William/Grissom: The Hottness of Lucky #13

Does anyone have a favorite CSI episode with him or a different one in each season? Hard to beat "JACKPOT" he's in it nearly the whole hour, sizzling performance and jeans, taboot.
It's kind of hard for me to pick a favorite cause there are just so many that had a certain line said or a certain action took that leaves an impression, but I agree, Jackpot is definately hard to beat. That is like THE Grissom episode. It was just him against the town, so to speak...and plus he got to play 'MacGyver'. Of course, it certainly didn't hurt that he had the jeans on and that just happens to be the first thing that comes to my mind when I think about that eppy.

I've just been reading what was posted at the bottom of the last page...

For gods sake!!! I am sick of being told what i can and can't talk about on this thread. I saw Billy in. the. flesh. God forbid i'd be excited about it or on a high about it or want to discuss it. I'm tired of not being able to discuss his current projects. When Endgame is playing next year, i'm not going, but i'll be wanting to hear every last detail about it. Because i'm interested in billy. And every project he undertakes.

I'm tired of not being able to discuss his current projects, only CSI. Whilst I understand this is principally a csi site, it is a Billy thread so we should be able to discuss all aspects of his career not just CSI without a fear of being shot down. As much as I absolutely love Gilbert Grissom, there is more to Billy than CSI. Much much more. He would be horrified if he thought people were stuck on Grissom.

So congrats, you've pushed me off the thread. Any dicussion i do, i'll do it via PM's.

poppylvsgriss, I believe you are referring to my thread?
I never said you couldn't discuss anything in this thread, or that you couldn't be happy about it. ;) I did state this thread is for both the actor and the character, and hopefully if possible a compromise can be made for everyone, even offered a suggestion for further discussions. If you have a problem you can pm me. :)

poppylvsgriss -- Please don't leave the board! Though you're referring to somebody else's posts, I know others have been upset with mine, so I kinda feel it's OK to respond to you here.

I think it's GREAT when people talk about the plays they've seen Billy in, or the movies of his they've seen, etc. As long as people don't get too intimate or inappropriate in their details, I think it's all good!!

Being a fan of Billy should allow you to talk about ALL of his projects and not just CSI....and I don't think others who haven't seen his plays need to feel like "fifth wheels." If anything, hearing about experiences that others haven't been able to have is at least one of the functions of this board. I think. Right?

Not sure it's your post specifically, Destiny, but it's a contribution to the whole ethos of the thread. I'm sure PLG will get in contact or respond. But it's something that's happening all too often.

Yes, it's a CSI site -but Billy has left as a leading man. He is playing Billy for the first time in a long time.

We can't stay in a cocoon. Nor can we pander to the need to REPEATEDLY and I mean, repeatedly, rehash and rediscuss our favourite episode. I have felt, as I have intimated before, that we generally have to walk on eggshells to avoid upsetting particular posters who like to command the thread and run off to complain when they feel 'uncomfortable.'

What about us? We are being made to feel uncomfortable now. That's not fair. We are being penalised because we got off our backsides and actually went to see Billy.

Christine and I started thinking this time last year, about going to Chicago to see Billy perform no matter what. We didn't even know the name of the play he would be doing because it was still unannounced.
Then we finally get to see Billy and it almost feels like that let down after Christmas or after planning a wedding. You know when you plan and wait so long and it finally happens, it's over WAY too soon and you're left in a sort of dream state...lol  (dreaming of Billy is a good thing!!!)

Gilsgal is absolutely correct. This trip to see 'Blackbird' has been a year in the planning. It's had a huge build up. I have had to save up for a year in my 'Billy Fund' to pay for and finance my spends in Chicago! I've been counting down the classes, days, weeks til we broke up for the school holidays. PLG and I have been talking, texting and posting on here in the build up and during the countdown and SHARING that with other people who have been going through the same processes all over the US. That's been exciting for me too to read other people preparing to see him in his play. Then BANG! It's over. And the come down is numbing. Well that's that then. But here, we have the opportunity to chat about it and talk it over with people who have experienced the same emotions.

