^ Don't want her to be Aiden II or Angell II either. And I don't want her to get killed if she finally doesn't suck either. I hate the usual "ohnoez! I sooo promise you I'll catch the oh so evil evil-doer who did this to you! It's no consolation for you since you're dead and all, but still..."

^ I'm sorry, this just made me laugh ridiculously hard. It's so true, they basically replayed the same thing they did with Aiden, for Angell.

Honestly, I liked Lindsay when she first arrived in the show. NY is diverse and it portrayed that with having an "outcast" from Montana (at the same time it reminded me Doc because he moved from Montana to NY ). I might be wrong but maybe Anna's pregnancies derived the character from what it was originally planned because the writers had to find a way to make it work into the story lines? Kinda like a 180˚ at the last minute? Often times when Lindsay is on screen, I feel like they tried to put back the pieces together and she's like a weird uncompleted puzzle lol And I hope they can work on that for S6. Maybe becoming a mother will show us a side of her with never expected? I can already here the not-so-much fans of Anna/Lindsay go "Yikes!" as they read this... LOL

Mary-Sue? Excuse my ignorance but lol what do you mean by Mary-Sue?

Gosh, that is so true :( Didn't thought about the fact that Kaye doesn't have experience. I wonder if the actress that will play her will play it out that she see Stella as a mentor, kinda like Danny with Mac?

Hahahaha! I don't want Aiden II or Angell II neither. I'm still crossing my fingers that they will be original with that new character. AND LET HER LIVE, YAH? Or I'm going to think they have something against cool female characters... LOL

Sorry, I am way too used to using this term!

A Mary Sue is basically a character with ideal, too-perfect characteristics: like (*cough*) bubbly, perky, sassy, confident, usually-pretty, super-smart, it goes on. And every other character adores her, indulges her, thinks she's the coolest or the cutest. She has no flaws. At least none that viewers/readers are meant to see as flaws. And she's usually there so that the author/producers/writers/whoever can bludgeon us (the audience) over the head with how awesome and wonderful she is. She's supposed to be perfect.

The first few episodes I saw Lindsay in, I just wanted to kick her to the curb, hard, because she was so the Mary-Sue of CSI: NY. I warmed to her a lot later because it (obviously) turned out she wasn't nearly so perfect, but a lot of the flaws I grew to like in her are not flaws that the writers originally intended her to have, I think.

I barely remember Peyton, but the little I do remember made her seem a lot like this Mary-Sue. The problems in her relationship with Mac were never her fault, they were always Mac's - Peyton could do no wrong, so she really got irritating.

Angell endlessly bugged me because...well, *points upward at definition*. And we never saw her grow from that idealized caricature into an actual, flawed person.

That could be interesting, but they'd have to plan it out really well. I mean, the thing with Mac-Danny is that you can kind of see Mac trying to substitute his lack of a real family by using the other CSIs (and Danny in particular) as surrogate-children, so to speak. Whereas Danny seems to be looking for a father figure, and clings to Mac because of it. Stella is naturally the nurturing type, but she's never really struck me as wanting to have a maternal, mentor-ish bond with someone (at least, not one she doesn't already have with Danny, Hawkes or Lindsay).

Plus, um, the last thing we need is another emotionally-unstable character who craves approval from one of the lead CSIs

Btw, I totally agree about Anna Belknap's pregnancies, and the chaotic effect they seem to have on Lindsay's character. Lindsay as a character has always stood out more, IMO, in Seasons 2 and 4 when Belknap wasn't pregnant, so I'm interested to see what might happen in Season 6.

