CSI:Miami- season 7 in the UK

I was reading the Radio Times review for next weeks epi, and it goes on about that lab tech with the British accent. Or as it says the fake, posh British accent. It is quite a funny review, apparently he pronounces derby the American way. They were not impressed, whatsoever!

I was trying to work out if the actor is actually English or just faking it - never worked out why they don't just get an English actor to start with, instead of an American pretending! I wouldn't mind but they seem to think the only British accents there are are either really posh or Dick-Van-Dyke-cockerney! Both equally crappy when attempted by an American!

And RT reviewers don't seem to like the show at all anyway - there's one (woman - can't remember her name) who usually writes it off no matter how good the episode is. She just doesn't like the show and I sometimes wonder if she's even bothered to watch the episode before reviewing it!

Tbh most reviews i've seen of Miami have been bad, even for the stronger episodes. They've all been pretty Anti-Ryan aswell. E/C is usually the only thing I see getting any praise  One of our local papers is obsessed with that whole romance the reviews mention it for EVERY episode, even ones that have barely mentioned it. These reviewers are all tv snobs tho who all jump on the "oooooh the wire and 24 are amaaazing nothing else is as good" bandwagon. Tis only our opinion that counts, just wish another channel (not sky1 PLEASE!) will snap it up so it gets the attention it deserves. Plus we wouldn't as much tension every week seeing if our freeview boxes will pull through!

Actually he's a Canadian faking an English accent. ;)

And they probably have to hire non-English actors to play English parts because all of the English actors are busy playing Americans. :guffaw:

Just off the top of my head are Hugh Laurie in House and Stephen Moyer in True Blood. Other non-Americans I can think of are Matthew Rhys (Welsh) in Brothers and Sisters and Ryan Qwanten (Australian) in True Blood. I could go on, but it would get lengthy. :D

But I've heard both good and bad fake accents done by both Americans and English. I think it depends on the actor really. Personally, I always thought Travers sounded a bit fake and I'm American. But I had someone who was English tell me that they thought his accent was real. *shrugs* :)

I get that for actors putting on a British accent or likewise an American accent must be difficult to keep up, i know i couldn't / wouldn't ever try to do it.. but why do all *fake* British charactors have to sound so posh.. i don't know anyone that actually talks like that, surely there just making it harder for themselves. Its like saying every single person in Britain sounds exactlty the same and that we go around with our little fingers sticking out and our noses in the air !!

Ahh' i could go on.. have been sent out the room for ranting about the "British" accents of certain tv characters many, many times.. :shifty:

Anyway, im off to watch House. Tee hee hee, my attempt at being funny, blink and you miss it. x

My humblest apologies to both great nations! My own Canadian relatives despair when I can't tell the difference between Canadian and American accents - aparently it's obvious to them!

How cool would it be to have a Brummy on Miami? or a Scouser? or a Geordie?!:guffaw:

Were normally only allowed on *educational sites* and they have safety blocks on almost anything interesting. Including dateing sights!! :p
We had *free time* as the class got held up so he said we could do what we wanted, but i didn't get the chance to explain that i wasn't looking to meet up with a strange man off the internet and was infact just having a nosey at what everyone thought of last nights Miami. Perhaps next time i'll just wait until lunch and go to the libary real quick. ;)

Ahh, ok. I suppose with all the avatars it could be mistaken for a dating site- but im sure the guys on the csi shows are way, way hotter than those on dating sites :)

They are quite negative reviews, but I do find the RT one funny.

I completely agree. I dont know anyone with the kind of posh English accent that is shown on these shows. You would think that that was the way we all spoke here.

Ok, ok i know its NOT tueday.. but it will be in a couple of hours and i allways miss out on the tueday celbrations , so...

Well, Ryan fighting was very hot!
Poor thing, he never has it easy. He looked so sad when talking to Calleigh.
I did feel sorry for Delko, at the end. That was quite sweet with the chocs. Im not an EC shipper. but even I was going 'awww.' Sad romantic that I am!
