With Danny and Eric at the lab. Horatio asked....

"Mac. May I ask you a question?"

"Of course, what is it Horatio?"

"Your son in law. I've never met him, have I?"

"No. I know Mackenzie's been here several times on buisness, and they have a beach house here that they use in the summer."

"I know that Mac. As Mackenzie use to drop by before you moved here, but never with her husband."

"Hmm...maybe he's been busy. He runs a huge buisness. I don't think it's very often Mackenzie or the kids see him either."

"Why all the questions?"

"Just curious Mac. Just curious."

While Mac left the room to check on his wife. Horatio decided to talk with Mackenzie.

"Mackenzie, sweetheart. Can I ask you something?"

"Sure Horatio, what is it?"

"I've never met your husband, and it seems I'll be missing him again. Do you have a family picture of you all?"

"I do. But not on me. We only have a couple big ones that sit on our wall. Even dad don't have any of us all together, but they have lots of the grandchildren."

"Okay. Okay sweetheart, I was just wondering."

Horatio couldn't help his suspicion. But it seemed funny to him why someone would steal a child's bear, just to return it a while later, with a bomb in it no less. It also didn't make sense, why all of a sudden Scott couldn't make it to the family barbeque. Is it because he knew about the bomb, or was he being sincere. Questions he would need to eventually ask, but not right now. Not until he knew more about Scott.

Upstairs Mac heard Stella talking to the baby in the shower. Walking into the bathroom he listened.

"You know sweetpea. Daddy and I can't wait for you to be born. You are going to be so loved and cherished. Daddy will sing to you every night, and tell you the most amazing stories. Yes he will."

Turning off the water. Stella stepped out and seen her husband holding her towel. Wrapping it around her without a word spoken, they felt the fire, the passion, the need begin.

Picking her and the baby up, he carried them to the bed, and with gentleness, he laid them on the bed, exposing Stella's sunkissed body.

"I swear my love, that you get more beautiful with each passing day. Your body just glows in enchanted light, begging for my touch." he whispered.

"Maaaac..."

As they heard their company still going strong, they locked out the world, trapping the two of them into their own little enchanted bubble.

I'm going to love you Stella. I'm going to touch you in the places that are crying for me to taste, to explore, to seduce and drug you into our own world.

With no more words between them, Mac began raining soft butterfly kisses across his wife's knees and thighs, watching in desire as her skin, her flesh, burned in his touch.

Slithering himself to touch her in the spot he knew would send her over the edge, she moaned and cried in firery passion, as her husband continued to drown her into his world.

Knowing she was fully ready, he turned her carefully on her side and loved her, bringing them both to spasms and sighs, both to the edge, as they called each others names in sensual whispers.

"Maaaaaaac......Stellaaaaaaaa"

When Mac returned downstairs he noticed Horatio had left.

"Mackenzie, where did Horatio go?"

"I'm not sure dad. He said he had something to take care of, and he'd call you later."

"Okay sweetheart, thanks."

Meanwhile...

Horatio showed up at Miami-Dade, running right into Eric and Danny.

"Eric...did you find anything on the tape?"

"No. It can't be cleared anymore than what it is. We've spent an hour trying."

"Okay. Okay, thanks. Danny can I talk with you a moment."

"Sure Horatio. What's up?"

"By chance have you ever met Scott?"

"Oh yeah, several times. He seems like a cool guy. Kind of cold towards his family, but to each their own."

"Hmm...okay. I'll see you later."

Heading to his old office, which was now Eric's he typed Scott's name into the data base.

"Hmm..nothing. Digging a little deeper he came across Scott's insurance policy's he had for his company.

"Now that's strange...he said to himself. Why is there policies for 5 million on Mackenzie and their children?" Printing out the information, he headed back over to Mac's.

*Knock, knock*

"Oh Horatio, hi. We were just cleaning up."

"I know love, is your dad around?"

"Yeah, he's in the back cleaning the barbeque."

"Thanks sweetheart."

Walking onto the patio he seen Mac looking out to sea.

"Beautiful isn't it?"