I really, really miss Aiden (definitely the only other well-rounded female character we've seen on NY), so if they managed to make Kaye Sullivan like her, I might actually warm to her, a little. But given the description we have of Kaye's character, I can't think of anyone who sounds less like Aiden :(

Oh!!! Thanks for the explanation! Now I understand what you mean  Yeah, they did bring Lindsay as a Mary-Sue character and reading the Kaye Sullivan description, they're heading for the same pattern :shifty: or that's just how it is with TV shows lol My bet is that we'll want to kick that Kaye in the head in her first episode LOL

GOSH, yes! It was always Mac's fault and it made me gnash my teeth every time she had another argument with him. Like she didn't know what kind of relationship she was going to have with a man like Taylor and the job they have, etc. She always strike me as a demanding and whiny person. Though Mac and her managed to have some cute moments... I don't even remember how or why Peyton left.

Hahaha, I agree with you. We never saw any flaws with her. For some reasons, I l like her much but can't put my finger on any reasons .

Hahahaha, oh no, we really don't need someone else like Danny! :guffaw:They're going to have their PMS at the same time and it won't be fun at all  But I was more thinking since Kaye just got out of school it would be more of a student-teacher thing? Because she ask a lot of questions and she's "eager to learn"? lol I don't know. Or maybe it could happen with Hawkes... he's got that professoral feel when he lay out his knowledge to explain the evidences.

And I was thinking... instead of trying to figure out what could be her qualities to fit in (the producers gave us all of that already anyways ), what could be her flaws that would make her fit in with the others? *scratches head* I'll need to make a list of what are the character's flaws so far lol Mac and Danny are pretty obvious.

thanks i was wondering what it meant but just kept skipping along trying to work out what was been said lol :guffaw:
I agree with you i do think Anna's pregnancies played a big part in how Lindsay ended up i loved season 2 lindsay she had a bitch and a moan about stuff but was up for anything i think it was her way of joking around trying to fit in she didn't want to be the new kid.

I noticed more so in season 3 when we weren't meant to see her huge bump lindsay stopped running about with the others and kind of disappeared into the back ground and i don't think we have really got the lindsay from seaon 2 back yet. i'm hoping we see more action in season 6 and her getting stuck in more.

Exactly, and most people related to her in that sense because we're a lot of people that have been in this kind of place where you are the new kid, you don't talk like everyone else... you don't want to be picked on. So you do what you can to fit in and prove that you are more than their misconceptions. Add to that that she didn't wanted to act all "girly girl" in front of Messer that started calling her "Montana" and it was obvious she was in denial about their weird attraction to each other  So silly! And in interviews, Anna said that's what she wanted to portray in Lindsay when she first arrived in NY and I totally got it even though there was other aspects of Lindsay that irritated me!

I don't think we got that Lindsay back either, but I hope that is what Anna and the writers are planning for S6. I don't know if she'll be all Super Woman now that she's a mother and got a family to take care of (that would be more Danny to act like that as seen in S5 lol), but they should use her motherhood against some criminals in the interrogation room. Something involving kids, I don't know. I can't recall a CSI:NY show that had kids as victims (well, Reuben but besides him)... it happened a few times on the other CSIs though. But Lindsay mentioned she was back part-time so... I'm not sure what kind of job Mac will give her? More lab? Little bit of both lab and field?

i like the way you think Cyn-b-demented we same to be getting the same picture i really hope the writers sort it out this season and we get some un-answered questions.

i think it's just part-time for now like she didn't want to be away for too long and forget things (babies turn brain to mush at first lol) so i think she will go back to full time after so many months of part-time.

^The thing is, will Lindsay have as much screen time as she had before? I don't like her, I think the show would be better off her and I don't know what can be done with the pairing she and Danny form apart from the typical cliché stuff: baby gets kidnapped; baby is terribly ill and needs a bone marrow transplant or a terribly expensive treatment; baby is terribly ill, gets kidnapped and needs her meds urgently; baby and mommy's lives are in jeopardy and daddy must save the day... I hope they can come up with something original.

