, are important, but sometimes I think you shouldn’t listen to all their ideas because you wrote and created this show and you should go on with your ideas which, in my opinion, were perfect. This is how a show should go on, if you want to have the success you have been having in the first seasons.

Of course, the idea of putting these two together helped you with publicity. In fact since the first time you made it clear you wanted to explore this couple (trust me it was more than 2 years ago), some kind of advertising campaign started to spread out all over the web and the magazines regarding this show.
Whenever a person like me looked for a news regarding Miami, I found lots of articles about E/C love and E/C romance or whatever. Too bad that that wasn’t what I was looking for.
Now that you began this advertising campaign you had to honour your promises even if your character didn’t match perfectly with it.
Surely you couldn’t put the s1 Calleigh and the s1 Delko together, because there was no way you managed to do it. In fact, as I thought you were going to do considering your public intentions, you had to change one character and destroy the other one. That was the only way possible you could make them match to that plotline.
You put a bullet in Delko’s temporal lobe so that he could start having fantasies regarding his “love” for Calleigh. And you had to put Calleigh in every possible dangerous situation so that she could reflect on her life and know that she couldn’t wait for Jake forever. That was the only way possible to eliminate Jake: she had to be with someone safer….Eric Delko.
This may be ok for some people considering they don’t pay too much attention to the character’s original nature, but when I see that Calleigh Duqusne reads Delko’s statements from his shrink’s files, when I see her covering for Delko’s mistakes (the same which put her in danger and the same who made her retake her proficiencies) I feel like I lost my respect for her and I lost my fav. character.
Trust me there’s nothing worst than losing your fav. character! I can’t look at her as the cheerful, strong and professional Bullet Girl I used to love, anymore.

Now my much needed questions are:
-Did you really need to lose the genuine essence of your show (by transforming it into a soap opera from the original crime drama show it used to be) to gain the viewers you actually have just lost?
-Did you really neeed Natalia and Ryan on this show when actors like Jonathan and Eva are so underused?
-Did you really need to destroy the team spirit? I can’t really cope with the idea that nobody went to visit Calleigh except for Delko when she was in coma. I mean how is it possible that Ryan didn’t go to visit her right after she almost died in that damn attic? It really seems that you’re concentrating on Calleigh and Eric’s relationship despite the great friendship between Calleigh and Ryan (it’s pretty evident that they’re great friends, you can see it with the great chemistry both on screen and in reality between Emily and Jonathan) and another great friendship between Calleigh and Natalia (same thing for Emily and Eva). When two people are together, they don’t live together and work together ignoring anyone else. It doesn’t work like this in real life.
-Did you really need to destroy Calleigh’s character by getting her so promiscuous and unprofessional?

That's what I felt I had to write ;)

I would have to say:

-Would love if Yelina came back and the great dynamic between her and Horatio could be explored again.

-Let us know what's up with Suzie and Maddy.

-Thank you for bringing Alexx and Speed back.

-Tone Super-H down a bit.

-We can do without Julia now...

-Every once in a while a scene with the whole team would be nice. All 5 of them together either having a good time or processing evidence.

-More on Frank and his personal life. Gotta love him.

-More Valera :).

-Thank you for finally bringing Eric and Calleigh together :). Love them together, they make sense and have been waiting for it since I started watching the show. Love the way it's been written and that you actually took your time with it.

-Love, love the show :)!!!!! Great work!

Okay, if you're still thinking of how you'll do the EC relationship, together or not. Just think of this:

If you keep it, like now you'll get only a few EC haters and
If you end it you'll get WAY more upset fans.

So which one's better?

Dear Writers:
Three things:
1) Don't turn Eric into some obsessed stalker. Don't you dare! I see the little wheels turning in your head, and the end result will not be pretty. Don't go there! Don't take the easy way out.
2) Not everyone in Miami is a rich SOB. I know you have heard this complaint before. Seriously, what about Little Havana, the Haitian immigrants, everyday folks? Do the Miami CSIs only deal with rich people? Are they just too good for the common everyday slob?
3) An offshoot of the above issue, there is a lot of diversity in Miami. Get in touch with it. Go to the city, drive around areas other than South Beach. Hell, I lived in Naples (where the rich go to die) and saw more diversity there than I can in your cast. Get real.
~Fin~

P.S.,
Julie needs to go now. Seriously. Don't get mistaken about this one: She is not a character we love to hate, she is a character that has been shoved down our throat for too long. It's run its course. Let it go.

I'm thinking right opposite, if tptb keep going with this romance like they doing now, they lost many (i mean MANY) fans. If they end it, EC fans would upset, but really, you stop watching?

Dear Writers, what i wanna see in this show:
1) More H in lab, less SuperH.
2) More Ryan and Natalia. This two need great storyline, better more then one.
3) Where Valera? I miss her!
4) EC is already overkill, calm down, show us more eps without mention this relationships. Or better, break up and forget about this!
5) Kyle, i really like him, more H\Kyle interaction.
6) Julia should gone, i don't care how (die, sitting in prison or just leave Kyle again).
7) Bring Yelina came back!