"Horatio...yeah it is."

"Listen Mac...umm...I have something to show you."

"Sure. What is it Horatio?"

Passing him the file Mac opened it and began to read. As Horatio watched he could see the confusion in his eyes.

"Christ...those are aweful large policies. Are you sure about this Horatio?"

"I'm positive Mac. Now I could be wrong. But I have a feeling your son in law may have put that bomb in his daughters teady bear."

"Come on Horatio. That's insane. I suppose he tried to kill our team too?"

"No...no. That's not what I'm saying. That's a different case. But what if Scott is trying to cash in on those policies?"

"Horatio, you are playing a very cruel game here. They've been married for four years now. Why would he all of sudden want rid of my daughter or grandaughters?"

"I don't know Mac. But maybe you should talk to Mackenzie and see if there have been any other incidences. I'll leave you to your thoughts, and talk to you tomorrow."

Walking back into the house, Mac looked at his little Mackenzie, and wondered to himself if Horatio could be right.

Taking a deep breath, he called..."Mackenzie, we need to talk love."

 If there was a jawdropping smilie, I would have used it. I can't believe he'd tried to kill his own little girl. That was shocking. I didn't see that one coming at all. I thought maybe he was involved in some shady deal with shady people and that it put his family in danger or something. I didn't see the whole insurance policy thing coming. Good twist!

Looking at her dad, Mackenzie said..."sure dad, what is it?"

"Listen love. How have things been with the girls and Scott?"

"Okay dad, why?"

"Well..I find it a little strange that Scott never wants to visit us. Has there been trouble at home?"

"No dad. What is going on? Please, tell me?"

"Okay Mackenzie. Have there been any accidents at home with you and the girls?"

"Like what kind dad? You aren't making sense."

"I know Mackenzie, this is hard. Are you aware that Scott had insurance policies out on you and the girls?"

"Of course I am daddy. He said they are for the girls future if anything happens to us."

"Mackenzie...who's your beneficiary?"

"Scott is for the girls and myself, and I'm his. Once again dad, why all the questions?"

"I'm just trying to find out about your life Mackenzie. We never seem to talk about your relationship."

Mackenzie was getting upset. She knew her dad was digging, but she wasn't about to tell him that they were having problems.

"That's because there is nothing to talk about dad."

Getting up she tried to leave the room when he grabbed her and she yelped.

"Auuuuuuuuugh.."

"Mackenzie...roll up your sleeve."

"No dad, would you stop. You just grabbed me to hard."

"I hardly touched you Mackenzie. Now what's going on?" he yelled waking Sharon.

Coming down the stairs she began to cry, still half asleep.

"Please daddy, stop yelling at mommy. No daddy, stoooooooop." she screamed.

Running to his granddaughter, he picked her up and held her.

"Shh...it's okay Sharon. Wake up sweetheart, it's papa."

Slowly realizing where she was, she cuddled into her papa's neck.

"I love you papa, please don't let daddy hurt mommy anymore."

Looking over at his daughter with great pain, he whispered in a hiss.....

"Don't you dare move young lady, I'll be right back"

Mackenzie hadn't seen look in her fathers eyes for a long time. She knew damn well not to move.

Taking his granddaughter upstairs to her nana, he placed her beside her.

"What's the matter Mac?"

"It's nothing love. Go back to sleep. Sharon had a bad dream, so she wants to sleep with you."

Taking her granddaughter into her arms, she cuddled her.

"I'll be back love. We'll talk about it later."

When Mac got back downstairs, he seen his daughter looking out the window.

"Roll up your sleeves Mackenzie...now, no more fooling around."

Raising her arms, she lifted off her shirt, as her dad hissed in pain.

"Mackenzie....why? Why didn't you tell us?"

Mac was floored, there was his daughter with faded bruises on her arm, shoulder and back.

"I'm sorry daddy. He doesn't mean to. He just gets really tired after a long day. The girls start yelling, giving him a headache. He just loses his temper a little."

"I don't care what kind of day he has. He has no right to take it out on you, or your children. Look at you Mackenzie, you must be in pain."

