Jellybelly--->
They have a perfect opportunity to bring Sam back, even for a moment to show support to Flack in his grief. They have a perfect opportunity to bring Louie back (assuming he's still alive) to offer support to Danny in his recovery. Sometimes the simplest storylines can be the most powerful.
I agree with you because i like simple things too. However last time we saw Sam (and God knows i want her back!) she was struggling (sp?) against alcoholism. I doubt in less than 6 months she is recovery enough (and i am not talking only about alcohol. I feel at the bottom of Sam's heart i think she thinks she is not worth enough and she feels guilty and ashamed of herself because her brother is a great guy, a "by the book" (until 5.25 he was) cop)
So, it doesn't matter she loves him and he loves her. She wouldn't be able to help him if she can't help herself first. Actually i hope Don will be recovered soon just to help her and we have sam again :)

I don't know what happened to Louie, however i am glad we will have a deeper bond between Sheldon and Danny this season. I liked them in Yarzheit and in 4.02 :)

But there's still a great storyline there. I'm pretty sure that Sam would want to help him, even if she's not in the right place to do so at the moment. Having her show up right now would be great, whatever state she's in herself. It would add so many layers to Flack to see him struggling with his sister and her issues on top of his own, likewise to see Sam wanting to help him even if she fails spectacularly. :)

From TVGuide.com's MegaBuzz:

You guys mentioned a while back that CSI: NY producers were planning to bring back Reed, Mac's stepson, and Sam, Flack's sister, this season. How's that going? — Clarisse
ADAM: Not too well, actually. Executive producer Pam Veasey tells me that ebb and flow of story ideas in the writers' room just haven't ebbed back toward those characters. But don't give up hope. "These two characters are always on our minds," Veasey says. "And if they do return this season, it will be quite riveting."

They're "always on [their] minds," but they can't be too arsed to write stories that include them. But if they do get around to it it'll be teh awesomesauce. Color me unimpressed.
First, hallelujah, a question not about DL or Lucy.

Next. PV's personal soundtrack is Willy Nelson? Who knew. :p

:vulcan: Bleh. Flippin' bummed to hear about this. Not so much Reed, he got a good run of eps and involvement, but moreso Sam. They were really lucky in their casting, Kathleen Munroe had a great dynamic and interaction with Eddie as siblings. It was great to see that side of Don. It's a shame we won't likely be seeing more of her. But better that if/when they do bring Sam back she's not wasted in some inane pretense I suppose. I would rather they take the time to do it up well. Seems a missed opportunity though.

Between Gerrard, Louie, Reed, Sam, Ella, etc., I think all the victims of BHC should get together and go bowling. Mebbe challenge TBTP in a tourney. That would be riveting.

Well, at least Danny isn't hopefully healed magically the way Flack was. That's a plus for continuity.
I'd actually rather Danny was magically healed sooner rather than later, so that it's not drawn out. I guess it also bugs me that Flack somehow didn't warrant much more than a comment at the start of People With Money, and we're gonna get an extended path to recovery for Danny now instead. At least Stella had some aftermath from the Frankie incident, though that too blew over pretty quickly, and yes, I'm glad to hear Flack will get some material dealing with his events as well this time around.

As it stands, I'm not looking forward to the rare occasion Continuity gets a nod by having Danny in physiodrama for half the season. If verisimilitude means being oversaturated in screentime and focus, I'd rather BHC claimed another victim.

Right now I'm hoping Flack's stuff is well done, though disappointed Sam won't be making an appearance in what woulda been a great storyline to do so, and that Hawkes and Adam (and Sid) get more their (over)due some time this season.

Maybe tptb need to stop trying too hard to make the storylines for these characters riveting. Personally I don't need to see them coming back for some big drama-filled storyline. If that's what tptb want to do then it's little wonder they're struggling to find the right way to do it. There's only so many times you can link a main character's relatives to the crime.

Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you for stating that so articulately. I agree. 100%.

I was really hoping we might get to see Sam return exactly because of what she was struggling with, because of what both are struggling with. It could also have been a lot more interesting than simply just the usual general dynamic of one character being a rock and supporting another character thru whatever. That also goes for the team as well, which is why I'd like to see all of them somehow dealing with what's happened. Louie making an appearance would also have been one thing that would get me interested in Danny's journey to recovery.

I don't really want the show to drown itself and flounder in personal melodrama this season, but I would and do appreciate seeing that the characters carry their experiences with them. I do also like that the two big developments we've so far heard about stem from incidents on the Job.

I dunno. It kinda feels to me right now that this will be another example of a major storyline that's somehow less compelling than the body of smaller moments between characters that color and comment on things. Guess we'll see.

Gotta agree with JellyBelly here. It would add layers to Flack that he hasn't been given much of in the past five years at all, compared to the other characters. Precisely because both Sam and Don are both in more fragile states it would have been really interesting to see them interact together, each somewhat lost within their individual problems, whatever the success or aftermath would have been for the effort.

