James Garner hospitalized after stroke

LOS ANGELES (AP) - James Garner's publicist says the veteran TV and film star has been hospitalized in Los Angeles after suffering a minor stroke at his home last week.

Publicist Jennifer Allen said Tuesday that the star of "Maverick" and "The Rockford Files" was hospitalized Friday. Allen says Garner is doing well and will be going home soon.

Garner, who turned 80 last month, rose to prominence in the 1950s as "Maverick," a wry riverboat gambler who, unlike his TV contemporaries, would often run rather than fight.

He's better known to younger audiences for playing Katey Sagal's father in the sitcom "8 Simple Rules ... For Dating My Teenage Daughter."
 
Country star Shania Twain, husband splitting up

Shania Twain and husband-producer Robert "Mutt" Lange are splitting up after 14 years of marriage. The 42-year-old Canadian country superstar and 59-year-old Lange married in 1993 and have a 6-year-old son named Eja. Her publicist provided no further details Thursday about the couple's breakup.

Lange and Twain, best known for her hits "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" and "You're Still the One," recently opened a hiking trail on their property in New Zealand, fulfilling a pact designed to allay fears that wealthy foreigners were snapping up and sealing off the country's prime real estate.
Lange produced three of Twain's albums: 1995's "The Woman in Me," 1997's "Come on Over" and 2002's "Up!"

Paul McCartney can now add one more honor to his numerous awards, accolades and the knighthood he's already received. The ex Beatle was awarded an honorary Doctor of Music from Yale University in New Haven, Conn. In granting the honorary degree to McCartney or Sir Paul McCartney since he was knighted in 1996, the university said no one compares with the legendary songwriter. Yale said the 65-year McCartney awakened a generation, giving a fresh sound to rock & roll and the blues. A band played "Hey Jude" a hugh Beatles hit as he walked on stage to accept the honorary degree. Yale University President Richard Levin evoked some of the songwriter's most memorable lines. "Here, there and everywhere" Levin said, quoting a line from a Beatles song. "You have pushed the boundaries of the familiar to create new classics. we admire your musical genius and your generous support of worthy causes":thumbsup:

Chris Cagle, girlfriend jailed for domestic assault

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Country music singer Chris Cagle has been arrested for domestic assault in Nashville after police said he and his girlfriend got into a drunken fight.

Corrections officials say Cagle and his girlfriend, Jennifer Tant, have been jailed on misdemeanor domestic assault charges. A police affidavit says both were intoxicated and an argument turned physical early Wednesday.

The Davidson County Sheriff's Department says there is a mandatory 12-hour stay in jail before Cagle and Tant can post $1,500 bonds.
 
25 getting Hollywood Walk of Fame stars next year

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Hollywood will enshrine an eclectic bunch in its famous curbside Walk of Fame next year, including Hugh Jackman, Ben Kingsley, The Village People and Tinkerbell.

Recipients of the sidewalk stars also include Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, Cameron Diaz, Robert Downey Jr., Tim Burton, Leslie Caron, Charles Durning, Ralph Fiennes, William Petersen, Kyra Sedgwick, John Stamos, Mark Burnett, Chuck Lorre, Kenny "Baby Face" Edmonds, Dave Koz, The Miracles, Doug Morris, Rush, Shakira, KFI radio personality Bill Handel and KCRW host Harry Shearer, who also provides voices for characters on "The Simpsons."

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's Walk of Fame Committee chose the recipients, who were ratified by the board of directors Thursday.

aw, i was hoping cheetah the chimpanzee would get in this year. i read an article about him a while ago and his handlers were hoping he would finally get on the walk of fame this year. glad to see tim burton on there though :)

Jamie Lynn Spears Delivers

Jamie Lynn Spears, 17, early Thursday morning gave birth to a daughter, whom she named Maddie, at the Mississippi Southwest Regional Medical Center. Young Spears' young 'un weighed in at 7 lbs., 11 oz., Us reports.

Big sis Britney was at Jamie Lynn's side, having flown home (commercial!) to 'Ouisiana earlier in the week.

This is the first child for JLS and her 19-year-old fiancé, Casey Aldridge. For many Saturdays during the past 10 years, Kirk Douglas' wife woke him up saying "Honey, you have to go to school" This was to dedicate another playground, the actor said. On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors honored Douglas, 91:wtf: and his wife Anne, with a life time achievement for his continuing community service and for the $8 million they donated to refurbish 400 elementary school playgrounds throughout the county!

Heather Locklear is seeking treatment for anxiety and drepression. People mag.'s web-site reported Tuesday. The 46 yr. old actress checked into a facility in Arizona. Locklear's divorce from rocker Ritchie Sambora was finalized in 2007. The have one daughter Ava, and Heather is reportedly dating former "Melrose Place" co-star Jack Wagner!

Britney Spears and a parenting coach were questioned Tuesday by the L.A. County court commissioner overseeing the singer's custody dispute, resulting in an un-specified change in visitation status. The pop princess wearing a white shore-sleeved top and capri pants, left court without comment, nor did the two speak!