Also, if "minor" characters like Sheldon and Adam get so little time already, what will happen to them when the oh so sexy and clever newbie arrives? *pets both of them and glares at TPTB just in case*

Well, on CSI they usually do pretty well with the storylines Catherine shares with her daughter Lindsay, without straying too far into the cliche minefield. Catherine's daughter is the only other CSI-offspring we really have, isn't she?

[Unless you count Horatio's son, I think - but he's a teenager, whereas Daughter!Lindsay started off on the show when she was 5, right?]

I'm hoping they'll stay away from D/L overdump, but as for screentime...I did notice in Grounds for Deception how Lindsay was supposed to be part-time and leaving halfway through the day, and still somehow managed to get more screentime than Adam and Hawkes. But I thought that was just an isolated case (because the producers wanted to show off Baby Lucy or something). Lindsay doesn't usually get that much screentime anyway, at least, in episodes not centered around her or her and Danny. Usually she is on the same level as Hawkes and Adam in terms of screentime. So if they don't change anything, I doubt we'll notice much difference.

Ugh, good question. I have no clue how newbie Sullivan is going to fit in in terms of screentime, but presumably she'll be sharing the screen with one of the other characters a lot of the time. (Although I think I read somewhere that the rest of the cast were unhappy with this new addition precisely because of the screentime issues.)

Technically, she shouldn't be back at all...whatever happened to maternity leave?? So I'm not sure we'll see much of a difference here either, if Lindsay switches from part-to-full-time. She was technically still part-time in Pay Up, but Mac still had her working the field (in the diner).

:scream:arr im sorry but that annoyed me so much in gfd and pay up i mean it doesnt matter what is going on at work your baby is only a few days old!!! and yeah she was supposed to be there for a little while but she wasnt and why come at all :shifty:

I agree I hope this kaye character can show the writers what a real regular actress(not including melina) acts like.
and i think i might have said it before but PLEASE do not do any kindnapping, urgent baby stories like that it will just be cheesy and cliche and awful :scream:

I agree with you. They only had Lindsey Willows kidnapped once (to get to her grandfather, casino mogul Sam Braun). But, most of the storylines around Lindsey Willows were she rebels after the death of her father/grandfather, etc... Typical pre-teen/teenager stuff. And Kyle came in as a very troubled youth, who eventually got his head on straight with the help of his father. I have no idea what they'll do with a baby storyline. I don't want any of those cliched storylines though. Especially the kidnap one.

That worries me too. The guys have very little screentime already. A new character is only going to make matters worse most likely.

That wouldn't surprise me. I think I'd be unhappy too. Doesn't mean I'd say anything about it necessarily, but I'd be worried.

I hope I won't regret my words but I don't think they'll try anything that involves kidnapping or organ transplant for the baby. It's still just a baby and when Lindsay gave birth, Lucy was healthy as a baby can be when its fresh out of the womb! I think they'll try to focus more on newly weds dramaz? Danny and Lindsay have been together for a short time for being parents already (IMO) so I think that will weight in the balance of things for D/L.

As for Lindsay being already back to work, TPTB were never good with continuity as it was very much discussed in other threads lol

Kinda my problem with this new addition too. We were already not getting a lot from Sid, Adam and Hawkes... to me that just means that we'll probably not get a lot from them for S6 either because the writers will have to build Kaye Sullivan, etc. I'm very disappointed. And Lindsay never really had much screen-time besides when it involved her relationship with Danny. Will it change for S6? Though it wouldn't make sense because 1) she IS supposed to be taking care of her child and how can she be so ready to work after giving birth? 2) they made her mentioned she was back part-time

I love what they did with these storylines!!! Never cliché. They are realistic and I'm sure most mothers can relate to Catherine regarding how she wants to raise her and protect her, etc. And I think Marg being a mother herself helped to bring that realistic feel to the storylines. So I hope they'll do the same for Baby Lucy and her parents! There's also the "Reuben Traumatism" for Danny and I don't know how much he is still affected by it and if it will ever come back to hunt him with his relationship with his daughter?!
