Carmine-What is Cessau?

Yeah, I'm the same way...I have sex conversations with my friends, not random dudes on the radio.

Carmine does seem a little shy about stuff...it's definitely cute. He seems cooler with the dating advice than the sex advice.

Cool that they played "Wrote the Longest Word." It's definitely my favorite song on the EP!

Cute, arty and a little shy with a hint of bad-boy. Perfect. :)

We're getting to the tunes now on the internet stream...I love this song. *resists temptation to turn it up, it being 07:20ish here*

My computer is being funky and I can't listen. You guys who are listening will have to give a more detailed rundown after it's over. (please!) Some of the stuff you've said so far has me intrigued/a little frightened. :wtf:

Ah, that sucks. It was being funky on my XP PC, so I ended up moving it to my Vista Media Centre...

This annoyed me actually, because I was going to capture the audio and all the software is on the XP PC...

It's a shame the podcasts aren't free.

From the sound of it, it seems like the whole show's staged.

Top41, you should totally ask Fay what she and I, uhm, discussed after hearing about Carmine appearing on this Loveline thing.

I'm gonna be honest, I think this is staged. It just seems so false and for the humour...

Heh heh. I'm intrigued. And nosey. :p

OK, you must share! :D

Carmine guessed bathtub for the latest match game...I guessed sock and I was right!

We will definitely, um, share as much as we can.

Carmine just described himself as "boring" when it comes to...um...being happy all on his own. ;)

This is so going to test my creative euphemisms...

So, we know what Carmine does in the bath now...I just hope there is water in there at the same time.

I'm deferring the reporting responsibility to you... :p

Wow, never, ever use Carmine's bathtub.

He's giving good advice to the 15-year-old who is into a 21-year-old, saying that the guy is scummy...

He's good with the dating advice.

   Seriously, I can't share it here because most of you will be spitting water all over your monitor. Either that or Eddie, AJ, Gary and Carmine will come after us for our heads.

I'll just say this much: CARMEENY JAZZERCIZE!

Fay knows the rest.

My thoughts exactly. :p

He's giving out some solid dating advice. I'm surprised the guys are so good at this...

This sounds interesting.

Ah, Gary. Yes, let's just say I have a 'friend' who worked with him...

^OK, Kimmy, I want a PM or an e-mail! :D

I'll give a summary after it's over, but a lot of it isn't stuff I can post on the board. It's basically a sex advice show, and the guys are pretty snarky.

I did take offense at something the hosts--Dr. Drew and...I can't remember the other guy's name, but I think it might have been him--said, when they suggested a girl who said had been raped that she'd had some sort of abuse in her past. ??? I didn't know the two necessarily went together. It was a bit condescending. It turns out the girl wasn't actually raped--she managed to fight the guy off. Good for her! I wasn't thrilled with what the hosts were saying during that bit though.

None of that has anything to do with Carmine though. He was pretty silent during that.

Carmine says he's "quite single."

He says in L.A. it's difficult to find someone. He says he wants to settle down--he claims he's an "old man" and is not just looking for a hook up.

I figured everyone would want to know that part.

They are pretty snarky...while the advice in some cases is genuine, I think the way they put it isn't necessarily always going to be particularly helpful to the caller.

That rape thing was just offensive. I cannot understand why people make a connection between being a victim of abuse as a kid with rape. Rape is what happens when some gobshite takes it upon themselves to violate another person. They inferred her past might have made it her fault. :scream:

I'm glad Carmine kept quiet. I can respect that. What I'd have liked to hear was him ding them both for that assumption. But better quiet than him say something really stupid.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found that offensive. Yeah, they basically decided to fob it off on being a pattern--I hate it when men try to paint women who've been raped as "perpetual victims." It's just dismissive and takes responsibility off the rapist, which is such bullshit.

I imagine he wouldn't feel comfortable challenging them on their own turf, but given the rest of his answers, I doubt he would have said anything stupid. His advice has actually been decent and respectful throughout the show.

Men forget that they have unearned privilege in society. It's strange because there was a whole thing on LJ earlier where this guy arranged something at a Sci-Fi event where women were issued with badges based on their willingness to allow men to ask them if they could fondle their breasts. I shit you not - can you honestly think of a worse way of objectifying women? :scream:

It led to some interesting links about male privilege in which a guy had the balls to post about rape. He noted that a man's interest is often in discussing it with regards to protecting his own ass, rather than challenging his peers on their behaviour or protecting women. He also made another interesting statement about how the term 'she was raped' should be banned. Not because of the perpetual victim reasoning, but because it puts the victim on the bottom rung looking up and having to prove their case. Again, it removes responsibility from the rapist.

I imagine he wouldn't feel comfortable challenging them on their own turf, but given the rest of his answers, I doubt he would have said anything stupid. His advice has actually been decent and respectful throughout the show.
I guess. But if no-one ever challenges this behaviour, men get to continue to wallow in their privilege...
