CSI: The Movie

yeah, Butterflied is one of my favorites along with Committed. seen both, like, 10 times at least. i even have Grissom's speech from Butterflied memorized, lol. imo, probably one of the best monologues on this show. but i guess it's normal when you have an ep that focuses on your ship. *shrugs*

anyway, i can't decide whether i would prefer The CSI Movie to bring us something completely new and different or to make a movie in the most classic CSI way with humour, gore, science, great camera work, a fascinating puzzle, and a tiny amount of shippiness. cuz i mean, what else can they do? the show is very creative and innovative (which is a characteristic in itself) but it has also established some trademarks. in the end i guess i'd rather have them go all CSI style with a few innovative ideas. giving us something totally new might be risky as we've seen with Mascara. not a lot of people liked it.

I thought that this subject does not fit any of the current threads and is broad enough for a thread of its own.

If this information is right (and his words are not misquoted) it looks like there is a CSI Movie in the works.

William Petersen confirms there will be a CSI movie.

ETA:
forgot to add that i'm very excited about it. :D the movie is probably going to include Grissom's (and possibly Sara's) return.

Well, there was an X file movie around season five and it did well...not stellar but decent, finally grossing around 200 million world wide. I for one saw it five times, not at the end as Petersen stated unless you count that last piece of garbage that aired, totally out of character for both Mulder and Scully... but the first movie I did watch those five times...I am obsessive compulsive evidently. Petersen seems to want a movie but the ratings for the show are basically falling off dramatically so why a movie other than to promote himself or GSR. No offense people, just stating my thoughts out loud. He hasn't been gone long enough for us to really miss him and he is talking about a movie...wait,this is from the man who did not want to have anything to do with CSI,who wanted to do theater and be out of the daily grind and spend time with his wife. And a two parter which would seem to focus on himself and Sara? Well, what I am about to say will tick off a few people but could it be just about the money? He would get millions as an actor and as a producer. Sara too I guess but not as much as Petersen unless she negotiated a really good deal...so what about the others? I smelll a dirty diaper...and I don't have a baby. I just don't buy it,not this soon and not at this time. This is soley my opinion!

I totally disagree with the last post, William Petersen stayed on as ex. producer, and is a multi-millionaire, and is doing his theater work for peanuts. It's not about the $$$$, he's stated that numerous times, maybe he wants to do a movie, because all his fans want to see him and the rest of the team on the big screen:rolleyes: He needed a well deserved break. He will do a movie that will please all CSI fans not any particular agenda as of yet. And the ratings are not plummenting, as of last night CSI came in #1 in the ratings over "Grey's Anatomy" he also has said, he would return for a "guest spot' on CSi in the future. Whatever he decides to do on this CSI movie, and that includes the whole team, it will be a box office hit, no doubt, and I smell a rose:thumbsup:

You must be standing in a flower garden because it doesn't smell like a rose to many of us fans who can actually see what is really going on with this show.It is dying a slow death right now and much of it is to blame on those who quit supporting it when their favorite character left, and that is the truth!

I'm still all for a Monty Python style of movie where Grissom realizes his favourite tarantula has been kidnapped so he goes back to Vegas and recruits his former team and they go off on an adventure to find it..

Hey it would work..

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw: Sure it would!

Yeah, Butterflied is also one of my favourite episodes, although it was dissapointing in a way for me (and that's why I'd like Dr. Lurie to return). The episode was very noir, full of quiet passion and Creeepy!Grissom, but the killer got away with it, we didn't see him have a chance to really confess his feelings for Debbie, whether in a verbal or a physical way, and he never got to see Debbie's doppelganger (Sara). It's a story that has been screaming for a follow-up.

Precisely, to promote CSI the show by making a movie out of it and bringing the hype back. I also sense that they want to do this movie to do what they have wanted to do but would be censored on tv.

I just don't understand. I can see this movie being like The X-Files second movie; WAY past its time, and not that great.

As for WP, he hasn't even been gone that long! But he want's a comeback? The way I see it is, he misses CSI, as he should. But he sees that the show has gone on without him and now he wants back in. I honestly think that is RIDICULOUS to bring him back after a season or two of being gone, assuming they make the movie in the next couple years.

I a gree with Nicksfriend, this show is slowly, slowly dying. If they wanted to make a movie around Season 5 or 6, than I could see this going forward and being REALLY good. Now, it is much past it's prime. I'm all about quality. I do not see a point in making a movie where quality could be compromised solely for money and hype. I mean, there is no real reason to make this movie besides getting the CSI franchise more money and more hype.

Desertwind, with all due respect, you cannot say that he will make a movie that "he will make a movie that will please all CSI fans." because we ALL know that will not happen.

Billy left. Gone! But now, when there is talks of a movie, he's all in there? EP or not, enough is enough. Yes, he deserved a break, but to come back once a movie is mentioned throws up red flags if you ask me. JMO.

well maybe he can see that the show is going down in ratings when 3 main characters left and he wants to help. i mean, we all know that the last thing he wants is for the show to get cancelled after he left. so maybe creating a buzz about his comeback next season, as well as a possible CSI movie, will bring some people back to watching. *shrugs*

he left as an actor, but as desertwind said, he never stated he's not gonna come back or help in whatever way he thinks is best. it's kind of like when you have kids, you take care of them but when they grow up you let them have their own life. it doesn't mean you will never help them if they need it, or never visit them. you just live separately but they are still your kids. he spend his past 9 years helping that show succeed. now the show is on its own and is not doing that great. maybe it's not solely his leaving, but too many changes crumpled in a short period of time. bringing back the old team together and making a buzz about a possible movie might help with the ratings.

i feel that without Grissom, Sara, and Warrick the show lost an essential part. people get attached to the characters especially if they watched them every week for 9 years. CSI slowly becomes just another crime drama, and there is a dozen or more of those on TV right now. the cases and content are still fantastic, but most of the shows are just as good. maybe it's not enough.

I agree with part of what you said. He never said he was going to leave, but why create this HUGE deal when you leave, only to come back less than a year later. Not to mention, if that is what WP is thinking, that's kind of cocky to think that in my opinion. He wasn't the only one that left the show. He isn't the only factor as to why the ratings are low.

hm, idk what he thinks, but he never seemed particularly cocky to me. he said that Jorja will be back as well and she's been an integral part of this show since the beginning too. i think having an interesting two parter (and those usually have higher ratings) plus the fact Grissom and Sara will appear, should give CSI a nice boost.

there is some logic to it, and somehow i'm wondering whose idea is it. is it Billy's or maybe it's TPTB concluding that his departure had an impact and asking him to come back early. and since the ratings are going down, they might be thinking that many people already miss not only him but also Jorja and Gary. can't do much about Gary but Billy and Jorja are available.

Don't get me wrong. I see what you mean, I just wish that this had come from someone other than Billy. Like a head of CBS or something stepped up and dropped the bomb. Coming from WP makes it sound fishy. Maybe it's just me.

hahah, yeah, it is a little strange cuz he left the show and i guess now the leader is someone else. but, you know, he still went to France to promote CSI and that's where he gave all those interviews. i'm thinking it had to be consulted with TPTB. i agree that it would be good to hear it from someone else but it might be still too early for it. who knows?

Completly agree with you. I guess alot of speculations would be put to rest if they had someone BIG from CBS announce it. It would put me at ease, I know that.