"They all aren't from him daddy. Just the faded ones on my arm. The other ones are from the car accident last week."

"What accident Mackenzie. God all these secrets young lady. I thought you knew you could talk to us about anything and everything."

"I do dad. I can handle Scott, he does more yelling at me then anything else."

Letting that subject drop for a minute he asked....

"Tell me about the accident Mackenzie."

"I was driving the girls to school. We rounded the corner when the brakes failed. We would have been hurt worse, but I started honking my horn, and the guy in front of us slowed down, allowing me to bang into his back end, slowing us down to a stop. I just got a little bruised on the shoulder."

"What caused the brakes to fail Mackenzie?"

"I don't know dad. Scott took the car in the following morning, and had it repaired."

Mac was begining to believe Horatio now.

"I'm telling you right now Mackenzie, you get that son of a bitch to send your stuff, you are not going back to NY, or to him. You will remain with us until everything is worked out."

"No dad, I won't. He's my husband. For better or for worse."

"Till death do you part Mackenzie? That's what going to happen. Your husband is trying to kill you and my grandchildren, and I'll be damned if that's going to happen."

Mackenzie was in tears. She couldn't understand why her dad would say that.

"Why would you say that dad? He would never kill us. It would never go that far."

"Walking over to his daughter he took her in arms and whispered....

"He already has Mackenzie. Twice now, and I'll be damned if he gets a third."

Sitting her down, Mac knew it was time to tell her about the bomb.

Poor Mackenzie. Mac's ticked off, I can tell. He wants to kick Scott's you know what.

I just wonder what Mackenzie's twin bro would have to say about what Scott's being doing to her. Considering the way Michael reacted to the guy who accidentally killed his other sister.

I can't imagine what Mackenzie's reaction is going to be to finding out Scott put a bomb in their daughter's teddy bear.

Just as Mac was about to tell her, his phone rang.

"Hello."

"Mac it's Eric, we've found something intersting on Mackezie's husband. Danny called NY and had a friend of his check on him. It seems he hasn't been in NY for two days now, but that's not the worst of it. It seems he lost his buisness."

"Hmm...did Danny's friend find out why?"

"He did. It was in a gambling game. He lost not only his buisness, but their home too. It also seems your son in law owes quite a bit of money to some high dealer's in NY."

"Which would explain why he's trying to kill my daughter, and grandchildren. To cash in the policy. But now we need proof that he was the one who put that bomb in Sharon's bear."

"Just not that Mac. We need to find Scott before he tries again."

"I know. I have a plan for that. Give Horatio a call, and have him meet us at the Miami-dade in the morning. We are going to set a trap for that evil bastard."

Hanging up the phone Mackenzie whispered...."What's going on dad?"

"Earlier today when we were at the beach. Someone stole our stuff, including Sharon's teady. Later in the day, someone turned it in to Miami-Dade. Danny recognized it and brought it to us tonight."

"Do you remember when Kong kept pulling and scratching at the tummy of bear?"

"Yeah...he wouldn't let up. What's so unusal about that? He's always loved that bear."

"Well...we found it very strange. So Horatio and I brought it in and sliced the tummy. Inside was a small bomb. Not enough to blow up the house, just enough to kill a small child. A child like Sharon."

Mackenzie was in tears. She still couldn't believe Scott would do that.

"It can't be true dad. It just can't."

"There's more sweetheart. It seems Scott has lost his buisness, and your home in some high stake gambling game. You and my grandchildren have nothing to go home too."

"So what you're saying dad, is that Scott needs us dead to pay off his debt to these loansharks?"

"I'm afraid so love, there's nothing left, they took everything."

"What about Scott? Did they hurt him?"

"Mackenzie...have you not been listening. He tried to kill you and your daughters. How can you still care?"

"I don't dad. But if he's still out there, then the girls and I are in danger."

"You and my grandchildren are safe here. I promise you Mackenzie, we will find him and when we do...."

"Don't even say it dad. I don't want to know. This is all to much too take in. How am I supposed to tell my daughters that their father is trying to hurt them?"

