CSI LV Awards Discussion

part of the reason I dont like the nomination is that I didn't much care for the emotionally charged bit. Just didn't do it for me. His subtlness of portrayal in Grissom's Divine Comedy did it far more. That's the sort of actor he is, that's why he's so good, he doesn't need to going all gung-ho to portray a character like Grissom.

He won't get nomiated, as the norm, he'll get overlooked. He's far to subtle an actor to win something like that. Billy simply isn't OTT enough, thank goodness.

oh i agree. Grissom's subtlety is a trademark. but you know, the only chance for him to even get a nod is to get submitted for an episode like Dead Doll.

i don't think it matters that much, though. the problem is, he didn't get a nod for Living Doll either which was equally or even more emotionally charged. so wheather it was for GDC or DD, Gil Grissom is not a character anybody would be likely to get an Emmy for. not b/c he is dull or uninteresting, far from that, but b/c he doesn't do big dramatic scenes.

at the same time, if Warrick dies next season and, let's say, Sara comes back, he could get an emotional episode which i'm sure won't be over the top but would create some nice foreshadowing for Grissom's exit from the whole show, if WP chooses to quit.

LOL looking at the complete episode submission list including submissions from other shows, I can't see any of the CSI cast members get nominated. I hope I'm wrong, but let's face it, CSI is a quite old show now. If it couldn't please/impress the voters when it was new and refreshing a few years back, it certainly can't now as it's getting old and isn't as good as it used to be.

it's nothing to be ashamed of, cos as Ad says - they want big drama from actors.

CSI being more procedural than character driven maybe isn't their thing. Although the irony is, CSI has some of THE best characters on TV, especially Grissom, who is so unique, but also Jim Brass is another truly great TV character. They also have some fabulous actors in Billy, Marg and Paul Guilfoyle. Seriously, i wouln't swap that trio for anyone.

I wouldn't want CSI or its actors to pander to the award process. Some of the shows and actors who have won emmys recently are so un-inspired and so formulaic, that it isn't really a mark of something being good. It's just a mark of something fitting the Emmy forumla.

I think this season has been it's best season since season 5, it certainly is as good as it used to be now. Probably wasn't the last 2 seasons. But it's been excellent again this season.

This is the CSI emmy photo that they're using in Emmy magazine, which does ads for "For Your Consideration..."

This year they featured Gil and Catherine. :)

As to why I'm shocked on the Jorja part, because if you look at CSI: NY, the main female star didn't get submitted, Melina Kanakaredes. And she was in all 21 episodes. Jorja, however was in 7.

Yes, the Emmy's have not been kind to CSI and all procedurals, but this season and next could possibly change that. The character driven episodes: Dead Doll, GBaGL and For Getta have broken with the usual procedural format to focus more on the characters. This season it was Jorja Fox's and Gary Dourdan's exit episodes showcasing their talent, and next season may be Petersen dealing with Warrick's situation and Sara. While CSI is an older show I think it has matured and become somewhat more critically appreciated, at least from what I have read. I don't watch NY or Miami so I can't comment on them. Good Luck CSI!

LOL Shane, none of them has gotten nominated yet. It's the submission list we're talking about. We don't even know who will make the 10 finalists, not to mention the nominees. :D

Apart from CSI not being the Emmy voters' kind of show, there's another thing that's really important in such award campaigns, and that's promotion. It's always the newer shows that get heavily promoted by the networks because newer shows almost equal to bigger chances to get nominated and even win. CSI used to be in that place and Marg did get nominated for the season 3 episode Lady Heather's Box. But now it's just not CSI's place anymore.

It's not like CSI needs any more awards to prove anything, and I think winning an award is more about luck than talent since all the nominees are actually very talented in their own ways. But the more encouragement, the better, I guess.

All i want to see is the cast getting what they deserve, a cast nomination! i don't understand what the emmy's cannot see that we can and all the other award shows can. The cast of CSI are by far the best in the world yet they havent got the reconition they deserve in that respect. Why?!?! i also want them to get a star on the walk of fame, but thats totally different:)

LOL I meant submitted. I was typing quickly, random thoughts flying through brain and such. :p

Gee now there is an open shot if I ever did have one, and yet I will restrain myself just barely. :guffaw:

Re: CSI Episode Emmy Submissions

I'm shocked Jorja got submitted in the 'Supporting Actress in a Drama.' She was in what, seven episodes out of 17 and left the show? I don't even think she should have been nominated.

What is the big deal if Jorja get nominated? Just because she left the show, doesn't mean she can't get nominated. She did a good job with Good Bye and Good Luck. I see actor and actress left the show and they got nominated if they are not on the show.

George did a good job with the Lying down with the Dog. Can we vote that one for George or what?

I so agree, NicknGrissom yipee that she got nominated, she so deserves this, she was magnificent, and riveting with the little psycho Hannah, creepy she was so awesome, and so believable and you could see her melt down!the "inked a deal" coming back for more than the premiere, I figured as much thumbsup:I'm glad they all got a nod their all great!

Jorja didn't get submitted for "Dead Doll", she got submitted for "Goodbye and Goodluck." :)

I don't think the Emmys have a category for cast. You get best shows, best leading/supporting/guest actors and actresses, but no best casts. They have won a SAG for best ensemble cast, though. :)

If I'm correct, I don't think they've ever won an Emmy for the show or an actor...just sound and cinematography and such. So if they haven't won in previous (maybe better?) seasons, I don't think they will this year, even if they get nominated.