And it all comes from CSI. That's why this is a Grissom/William thread. However, if this stays as a CSI thread it will die. Everyone will get bored, except, perhaps one poster, but they will have the thread all to themselves. Hardly a discussion. Now, for the first time in ages, this has become a discussion instead of stagnating. It's been a discussion and we have been DISCUSSING.

Billy may go back and do a cameo or too. But he has moved on. This thread has to accept that, and do the same.

I didn't see 'Dublin Carol.' Did I 'feel like a third wheel' then? No. I was excited for those going - especially Gameface. Who has also stopped posting on here too. I wonder if that is connected to the current board undertones...? I wanted to know more. Discuss what he did, the play, his character, did they meet him? Was he grumpy? lol! If you're a fan you're a fan and you immerse yourself. I'm not going to 'Endgame,' but I want to know how Gilsgal, Crim and CSIz get on and what they think. I'm sure, after 'Blackbird' and the Cubs, I'll go see Billy again in a year or two when it's a play that I want to see (and the Cubs are at Wrigley!) Will this thread still be wanting to know which is our favourite episode??

Destiny, I don't think this needs another 'Billy's Plays' thread. This is the place. Yes. We have reviewed on WPAP. Yes. We've shared our thoughts on the play with others who have seen 'Blackbird.' I have answered questions from those not going, on here. I've answered everything they have wanted to know despite being accused of being 'disrespectful' not long afterwards. Everyone has been included. It's up to them how much THEY want that inclusion. But Billy has moved on and is doing new things. People on here need to realise the need to move forward. We'll always have CSI. But we will have to wait for something new to discuss when we see or hear that he will definitely be in a particular episode.

I've just bought the second half of CSI and I'm listening to the 'Cockroaches' commentary with Billy and William Friedkin while I type this. I'm not denying or wanting to deny I love Billy through CSI. But this has to stop. Billy is more than CSI and more than 'Blackbird.' Eventually, our excitement will fade. But at the moment it's still in a faze of giddyness and I'm not going to apologise for that.

Being a fan of Billy should allow you to talk about ALL of his projects and not just CSI....and I don't think others who haven't seen his plays need to feel like "fifth wheels." If anything, hearing about experiences that others haven't been able to have is at least one of the functions of this board. I think. Right?

Need I say more?

I was going to PM CSIz_4, britfan and poppy about problems that poor Crim has been experiencing with being harassed by a certain someone, but I see that the whole thing has exploded out into the open already, so I'll just add my two cents worth in here.

Yes, I joined this board 2 years ago because of my love for Billy on CSI. I thought Grissom was one of the best characters on TV and I adored the way that Billy brought him to life every week. It was great to come in here and discuss what I loved about an episode or the character.

I can remember when certain people started talking about movies he had been in and saying that I should watch Billy in this movie or that. I had never seen most of them before, but I relished hearing about the movie and then did my best to try to get my hands on a copy of it to watch. I never felt like a fifth wheel or that I didn't fit in. It was just another step on my Billy journey.

But, I agree with BF, there is only so often that we can rehash what Billy movie we liked best or what CSI episode is our favourite. If we keep doing that, it's like saying that Billy died when he left CSI and that nothing that he does from now on matters at all. Billy would be heartbroken to think that we can't move forward with him and celebrate what he loves doing best which is live theatre.

Sure, he might come back and do and episode or two on CSI, but is that enough to sustain us? Are we to talk only about those episodes until the next time he does a guest appearance? He is a vibrant, amazing actor and this thread is supposed to celebrate ALL aspects of his career, not just the character Grissom or movies that are 10 or 20 years old.

I find it so much more exciting to hear about what Billy is doing NOW. Sure I saw Blackbird and it was amazing and I feel like talking about it, but I also felt that way when GameFace went to see Dublin Carrol. I wanted to hear everything that she had to say about the play, Billy's performance...every little tidbit.