"You're not Mackenzie. Let's just take this one step at a time. The girls don't need to know yet. When the time is right, we will all tell them together, as a family."

"I think I need to take a walk daddy. I'll be back."

"I'm sorry Mackenzie, but you can't go out alone."

"Why not dad?"

With a sigh Mac said...."because your husband is here somewhere in Miami, waiting for his next chance to try again. Please listen Mackenzie. Horatio, the team, and I ,are going to set a trap to catch him. "

Crying in pain and hurt Mackenzie couldn't take anymore. Leaving her dad, she ran upstairs into her room and cried.

*Ding,dong*

"Who the hell is that?"

Looking at the clock it said 12:30am. Opening the door, Mac seen his son and two grandchildren standing there. It never ceased to amaze him how much his son looked like him, all the way down to his toes. He had that Taylor chisled face, that piercing look, the muslces, and voice all rolled into one.

"Michael....I thought you and the kids couldn't make it?"

"I thought so to dad. But I got finished up in time, so we decided to head here for the rest of the week-end. But I've been getting a sad aura dad, from Mackenzie. I could feel her pain on the cab ride here."

"Yes son, it's a long story. Give me Caroline, and you take MJ. We'll put them to bed, then I'll make some coffee, and I'll tell you what's been happening."

"Okay dad. So how are you enjoying Miami life retirement?"

"Funny son. Very funny."

With Michael's kids settled, they headed back downstairs.

*Crying, coming from the bedroom*

"Dad, can we talk in a few minutes? I'd really like to see my sister."

"Sure son. I need to check on your mom anyways."

Opening his sisters door, he seen her crying.

"Hey little sis."

Hearing the sound of her brothers voice. She got up and ran into his arms.

"Oh Michael...." she sobbed.

"Shh....hey, hey now sis. What's going on with you?"

"Everything. I just don't understand why he would want to kill me and the children."

Mackenzie felt her brother tense up, and as she looked up she seen her dad's face. That look that said..."I'll kill him."

"Please Michael, don't give me that look. I've seen it enough tonight from dad."

Still not being satisfied, he gripped his sisters arm, causing her to yelp.

"Ouuuuuch..."

"What the hell is going on Mackenzie?"

Rolling up her sleeve he seen the bruises.

"What the....? That's it sis, where the hell is he, I'll kill him myself."

"Oh just stop Michael, get out, and leave me alone."

Knowing he was in no mood to listen anyways. He headed down to see his dad.

"Fine. But this isn't over sis. I'll be back."

Walking into the kitchen he yelled at his dad.

"What the hell is going on dad? Tell me right now."

"Calm down Michael. It seems Scott is trying to kill your sister and your nieces for the insurance money. He's broke, has some pretty high loansharks after him. Your sister has lost her home, and everything in it. We have officer's searching for him, plus Horatio, Eric, myself, Danny and Flack are going to set a trap for him."

"Wait dad...slow down. Just how did he try and kill them?"

"The first accident happened two weeks ago. Your sisters brakes failed with the kids in the car. If not for the guy in front of them, they would have been seriously injured or killed. The second time was tonight. The bastard took Sharon's bear, and planted a bomb in it. If not for Kong sniffing it out, your niece would have been killed."

"Sick sadistic bastard. I knew there was something about him that always bothered me. It was always strange, how he never came to any of our family gatherings, or even to Miami. In fact, now I think about it, he avoided Miami like the plague."

"What are you thinking son?"

"I'm just begining to wonder, if he has loansharks here too. Have you and the team checked around, or asked questions?"

"Not yet son. We're just getting started."

"Well...you better make it quick, before my sister and nieces are killed. Also...if I catch the bastard first, I'll kill him myself. There will be no trial where he is concerned."

"I'll make like I didn't here that son. Now let's get some rest. We start fresh in the morning."

 I knew Michael would be pissed. And to Michael, I'd say: "Faster pussycat, kill, kill." I don't know where the quote is from, but anyway...

Good chapter!
