Thank's Mr. fact sheet Dynamo1 very interesting, and did anyone watch or care about Bush's final speech last night:confused:still denying any reponsiblity for his mass mistakes:(

I watched his final address. Basically, it was everything I expected. It is kind of sad that most people ignored the address. Then again, hard to blame them. His speech was very predictable. It was all about how (he thinks) he stopped terrorism. The speech itself was well-written. Had it had more depth and had a better public speaker delivered it, I think it would have been something. As it was, it was just a recap of (IMO) a rather distorted view of his presidency. At least he sounded more apologetic than before, or at least like he was aware that it was less than perfect. That's a nice change of pace. Too bad Dick Cheney didn't catch on to that idea.

Well, not really on it's "sad" no one cares or is interested in anything he has to say.. I heard a joke from Jay Leno, that at the end of his administration his approval rating "was 7%, and that's just family members" he did this to himself.. I can't wait for Barack's inaugural speech, should be a blockbuster, he's so charismatic and such a great orator:thumbsup:

If anyone has Comcast cable, they are broadcasting two hours of the inaugural concert on HBO tonight (7-9 EST). They are unblocking the signal, so even if you don't have HBO you can watch it.

Some of the performers include:

Bruce Springsteen
John Mellencamp
Bono
Garth Brooks
Josh Groban
James Taylor
Stevie Wonder

I watched it earlier today on HBO (I think around 2pm).

It was absolutely amazing! Every speaker and performer (save maybe Tiger Woods, who seemed a bit tongue-tied) was amazing. Loved every second of it. They had some really great, and original musical collaborations. It was a great example of bringing everyone together.

It was really amazing! If anyone actually has HBO, they are repeating it tonight and perhaps at other times. There is also an abbreviated video on their web site.

U2's set absolutely blew me away!

And oh my gosh....legendary Pete Seeger at the end singing "This Land is Your Land" with Bruce Springsteen!

One more day. Just one more day. :)

This show was totally entertaining and fabulous, all of them. Garth Brook's blew me away with his version of 'SHOUT" who knew he could rock n' roll, and U2, of course Bono, how many times have they sung this song? and his political rants, he always gets his licks in, but cool. Barack, Michelle, the darling little girls and the Bidens seemed to throughly enjoy all of it. Really well done even in the dreary rainy weather:thumbsup:

Here's a poll of the best to worst Presidents in history~

The rankings differ, but most effectivness studies generally agree about America's best and worst executives~

THE TOP
*George Washington
*Thomas Jefferson
*Abraham Lincoln
*Theodore Roosevelt
*Franklin Delano Roosevelt

THE BOTTOM
*Millard Fillmore
*James Buchanan
*Andrew Jackson
*Franklin Pierce
*Warren Harding

Also, this is usually on the Members Lounge thread, but it's so hiliarious, & topical I thought you'd all get a kick out of this~

Political rants? Maybe I'm recalling incorrectly, but I thought he was talking about Martin Luther King, Jr, as well as how humbled the entire band was to be there. I don't remember any genuinely political (or at least not partisan) comments from Bono...

Wow. I left late for work this morning so I could watch the big moment. I was definitely choked up during the swearing in, and then his speech... very inspiring.

I really do think this is ushering in a new age for the planet. Hopefully the world can come to have a better view of the US from here on out- we already believe that you're all really interested in change after voting in Obama. It's a big first step. And even though he really seems to be the guy who can really get those changes started, I hope all of you proud Americans remember to remain vigilant and keep him to task. Afterall, it's still "For the people, by the people".

Congratulations to all of my US friends. :)

I just got back from Inauguration in the last hour. We left immediately after the Inaugurationa and didn't watch the parade. The crowds were absolutely ridiculous. To give you a sense, DC's population is about 600,000 (though many people commute in from MD and VA). Still, there were more than 6 times that all trying to squeeze into the Mall. And then the Metro traffic... we were literally stuck on the Mall for hours after because of the sheer number of people. Still, I have to say... IT WAS SO WORTH IT!

Absolutely incredible. Obama's speech was incredible. Aretha Franklin! I don't think I need to describe her performance. She is the Queen of Soul (and my favorite artist of all time) for a reason. We were standing by the Washington Monument with so many other people. I think most of the other people near us were other Washingtonians, and it was soo incredible. People just broke out in applause any time the First family was on the screen. I wasn't alive during Kennedy's administration, but I have to imagine that this is what Camelot must have felt like.

I could also definitely tell what a DC crowd it was by who got booed . There's a reason the District votes 90% DNC every time. It's always an enjoyable activity to watch GOP primary results for the District come in, because like four DC Republicans constitutes one full percentage point of the DC Republican vote.

All I can think is OH MY GOD! WOW!

Now that I'm done with the recap, I think I'll go back to defrosting my toes. It was freezing today.

That is awesome that you were able to go. I could only dream of being a part of that! Thanks for sharing the your great experience with us! I think it's great that we've all become a part of history. It's truly overwhelming at times.

I thought I was pretty jazzed, hyper and excited Election night.
Well, Election night has got nothing on tonight. Believe me.
This poem is for all the registered U.S. voters in this extra large forum called Talk CSI who voted for Barack Obama. Why did I call Talk CSI an extra large forum??? Because I'll just bet the member list is well over 5,000. Probably closer 10,000.

Change has come.
It was a long time coming.
Change has come.
I feel like singing but for now I'm humming.
Change has come.
There's no turning back.
Change has come.
Now let's all come together and help pick up the slack.
Change has come, America.
Change has come.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

YES WE CAN!!!--Obama's motto.
YES WE WILL!!!--The next 4 years
YES WE DID!!!--Make history Tuesday November 4, 2008 & Tuesday January 20, 2009

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Call me a dreamer or call me a nut but I think Martin Luther King Jr. is looking down on today's events and smiling and doing this>>> but without the wink.

That's really cool that you got to go happyharper!
I'm sure that it was pure madness and excitement the whole time.
I would have loved to have went, but I live a bit far away and cold weather and I don't get along so good.

We watched most of the preceedings in my Sociology class, and even once the class ended many of us who didn't have another class imediately after stayed to watch. The little room we were in was completely packed with people. Even the secretaries and other classes in the building came to see it too!
It's diffinetely something none of us will forget.

I like your poem Carolyn, it really sums up the day. :)
And there are a little over 8300 members here ;)
