^^^ And me there hasn't been any real reference at all about the lab or Danny's injuries unlike the reference to bomb blast at the beginning of season 3 ;)

Macs New Lady Friend...

Still tho on and off about another Mac and a mew woman story line. Tho she is very pretty.
She is pretty!

Although I love Mac (yeah, that's kinda obvious isn't it) and I always enjoy a Mac storyline, I do think that he gets a lot of storylines, as do Stella and Danny. All these 3 have had their own major storylines this season. I like all 3 characters, but I do agree that it would be nice to see Hawkes, Adam and Flack get a story arc of their own. Just something to pan out over 3 or 4 eps. Hill, AJ, and Eddie are all excellent actors, as good as Gary, Melina and Carmine and they deserve the chance to show it. I personally don't think Gary/Mac gets too many storylines, but he does get more than Hawkes/Adam/Flack, but then so do Danny/Carmine and Stella/Melina. We've seen so many eps for e.g. where Danny is in some kind of trouble, and Flack goes to save him. I love angsty Danny but it would be nice to see a storyline where FLACK is the one in danger or suffering angst, and see Danny (and Mac and Stella) be there for him.
Finally, I don't think Mac's getting a new lady will be a big 333-type storyline, just something that is mentioned every few eps and it hopefully won't dominate the eps. Anyway, can't wait for the new eps to start. :) So this still counts as s4, right, and the show's been renewed for s5 AS WELL?

I totally agree with you. Wherever NY goes I just follow. I don't care.

Personally though, I think Hawkes desperately needs a girl! I mean come on! I feel sorry for our too-smart-for-his-own-good buddy!

I know nothing about the actress they're talking about, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. *shrug* Mac doesn't exactly have a good track record with relationships, so I'm not counting on this new woman sticking around for long.

It's also leik OMG so kewl that there are coments from the "ZOMG! Mac (the main @$%&! character) already had the 333 story. The rest of the season should revolve around D/L and proving their ZOMG!CANON twu wuv" contingent.
I swear to God, I was going to comment on that. When did the show become about love interests at all? Debating whether Mac should get a love interest before Hawkes or before Danny and Lindsay's Torrid Passionate Practically-Married Affair gets screentime or before Flack and Angell hit the sack or whatever. Gah! >.<

I couldn't care less who Mac is sleeping with. Can't we see more Reed, please? Can't a person just be dating someone offscreen so we know they're not ZOMG UNREALISTIC (because people date, doncha know?) while still having their storylines revolve around something else?

I should know better. Everybody watches television for titillation and romance, obviously, and having a cast where the only married person is the coroner is so realistic to begin with.

Plot holes and abandoned continuity be damned! All we want is pretty people sucking face!

Excuse me, I'll be over in my corner reminiscing about season 1, back when Aiden could go out with a guy and Mac could meet a woman for dinner and Stella could be all dressed up for a date and it didn't automatically count as a 'personal storyline', much less a priority.

BRING BACK REED, DAMNIT!

Jessalyn Gilsig is awesome!!!! :D What a great choice. It'll be interesting to see what she does with the role, and if she and Gary have chemistry together.

Yeah, the comments on TVGuide.com... For starters, it's awesome that Ausiello is giving the show some attention. I know he's a Gilsig fan, but still, it's cool to see CSI: NY getting press.

Secondly, the comparisons between Mac and Horatio baffle me. I'm critical of Mac at times, but come on. He's not hooking up with other character's 20-something sisters or finding out he produced a love child sixteen years ago. Nothing about this storyline sounds absurd; I think it actually sounds intriguing. As much as I liked Peyton (and I really did like her), she left Mac and there's nothing wrong with him moving on. Tying it into "Snow Day" is clever, too. We always ask for more continuity, so kudos to the writers.

And though I'd honestly rather see Danny naked than Mac (just personal preference), I'd take a Mac pairing over Danny and Lindsay's chemistry-free match up any day. I've thought all along pairing Danny and Lindsay was a mistake, but shoving their romance into the background was one of the best moves made this season, along with giving Danny the terrific storyline with Ruben.

Would I like to see Flack and Hawkes get a little more to do? Sure. But Mac is the lead (along with Stella) and I think anyone who tunes into CSI: NY should know that, especially given the way the credits are now, with Gary and Melina over the main title. That spells it out pretty blatantly. Carmine usually gets enough to do (with the exception of the romance sucking the life out of his storylines in season three) and Eddie has had some great stuff this year. Hill had a few episodes last year, but definitely needs more. Anna--well, the more she's in the background, the better. ;) And the newest regular, AJ, is just getting started. :)

Even so, they've got enough loose ends dangling to trip over if they're not careful, but instead of tying some of those up with a storyline at the end of this season, they're starting another storyline about Mac's love life? A vague mention of "Snow Day" is better than nothing, but it's like they don't even care about finishing what they started. What about that mob guy from "Zoo York" that Mac had to deal with? What about Reed? Mac could be featured without the storyline being about a new love interest. *shrug*

The could easily just make a whole season relating back to all the continuity stuff we want to see... would give each character a run and still add some drama.

