Greetings everyone!
I don't normally post in this thread but various statements on this board and elsewhere put me into search mode.
The absence of Jake Berkley has kind of become a sore spot for some and a reason for celebration for others. Y'all know who I am talking about. Some take his presence, rather, the lack thereof, as a signal that Jake and Calleigh are through. Personally I tend to doubt this.
Elsewhere, however, there is some serious fire and venom being leveled at Det. Berkley.
I did think that maybe this was just the usual continuity problems that seem to dog CSI-Miami now and again. When I read a particularly vile post (not here, elsewhere), I decided to do a little digging.
If you go on IMDb and put Johnny Whitworth's name in its search engine you can find out why. As it turns out, he's a busy boy. He has a number of projects in the pipeline. He is currently shooting a film and will be involved in a pilot for a show to run in 2009. It simply could be that he just hasn't been available to shoot for CSI Miami. What are the writers supposed to do? They really can't do anything except work him into the story when he comes back.
I am quite sure we'll see Jake and Calleigh together again, I just think it will be a short while.

Anyway what happened last night and the promo got me thinking.
Last night Calleigh practically lost her rock, her "mother". Plus this is not a very good period for her. I mean w/ all the missing/kidnapping stuff probably this is the worst period of her life and surely Alexx's departure wan't good for her. Who can she talk about hit with??? Yeah there's always Jake but Alexx surely could have helped her in this period.
Plus the promo shows how Stetler will be questioning her for the kindapping stuff because she impaired the evidences (well obviously she had to do it if she wanted to survive).
Anyway this, in my opinion, can be another very bad point which could make Calleigh leave the lab for a while. If I had been her I would have left immediatly after her kidnapping but we all know she's a stubborn girl and probably she could have made it w/ Alexx's help. But loosing a mother and being questioned right after this last departure can make her feel so weak. And it really looks she will leave for a while. Well I have to say that I'm pretty sure she will leave, but I tend to think she will return almost immdiatly, maybe just to think about what happened to her this year.
And if she leaves I'm pretty sure it can only be a good thing for her right now....she has to reflect on her whole life and rest after this year

yeah.. I figured the two of you would remember that.. I had to redo them, Calleigh seemed to think I was making her to 'bright' while Jake thought I was making him to 'dark'. Evil pairing, won't let me do what I want!

I think its sad about Alexx; its their rock, especially Calleigh's and all of this sucks on timing, really. Hopefully either Jake will help her in person or be on the phone with her or something, at least give us some mention to Jake, people! -- But Cal's really going to need support with that promo out, Hopefully she won't be gone long.

Yes, that's where I was going with my statement.
According to Eva's last interview she said someone will leave because Khandi leaves, & someone will be shot, & they won't know if they make it or not, & someone will be killed.
My thoughts on this spoiler is that Calleigh will not be able to take it anymore (just as the reasons FLO said) & this will be a "threat" that she is leaving the lab or she'll just say she needs some time away.
But when this "person" gets shot Im thinking it will make Calleigh come back immediately to help with the case. I have my money on Natalia being the one shot.
I just have this image of the very ass ending.. Horatio with his hands around Ron's neck killing him; the person who is shot laying on the ground helpless; & Calleigh walking away from the lab.. then the dreadful "to be continued" will follow.
Maybe Jake will pop up for the seaon premier to play detective & be there as a comfort to Calleigh

Well I think we'll see her leaving the lab right next week. Probably during the last episode she will have to decide if she can come back or not. But if I were her I would go away for a while. She needs a long vacation w/ Jake to reflect on her whole life and her experience in that lab.

I just think all these things are pointing in the direction of Calleigh as far as leaving.
I would maybe suggest Eric also because of his injury & lord knows he needs to hit some rehab.
But, with all that has happened with Cal combined with EP's comment that Calleigh may not be able to get over this (the kidnapping/alien abduction/missing/whatever) it appears to be her, & yes if I were her I would be taking a break also.
As confusing as that one statement that ELR made was, if it's referring to a character leaving because of Khandi/Alexx ( as she said) then I could only see that effecting Calleigh, more than anyone.

I agree, with everything you said.
Alexx leaving would impact Calleigh more then anyone, and if its someone else, it'll surprise me. Really surprise me, because she's the closet one to her of all.
And with everything going down for Calleigh; I say its Cal.

Hmmm, I haven't wathced that clip yet, so Im going by what FLO said, at this point.
There are still a few possibilities here...
1. maybe Jake is the one who is shot & this is the news she gets ( we don't have to see him , we could just see that Cal gets this news & freaks out, then we Jake later in the season premier.
2. maybe this news is what will make her leave for a while.
3. still, she could decide to take a break & leave at the end, then come right back next season in the first epi because of who gets shot..Natalia, H or whoever.

Well the news refers to the Allies fact, which is they bought their munition from the victim. So Jake probably gave her those news but he isn't involved in anything. This is antother way to mention him and our fav. pairing without showing him.
It still could be n. 3 but I'd tend to think they'll mention Jake.
