~The Break Room~ - Off-Topic Thread #2

I'm going to jump on the bandwagon, I'm also really tired.

It's funny how Christmas is supposed to be relaxing, were you just watch films and veg out on Chocolate and you end up going back to work worse than when you left. I've been to so many peoples houses over the past two days and I've drunk far to much alcohol.

^ I know what you mean about being really tired this time of year. I slept like a log on the night of Christmas day, and I hadn't really done much apart from sit around eating, drinking wine and opening presents

Oh my, i'm really tired too. Well, i was, but i feel more energetic now!

By the way, CatherineWillows, is your signature the theme song to South of Nowhere? It sounds really familiar.

Yepp! It sure is!! Man, do I love that show! And I'm so obsessed with it that I actually waited 4 hours to download the season finale! :p (I don't get the show on TV, so I have to download the episodes)

Hmm...Okay, I can't win. Today, I overslept. Yesterday, I underslept. I can't win, either way I'm tired :p

^^ I hate it when I oversleep one day and then don't get enough sleep another. I wake up with bags under my eyes either way...

I think I turned into a vegetarian without even knowing it..(well not exactly vegetarian..because I just don't eat meat now.) I still get the protein though..from protein water and soycrisps and beans. I love anything soy, except milk. :p

Ok seriously... those who live in country that uses subtitles instead of dubbing know how funny mistakes can be sometimes... Oh it's a joy of the month when I can read the newest ones in my country (one guy collects those)

Here's a few that... somehow can be explained. First the original quote and then what it has been as translated (I mean - I translate it back to English from Finnish)

Some quotes have bad language - I'm sorry about that (but those are actual quotes from the movies)

Friends:
"So, twins, huh? That's like two births."
"So twins? That's like two birds"
well...births and birds kinda sound the same...

South Park:
"I like titties!"
"I like teddys"
erm...ok? You can hear it like that

Out There:
"Is that your gym bag?"
"Is that Jim's bag?"
*sigh

Brainiac:
"...and which curly haired striker?"
"...and which girly haired striker?"

Late Night with Conan O'Brien
"Nah, that's more Gangs of New York"
"Nah, that's more like Gays of New York"

Miami Vice:
"Judas Priest!"
"That Judas!"

^

The Departed (ok, this is from pirateversion)
"Hey, go save a kitten in a tree, you fuckin' homos!"
"Hey, hang your kidney on a tree, you homo!"

24
"He died of angina pectoris."
"He died of angina"
Erm...bit different diseases...

On...one that annoyed me a lot... hasn't been on anywhere but once in Late Night with Conan O'Brien there was some guest and Conan asked what he had been doing in New York and guy answered "Went to see Yankees game" and it was translated as "Went to see football game" I was screaming. Seriously. It was repeated later on.

 Thanks for sharing those, Ducky.
I have a friend who's partially deaf, so she always watches tv with subtitles on. What I hear and what I see tend to be rather different. And yes, occasionally very funny.

I know...sometimes it's hard to put right but... sometimes...
Like from those "Is that your gym bag" is my fave

My all time fave is this

"Hang in there, I'll get some help"
"Hang yourself, I'll get some help"

I guess it's the prepositions that cause us Finns trouble because we don't have those in our language. So you easily get wrong meaning... or just hear wrong :p

Hmm... okay, heres's a completely random question...
Have you ever had one of those moments where you're lost in thought, and someone comes along and asks what you're thinking about... and you can't remember?

theres a guy i talk to on msn who always asks what im thinking about, half the time its stupid stuff and half the time i dont want him to know, hes been blocked now...

^Oh so many times! Just like when you walk to your room to get something and then you don't rmember what it was :p

It doesn't happen to me often, normally when someone asks me what I'm thinking I try to change the subject as I wouldn't want anyone to be subjected to how strange and bizarre my thoughts are.

What used to annoy the hell out of me is when my ex used to ask me constantly "what you thinking?" it used to annoy the hell out of me, I just used to say "nothing much" when I was really thinking, "should I dump him or hold out for another couple of months."
