When the house was quiet. Michael tiptoed to his sisters room. Opening her door, he walked in and found her asleep. Pulling back her blankets, he crawled in beside her like he use to do when they were little.

"Michael...."came the barest of whispers.

"Shh...it's okay sis, go back to sleep. I'll keep you safe. I promise."

Turning into her brothers arms, she curled her neck under him and fell back to sleep. While she slept. Michael thought about all the times his sister had called him over the last few weeks, but he was always to busy, or had to deal with his wife's death. He now wish he had been there for her, instead of pushing her away.

"Stop that Michael. It's not your fault, you've done nothing wrong."

"Can you quit reading my thoughts sis?"

"I'm sorry, but I can feel you, just like you can feel me."

Michael knew she was right. He could remember growing up how they would finish what each other was thinking, before the other. It was a game they played as kids.

"Michael...are you scared?"

"No. Should I be? Are you?"

"Yeah mic, I'm terrified for my babies."

"Listen Mac, you have nothing to be afraid of. I promise you it will all be over before you know it has even started. Try and get some rest. I promise not to leave you."

Closing her eyes, she fell back into sleep. While Michael tried his best to close off his mind from his sister.

After Mac had explained everything to Stella, she was in tears.

"Come on love, stop now. You are going to make the baby upset, and then we will be rushing you back to the Hospital."

"I just don't get it Mac. How could one of us not noticed anything. I don't get it."

"Sweetheart. It's kind of hard to notice things, when we very rarely seen Scott."

"I understand that. But for our daughter not to tell us. I don't get it?"

"She hardly knew herself what was happening. She had just started noticing the changes in him over the last couple weeks."

"My poor granddaughters. How are they going to understand all this. How are we going to explain to three four year olds, that their father tried to murder them?"

"Stella...please. Trust in me okay. We will get through this. Us Taylor's are strong enough to survive this. I know we are. Now please try and sleep love, for the baby."

"GRRRwwww, Grrrwwwwl."

"What is that Mac. What are they growling at?"

Michael came running into his parents room.

"Dad...there's someone outside, King and Kong are going insane."

Grabbing his housecoat, they headed out the back with the dogs who bolted to the gate.

"Woof, woof, woof, woof."

Get their leashes Michael. I think it's time for a walk around the beach."

Grabbing King and Kong's leash. Mac headed off down the beach leaving the girls alone.

"Dad....I think we should stay here. Come back dad. We need to protect the girls."

"I'm telling you son. They smell him, they are going insane, we need to look."

"I don't care dad. I'm not leaving mom, Mac, or our children alone. Now get back here."

As much as he knew his son was right. Mac pulled the dogs, as they all returned to the house.

"Turn on the alarm son. I'll make more coffee."

"Michael knew what that meant. For the rest of the night, they'd be playing hide and seek with Scott.

As the early morning showed it face. Mac and his son were still in the kitchen talking when Sharon walked down the stairs, and seen her daddy at the patio door.

Just as she was ready to yell "Daddy", he told her shh!!! with his finger. Walking towards the patio door, she just started to open it when King came out of the kitchen.

"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrwl, woof, woof, woof."

"What the hell is that?"

Running from the kitchen they seen King growling at the door.

"King!!! sit."

"Sharon...what are you doing up sweetheart?"

"I seen daddy. He told me to shh, so I went to let him in, and King barked."

"Where did you see daddy sweetheart?"

"At the patio papa. He was here, but not now."

Picking his granddaughter up in his arms, he just held her.

"What's the matter papa? Yous is shaking."

"It's nothing love. How about some cereal?"

"Can't we see daddy first?"

"No sweetheart. Come on we have your favorite, Frootloops."

"K papa. Uncle Micky when did you comes here?"

"I came last night sweetheart, did you miss me?"

"I's always miss you Uncle Micky. Wheres is Caroline and MJ?"

"They are still sleeping. So tell me about Kindergarden, do you like it?"

"I's do it's fun. But Shannon don't. She cries all the time cause she misses mommy."

"She does. Do you help her feel better?"

"I's try. But sometimes only mommy can come get her so she stops."

As Michael sat his niece at the table the other troops were waking up.

"Uncle Micky.....look Sara Uncle Micky is here," said Shannon.

Sara shyly looked over at her Unlce, before hiding behind her papa.

"Still shy, isn't she dad?"

"She is." Picking up his granddaughter he held her close.

"You remember your Uncle, don't you sweetheart?"

Laying her head on her papa's shoulder, she shook it back and forth.

"Morning everyone." How was everyones night?"

"Hey Auntie.."yelled MJ.

"Well look at you, all grown up and handsom. Where's the baby Mic?"

"Still upstairs, I have to get her changed and dressed."

"I can do that. You stay, I'll be back."

"Wait mommy. Daddy was here, he waved to me from the door."

Mackenzie dropped the glass she was holding, shattering it.

"Oh God. Sorry dad, I'll clean it."

"No that's okay love. You go get Caroline. Kong! Follow."

Getting up from the floor, Kong followed behind Mackenzie as she went upstairs.

"Papa...why did mommy drop the glass and shake?"

"Umm...she's just a little tired still sweetheart. Her body hasn't waken up yet."

"K papa. I have more cereal?"

"Of course you can." Pouring her a second bowl. Mac tried with all his power not to lose it infront of his grandchildren.

Just as they finished breakfast. The team showed up.

"Morning Mac, coffee on?"

"Yeah, in the kitchen Danny. Horatio how was your night?"

"I should be asking you that Mac."

"Ours was really restless. It seems we had a visitor last night, and this morning."

"Mac...umm..are you telling me he showed up here?"

"He did. Once last night, I wanted to take the dogs and hunt him down. But Michael wouldn't let me. Then this morning. He tried to coax Sharon out the patio door."