We were told before the 6 of us (GameFace, britfan, poppy, CSIz_4, Crim and myself) went to see "Blackbird" that people wanted to hear about it...wanted each detail. So one by one we come back, and some of us have really great stories to tell about meeting Billy, and then we get smacked about being stalkers and being disrespectful. That hurt...and I hadn't even gone to see the play yet. So when I came back from my turn at seeing Billy, I didn't want to post on here for that reason. I PM'd the people who I was closest to on the thread and we talked. I refused to share my Billy memories with anyone else.

And I guess that is the saddest part of all this. We all love 1 actor, but there is a section of us, who is being made to feel that we are horrible people because we went to see Billy in a play and got excited.

I can't operate while walking on eggshells...so I think this is my good-bye as well.
Those of you who want to continue keeping in contact, PM me and I'll give you my email addy.

Could there be a bigger misunderstanding of what I said? Apparently. - Tell me where I said you couldn't talk about it? (not someone else) me? Such as plays, or movies? Not going to find it. Now if you were not referring to me I apologise and correction noted.

As to the other thread I was talking about, instead of assuming what I meant it was never asked what I meant was it? No, so lets try this, say William does a play with someone from NCIS, Criminal minds, who knows the muppets, so on and so forth. While it would be about WP (in your discussion) what about those of you who want to include in your discussions the other actors as well?
I just "suggested" the thread for Plays in GM&TV so that not only could you discuss in detail his plays (and I mean all glory), but also plays he or some other actor that you might love has done. I am not certain as I haven't looked but I don't think there is even a thread for anything along that line, so essentially you would be adding to the culture of those who might not have known (about a play) or seen anything about it, but might not come in here either.

Personally I don't care if you discuss WP and his plays or movies, this thread is for both the actor and characters, I suggested (there it is again), now was I asked to clairfy that? No. Would you like me too? Fine, you want to talk about meeting him and how happy it made you, cool, you want to discuss the play, cool. But don't forget like you feeling that a constant subject is being shoved down your throats, someone might feel that way about you. Does that mean you stop talking about it? NO!

As to the rest of this continuing on the board as with someone restricting your comments (unless a mod has a reason) a couple of "Suggestions".
one should always ask a person to clairfy something you might not understand.
Example if I may, erep went back and clairfied when realizing that what was said was mis-taken, and they mentioned that a couple times that what was said was clairfied. My post was misunderstood by some and instead of PMing me and asking for a clairfication or respectfully asking me on the board to elaborate further. Suddenly all as pointed out "hell broke loose". The other is that the internet is a funny/funky little thing, you can say something as a joke, or in seriousness and it be taken the opposite of what you meant. Sometimes even emoticons help and don't help.

I have talked with PLG and it wasn't my post to clear that up, so by me asking her to please verify/Clarify it helped to clear up a few things for me and hopefully for her as well.

I think this blew up way to much, way to fast and I think that everyone involved needs to calm down & breath. And remember before you decide to leave that, I can't stop anyone who wants to leave over this, but leaving over a confusion/misunderstanding(s), isn't helpful to you or those around you, it just makes it worse. No one person can tell you to stop talking about something, unless they are a mod of the forum with a good reason. Honestly if there is a problem, the best thing to do is contact the mods via PM to discuss it, where it is more apporperiate. ;)

Lastly I just want to add for clairification that no one is in trouble, so you can breath there too. ;) Thank you.

I just wanna put on the thread that it wasn't Destinys post that made me put post that earlier. It was another one. I completely understand that she is just trying to sort this all out. What I do object is that certain people are bullying and using the mod to try and stop us discussing non-csi Billy related matters. Like destiny said, no-one can stop us discussing Blackbird. Or Endgame when he does it. I'll be lovin all those discussions we are all going to have about Endgame. I won't be going as I said earlier. But I'll be wanting all the details. cos I'm interested in Billy as an actor and as an individual. Not just as Gil Grissom in CSI.