Bummed. Man, spoilers still aren't doing much to get me geared up and anticipating the season, except for Flack.

S6 so far = :shifty::borg:

Fun pic by Hill of him and Carmine. Can't say as I'd immediately assume it implied that Carmine was in a wheelchair just thru their positioning. Sure, could be. Could also have been Hill just reaching out to snap them thru his crackberry.

So far Hill's twits are far more entertaining and encouraging than what's being doled out by PV et al, which is minimal at best. Unimpressed. Bleh. Not boding well at all for me so far. And I'm not usually such a killjoy w/ regards to all this. I gotta think the overwhelming mediocrity of S5 is a legacy all it's own I'm not managing to shake yet. But with developments like a clean up tech with an agenda and Danny and inevitable DL melodrama being touted as the things to breath new life into the show, I'm not terribly enthusiastic, at least not yet. Live and hope an' all. Flack faltering could be engaging. Langston in town could be interesting. I really hope the mysteries and crimes in general are more tightly written too, though I do appreciate the nod to have the characters challenged a little more. I guess I was just hoping for a few different characters to get in on things. :p

Interestingly enough, this could easily be the big dramatic storyline TPTB are set on looking for, if they chose to use it. Seriously, TPTB, it's right under your noses  There would be few things more powerful than watching Flack struggle to help Sam when he's already going through so much, and watching Sam try to help Flack even though she's all issue-ridden herself. I think it would be at least as powerful as the storyline about Sam's alcoholism. They wouldn't need to tie it back to a case.

So true. :)

I'm sad to hear that there's no current plans to bring Sam or Reed back. :( Actually, I'm not that bothered about Reed, personal preference I suppose, but I would just love to see Sam or Louie back. I'm now not holding out much hope for that to happen this season.

I was just going to post the same thing about Sam. As for Louie, is he still in that coma or what?

ROTFL! It took me a second to get that.

First of all, I agree with pretty much everything you guys have said.

I'd love to see Reed and Sam come back this season. Ella or Louie... I'm not holding my breath for though. I mean, Louie's been in a coma for almost four seasons now, so I doubt they're bringing him back.

One thing that has always bugged me is the time jumps in between seasons. Between season one and two Hawkes had enough time to achieve CSI status after being in the morgue. Between two and three Flack enough time to almost fully recover (he mentions having some more hours of rehab left) from being blown up. Again, between three and four it is thought that only ten days pass while Mac is in London. Yet Adam and Danny have completely healed when he returns. There is less than a day between four and five, which I understand given how the season ended. And now it sounds like almost no time has passed since the finale.

Okay, sorry for the rant, i just had to get that out.

But I don't understand why we do have to see Danny's recovery this season. Yeah its good material, but every other time a character has been injured, almost nothing was said about it.

I wish TPTB would learn that we actually do pay attention to things like this.

^Cool--thanks for posting that! :)

I'm excited about the premiere. And again, biased Danny fan here :p , but I am looking forward to seeing how he deals with this and struggles to recover. I think it's got great potential for all of the characters, because everyone has a personal connection to Danny--in part because he is so emotional.

I can't say I'm shocked that Reed and Sam won't be back in the near future, and that there are no concrete plans to bring them back. It's still a CSI show, and they can't loop in relatives unless it really makes a lot of sense to have them around. I think it would make sense to bring Louie back (though I've long given up that notion :p ;) ) or have the Messer family come in in some way, now that Danny is a) married, b) a father and c) injured.

I guess we'll see! I'm looking forward to the new season.

With you 100%, I love Danny and Carmine is great with being vulnerable. I think there is good reason to believe that Pam wont screw this up for the Messer family. Any drama that is left wont be "are they or aren't they" it will be more about them sticking together through the shit. (pardon the lang) I am excited. 4 weeks tonight!

Jake Calaveras.................... Andrew Lawrence
Joey's Lawrence's little brother? Hmm.

I didn't know we'd be seeing Haylen so soon, but I'm interested to see the character so I can form an opinion about whether or not I have a new girlcrush now that Angell is gone. :p

re: reed and sam, that's a bummer. i agree with most of you guys. they don't HAVE to have this explosive storyline for them to come back. say sam with flack's grief, that won't make much big of a scene, but it would work. or at least another one of those i-know-the-victim storylines. that's how sam entered the show anyway, she was sort of involved with the girl who helped mac.

re: press release, awesome! can't wait. if i'm not mistaken miami's season 8 promo's already out, so maybe in a couple of days ny's will come out too. hopefully. haha.

So Sarah Carter will be a guest star with a recurring role all that buzz during the summer around a new CSI regular ahah they really know how keep our interest about the show during hiatus ...... am I the only one to think a lot of noise for nothing except we lost Angell guest star for guest star; financial reasons are craps... I liked Angell so I will wait to see if Sarah Carter is worthy