"Now that...that is bold."

"I know. We need to get this trap in effect now. Before I lose one of my grandchildren."

"Okay. We are just waiting on Natalia, she went to pick up a reddish brown curly wig."

"Are you telling me Natalia is going to pose as Mackenzie?"

"She is. You have to remember Scott has no clue we are on to him. So Natalia will change into Mackenzie, and we'll have our men following her."

"I hope you are right about this. We still have our own psycho out there trying to destroy the new team."

"I know Mac. I know. We just need to trust in each other, we'll get through this."

When Natalia arrived Danny looked at her with anger. He didn't approve of Natalia being used as bait. For one slip and he would lose her.

"Come on Danny. Don't look at me like that, please understand."

"I do Natalia, but I still don't like it. It's to dangerous."

"Look...I have half the police force following me, plus you guys. Nothing is going to happen."

"That's what they said about Lindsay. Look what happened to her, shot dead in a bank, because of all the confusion around. Worse then that, I was the one who killed her. Can you imagine that. My stray bullet killed my wife."

Natalia looked shocked and relieved. For now she knew what Danny was keeping from her.

"Oh Danny. It wasn't your fault. None of it was. You need to let that pain go. You were not responsible. No one was. It was a tragic event, no one is to blame."

"Then why do I punish myself everynight with guilt? Why do I always feel she's never forgiven me, for taking her from our lives to soon?"

"Danny...that's not guilt. It's hurt, pain, dispare. All because you felt you couldn't change things. Know the difference and the pain will stop. Let me love you, let us build something special. I know we can do it. All you have to do is trust in us."

"Horatio...where do I change?"

"Upstairs Natalia, Calleigh and Mackenzie are waiting for you."

"Thanks, I'll see you in a bit."

Walking past Danny, she leaned up and kissed him. "Trust in me Messer, all will be fine."

Once upstairs Mac turned to Danny and said...."you going to be able to handle this Danny?"

"Yeah, yeah...I'll be fine Mac.

Mac hoped to hell he was right. For one mistake and Scott would know they were onto him.

Good chapter. Glad Natalia finally knows what Danny's been keeping from her. Just one question: Who is Macalleigh? Is that one of Calleigh and Horatio's kids?

No,,,just one more mistake. Macalleigh is from another story. I just finished a chapter before updating this one. Too many fic,:guffaw:

Oh, okay. I know you said they had kids, but I couldn't remember their names. :) I updated my last post on my fic a little while ago. I read over it a couple of times before submitting, but yet I just now noticed on one part I put "we've" instead "we're" and now it's too late to edit it. It seems like no matter how many times I read over my fics, I always seem to miss a mistake.

I remember one time I was writing a BTVS fic and the show has a character named "Spike" in it and the movie had a character named "Pike". I brought in the "Pike" character into my fics and then I kept getting confused cause of the similar names "Spike and Pike". I felt bad about it, but I really had no other alternative (to keep from getting confused) other than to kill off Pike in one of the fics.

lol I remember him. One of the tie-in novels featured him but I forget which one.

I hope things work out okay in your story here.

When Natalia walked into the room, she seen Calleigh had out Mackenzie's black slacks, white vee shaped t-shirt, and white sneakers.

"Hey girls. I didn't realize I'd be running."

"Yeah...every morning at 9am like clock work I run the beach. He knows. As he watches me from the house. So you need to be really careful."

"Don't worry Mackenzie, I'll be fine."

Once Natalia was dressed, they put on the wig and had her look in the mirror.

"Oh my God....if I didn't know my own daughter, I'd swear you were her."

"Good. Then this should go down without a hitch."

Coming downstairs Natalia went first. Hitting the bottom stair, everyone looked in shock and awe.

"Holy Christ. Wow. If Mackenzie every had a look alike...."

"I know. Amazing what make up and a wig can do."

"Okay Nat. Are you ready?"

"I'm ready, let's get this started."

With King and Kong beside her, she began running down the beach. As she passed a few people, she noticed the undercovers watching along the way.

Meanwhile....

Scott was packing up his stuff from the beach house. He knew his wife would never understand that they had lost everything due to his gambling. Christ..he couldn't even face his daughter this morning, and he knew Mac was most likely fuming by now. At least if he did it this way, his wife would get the insurance, cause it covered accidental death.

He knew they would look at it like he was cleaning his gun and it went off, or one of his bookies finally caught up with him forcing him to shoot himself. Either way Mackenzie would be able to rebuild her life, and the childrens.

Sitting down at the table, he picked up the gun he had bought off the street with the silencer. With the cleaning equipment in front of him he placed some on the cloth and pointed the gun towards his chest, and fired two shots.

Meanwhile...

He was watching her. He knew it wasn't Mackenzie. For he knew all about their little plan. It was amazing how he had managed to get all that information on the data base, making it look like Scott was after his family. He always had help from criminals who owed him favours. Just like the one who put the bomb in the bear and returned it to Miami-Dade.

Waiting to make his move, he flashed the undercover his badge.

"H asked me to take over from here. You can go."

Nodding his head the officer left.

"Here she comes." he whisped.

As she ran right towards him, he fired. Watching in laughter as Natalia went down. "Sit King and Kong"...he hissed

Not having time to check if she was dead. He took off to the meeting point.

"That was a shot Mac. Move it, let's go."

As they pulled up, they seen Frank driving by as Horatio hailed him over. They all got out as Danny went running down the beach.

"Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaat....oh Christ, Naaaaaat."

As Danny reached her side, he seen the blood pooling around her neck.

"Don't move Natalia. Just lie still."

"What the hell happened Mac? How could this have gone wrong?"

"I don't know Danny. We'll get it figured out."