I agree BRING BACK REED! That's a great and real personal storyline for Mac and it's so nice that there's a 'CSI kid' who isn't an insufferable brat like Cath's daughter or Ray Jr on Miami.
BRING BACK REED! AND LOUIE!

I've never seen her in anything but I'm looking forward to seeing her work with Gary. Claire Forlani had great chemistry with him IMO, so I hope JG will too.

As a Mac fan and someone who's in the middle about Horatio, thank you for saying that. I'm looking forward to the storyline too, though I would prefer to have Reed back because Mac and Reed's relationship is just fascinating to watch, and Gary and Kyle Gallner are so good together. But I do like the idea of Mac moving on (it connects back to what he said to Stella in Time's Up.) I really liked Peyton too, Claire Forlani is beautiful and so talented and like I said she and Gary were great together.

And though I'd honestly rather see Danny naked than Mac (just personal preference), I'd take a Mac pairing over Danny and Lindsay's chemistry-free match up any day. I liked the D/L flirting in s2, I thought it showed a different side to Danny. But s3 put me off it. I just can't see their relationship as serious or meaningful. I'm glad too it was very much in the background this season. Danny's Ruben storyline was fantastic. I hope they develop that some more. And hey, I wouldn't protest to a bit of naked Danny. As long as he's not with Lindsey. Bring back Maka, maybe?

Overall, I do like a little romance 'on the sidelines' for the characters in all the CSIs, but I prefer more 'serious' personal storylines like Danny's Rueben thing and Mac and Reed. I do think NY has the best character development of all 3 shows, no matter how they choose to do that development. Look how much Danny has grown up since s1, or how Mac has changed.

Would I like to see Flack and Hawkes get a little more to do? Sure. I agree. Hopefully Eddie, AJ and Hill will get some good storylines of their own. But like you say, the lead characters/actors on all the CSIs always get more storylines.

The age difference doesn't bother me at all, also she's older than Claire Forlani, and I never noticed an age difference between Peyton and Mac.

It's funny, my step-dad is 7 1/2 years younger than my mom. He was about 16 1/2 when I was born. He's about a year and a half older than Gary Sinese, and I'm a year older than Jessalyn Gilsig. So my reaction was just . . . Ew. :p

But it really does bug me that the entertainment industry so often casts much younger women to play the love interest of an older man. It sends a message that men can be sexy and attractive at any age, but women have a definite shelf life.

^It's a Hollywood thing. And yeah, it's obnoxious--there are plenty of attractive actresses in their 40s or 50s who could be paired up with Gary Sinise. But then, Stella did have a younger guy, sort of, too, in Drew. But I hear what you're saying.

And make no mistake--I'd love to see Reed come back. I thought he was a great character and there was a great relationship between him and Mac forming in s. 3. But I think it's hard to have him keep coming back unless a) he's involved with a murder in some way or b) he's a suspect. They've already done a), and I really, really, really don't want to see b). It's such a cliche. And while I'd love to see Mac and Reed just hanging out, it's probably not worth Kyle Gallner's time to come back and shoot a scene here and a scene there, and that's probably all it would be. Don't get me wrong--I'd love to see him back, just not as a murder suspect. Or as a dead body! That would suck.

Yeah you're right. Unless some trace of Claire or her remains were found at Ground Zero. That would be a good storyline for both Mac and Reed.

Top, you will kindly keep your logic away from my wanking, plz.

I still think they could make it work to bring him back. Mention him a few times and then have him in one episode or something. I don't know, I just want it. :p

Dawni, thanks for bringing over the TVguide.com link on Mac's new paramour! Pretty lady, but from her photo she doesn't look "Stunning to the Point of Unbelievable", so that's good, IMO. She looks like a more natural beauty. And as Top mentioned, I too am interested in seeing what sort of chemistry she and Gary have together. :) I really enjoyed the interaction/chemistry between he and Peyton, too.

ON that note though, I still think, as I said in a much earlier post, that it might be more of a means to a political storyline for Mac, rather than just romance. Hoping so, because the political storylines they brought up last season were rather intriguing, I thought. It brought up some compelling "Black/White vs. Grey Area" issues with Mac, which humanized his character quite a bit.

Finally, Yes Yes Yes!!! to seeing more juicy storylines for Flack and Hawkes, and more character development for Lindsay, sans Danny.

I think she's a more natural beauty too which is good because 1. That seems to be what Mac likes in a woman (Peyton had natural beauty too, as did Jane Parsons in s1 and that Rose woman) and 2 because there are too many 'stunning to the point of unbelievable' women/people in NY (the cases) throughout s3 and in some of s4 too.

Yes that was interesting. It's such an interesing conflict for him, and like you say it humanizes the character.