WOW, indeed:wtf: I was one fan who raved and complimented and said positive comments about those who were fortunate enough to see the play. This did get blown out of proportion. For me I was courteous, polite and so thrilled for those who saw his play, however, repeating the same rehortic over and over, gets redundant. AND WE DO UNDERSTAND.... All I was doing was making a suggestion, and thought it was a good idea, not something fans would take offense too. He is going to be back in S/10 CSI, and that's probably 99.5% sure. And on his movies, I haven't seen all of them but enjoy seeing reviews about them. NO one is telling anyone else what to do or say. On another site I frequent, they have a thread called BILLY'S PLAYS where fans go exclusively to talk about that. On him being gone, not really, when one quits a job that's it, he's
still ex.producer, so he's not moved on, just doing something different for now, he did "Dublin Carol' and returned to CSI & there are other characters, on CSI, the fun is talking and comparing and sharing stories about when they were here~And I apologize if I ticked anyone off, maybe I was offended as well~And sorry Destiny that you had to come on here and state you ideas, but your appreciated~

Thanks, GG for standing up for me :)

It's a shame that a discussion about a man we all love & admire had to get so out of control, but hopefully we'll all learn from it and move on with our lives....I have no problem discussing CSI, but that's not the ONLY thing Billy's involved in, nor is it the most important thing to ME that he is involved in....All aspects of his acting career should be talked about and admired, and clearly we'll all emphasise what part of that career means the most/is most important to us, whether it be CSI or Blackbird.

In closing, I want to say that the reason we are all talking about 'Blackbird' SO MUCH is beacuse the people who can truly understand our excitement and appreciate seeing hte man live are on HERE, on these boards....There's really nobody else we can all rant to (families are sick of it, friends are sick of it, etc) and so we come here....So take that as a compliment, everyone.

PM me if you wish :)

Sorry Destiny. It wasn't you I was venting at. It was a previous post to yours. I'm totally sorry that I didn't make it clear. Apologies if you think it's you I'm angry with. It's not. I am breathing all calm and peaceful in your direction!

Having read all this since I said my piece, it's interesting that I'm not the only one who feel censored. Here's to Billy's cameo in CSI and 'Endgame.' (As pants as that is!!)

No one is ever alone. No worries now just relax and talk.

Specifically the fact that you all brought something to my attention that I forgot about. I need three recommendations for you all, for a new name.
*holds up hand* I know you like this one, but you know what we tend to change it up a bit I don't know what we will go with, it could be one of the suggestions, it could be a combo of them. The number doesn't change and lmfao keep it clean. ;) :p

Destiny: Clean!?!? LOL Yeah right.... Just kidding ;) ;)
Are you currently taking suggestions?

Gooooooooooood I'm like in mourning or something!! 'Blackbird' ends this week, ya'll! GOD I can't even believe it...It's day after Christmas x 100000....Very sad....*sigh* I seriously think that 'Blackbird' will go down in history as one of the most phenomenal play that will ever hit Chicago (or theater in general) theater, period. I regret very much not being able to see it twice.

I think I need to go watch Manhunter....anyone have any objections? ;) I need to soothe my sad soul....with some SEXY Billyness....Ya'll so love how it's almost a preculder to 'CSI'? Like he's in that bedroom yammering into his tape recorder about COD, blood spatter, etc and it's just like you see future Grissom....*sigh* Only I think he's MUCH sexier when he's older. *skips off to wear out my Manhunter DVD* Thanks, for that, by the way, bestie :)

PS- KICK SOME BUTT TONIGHT, CUBBIES!!!!

I am hoping that Billy's guest appearance happens early in the season. I need to have some reason to actually watch CSI again.

As for Endgame, don't know for sure whether I'll be able to go next year as I'll be celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary and my husband and I are wanting to go to Cuba. If money permits, then yes, I'm off to see Billy again. I'm hoping that he does a play in the fall of 2010. I think autumn in Chicago would be wonderful.

I know what you mean Crim. Blackbird was an amazing play and an incredible experience. I feel very similar to the way I felt when Grissom left CSI...so very sad. I hate the waiting game...waiting for Billy to have his guest appearance, waiting for the next play. Thank God for old movies and DVDs....lol!!!

I agree that Will Graham in Manhunter is a precursor to Gil Grissom and CSI. I know that Graham was a profiler, but a lot of what he did ie: retracing the murderer's steps etc, manifested itself in Grissom later on. Even the beard comes from Graham....yum.
