^^ I agree that they've all made mistakes and that Nick is still the best replacement for supervisor. Don't get me wrong I like Nick. I was just responding to this:

I understood it as Nick can't be held into account because Catherine made the mistake of taking Ray to LA. My response is that even if she made that mistake he still should've given her a call about finding Ray and done things accordingly. Even if she made the mistake of taking Ray to LA doesn't make Nick's actions correct IMO.

Perhaps a better wording would be ...

It's Catherine's responsibility that Ray was in LA at all. It's LAPD's responsibility that his escort let Ray get away (seriously that idiot Rookie should have stuck with him!). It's NICK'S responsibility that when his boss told him 'Go get Ray and sit on him' that he did not do so.

Catherine and Nick are both responsible for the mess Ray caused. We won't even get into the lab fiasco (Ray was better off at work than alone at home, but the Doc should have kept him downstairs).

Sucks to have responsibility without any real control over the situation, but that's what it's like being in charge of people. If you've ever had a job where you're the boss, it's like that all the time. Which is why I'm happy NOT being a boss! :D

As Nick said in Invisible Evidence to Sara: if your supervisor tells you to leave a scene to go wash his car, you do it. So he should have taken his own advice and done what he was suppose to do. But I do understand why he did it. But as someone else, sorry don't remember, said that could adversely affect his career by his choice to cowboy up.

That being said, I think Nick is the logical choice to become supervisor. Although Hodges would bring such a new dimension to the lab. Possibly too scary of a thought...

Plus in "Family Affair" (?) when Greg got ticked that he was being sent off to a new case, Nick kind of got on him about it. I think tho that it's kind of like the way it is at work when I train people. I always tell them, "Do as I say, not as I do". I tell them that I've been here long enough to be forgiven for some things that a newbie would be accountable for, but I choose to take the risk when I do them because in my position I can afford the risk, so that could factor in to it some too.

They've all had their moments of insubordination, it's only natural in a workplace to test the boundaries of what your boss will let you do.
Nick's no angel and that's what makes him and the others human, yeah he made the wrong choice to support Ray but in the same vein he made the choice that was right to Nick's character. I remember the episode after they had split the team and he was a bit short with Catherine at a crime scene, they worked it out much the same as in 'cello and goodbye'.

Out of all the characters Nick's certainly the primary candidate for Supervisor, the only other option would be to bring in a new person which would be a bit of a slap in the face to George Eads.

I'm going to try and exclude myself from the supervisor discussion because I love Jorja/Sara so much that naturally I'm biased in her favor.:) They all have positives and negatives as most of you have said but Nick's the obvious choice for various reasons. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the writers decide to pick someone from left-field aka Greggo, have Ecklie do it for a season or two, or let one of the labrats become supervisor.

To change topics really quick, I know that most of the big actors/actresses haven't signed new contracts yet but I remember reading on CSIFiles's front page that the girl that played Morgan in Cello and Goodbye last week has already been promoted to regular status next year.:wtf: Can someone explain how does a new actress's contract come before the regular actors's/actresses's negotiations? I always thought they renegotiated the regulars first and then handled new stars after that.

There's no set way in which they handle contracts anymore. They used to, but I think ever since Friends did their whole 'We all get a raise or we all walk!' stuff, the networks have been trying to get a handle on the new world.

Morgan's signed up for next season. Paul (I THINK) is already contracted.

Marg is in talks, as is Jorja.

From "The Hollywood Insider" and S/12 about Laurence Fishburne he says!

Next season, Fishburne tells us that "He's not looking to go anywhere", I'm having a great time he says, while acknowledging that it was a "challenge" replacing William Petersen's Grissom. "I was cognizant of the fact that Grissom was a much loved character, I made it my business to sit down and watch most every episode of CSI from S/1, till I came on. It was about understanding the world & becoming as immersed in the show as possible "I LOVE IT";)

Desertwind - He has not SIGNED his contract. Only Morgan and (I think) Paul have. Everyone else has yet to sit down with lawyers and agents and hash it out.

This was from a magazine, I didn't say he'd signed a contract nor neither did the article, just posting "spoiler" news~

The fact that Sarah left the lab and then returned means that she's lost a bit of seniority. By rights it should be Nick.

So let's see if I've got this right:
    Jorja: Renegotiating
    Marg: Probable
    Paul G: Renegotiating/Probable
    George: ???
    L.Fishburne: Probable
    Eric: ???
    Rob Hall: ???
    Wallace: ???
    David: ???

Are all of the other actors/actresses for sure coming back? I'm sure they are but in Hollywood you never know.

It's neither a spoiler nor news that Fishburne doesn't plan on going anywhere. My point, and I have was, is that while he's said (to TV Guide, Hollywood Insider and other places) that "He's not looking to go anywhere" that he still hasn't signed anything saying he won't  Given all the spoilers and rumors running around, it's only fair to folks to be as exact as we can be. Saves headaches.

I am 99.99999% sure that Paul G is past 'renegotiation' and at 'signed up for season 12'. I'm trying to cite that and I can't find the article now, of course.

    To fill in the ??s

    George: Probable
    Eric: Probable
Rob Hall: Probable if not a solid lock
    Wallace: Probable
    David: Probable

Wallace and David are likely to stay as main cast, but sort of where they are now, in terms of use, unless they get better offers elsewhere. It's far more likely that Wally would decide to leave than anyone else, but I don't see that happening unless he gets a dream offer (like a lead in another show).
