TV Show Nominations

Re: TV Show Emmy Nominations

Aiden, I copied this from Destiny's link and was watching it closely because Gillian Anderson (Scully from X-Files) was nominated for Bleak House but she lost to Helen Mirren:

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Miniseries Or A Movie
Helen Mirren - Elizabeth I HBO
Kathy Bates - Ambulance Girl Lifetime
Gillian Anderson - Bleak House (Masterpiece Theatre) PBS
Judy Davis - A Little Thing Called Murder Lifetime
Annette Bening - Mrs. Harris HBO

Re: TV Show Emmy Nominations

Helen Mirren won for her portrayal of Elizabeth I in the HBO miniseries of the same name.

I loved the strength that Dick Clark showed and his sense of humor it was so encouraging to see that, he deserved that standing ovation, and so much more, and to the critics that thought he shouldn't be in public till he is better :p shame on them.
That just shows you how shallow the media has become. They act like having a health crisis is beneath a "star". Do they think he should just sink into the background and become invisible? They said the same thing about Kirk Douglas after an appearance on the Academy Awards. IMO it's amazing that Dick Clark survived the stroke and managed to make as much recovery as he did, let alone stand on a stage in front of his peers to accept some well-deserved recognition. You know he had to struggle to get there.

Methinks these critics need a humanity check.

Re: TV Show Emmy Nominations

They didn't really show any of the people I was interested in seeing. I know the CSI shows weren't up for much but it's still a shame. The only people I saw were Sofia Milos on the red carpet, and Billy P presenting an award. They had a clip of Marg in one of those montages, but that could have been from a different ceremony.

But dude, the cast of House were all there, they got a nom, and the only person we saw was Hugh. But they edited loads over here, did anybody see any of them guys?

NBC Expresses Regret for Air-Crash Skit

<SNIP>
NBC expressed regret Monday for an Emmy Awards comedy skit that included a mock plane crash and aired on the network the evening of a fatal Kentucky jetliner accident.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the many families who lost loved ones in the plane crash in Kentucky on Sunday, and to the entire community that has suffered this terrible loss," NBC said in a statement the day after the ceremony.

"In no way would we ever want to make light of this terrible tragedy," NBC said. "The filmed opening during the Emmy telecast was meant to spoof some of television's most well-known scenes. The timing was unfortunate, and we regret any unintentional pain it may have caused."

Emmycast Wins Only So-So Ratings for NBC

<SNIP>
Kiefer Sutherland, "The Office" and all the other Emmy winners had a good night. So did Emmycast host Conan O'Brien, who scored plenty of laughs. But Emmy wasn't so fortunate, nor was NBC, which carried the awards program.

Sunday's awards show drew its fourth-smallest audience ever, according to preliminary figures from Nielsen Media Research.

Re: TV Show Emmy Nominations

Hmm, I'm sure it was unitentional on their part. I just figured it was a spoof on Lost or something.

I'm not surprised about the ratings. I don't know about other countries but their wasn't much advertisment for it. I wasn't planning to watch it because I feel that the nominations weren't accurate of people's performance. Alot of very talented people were overlooked for some that I didn't feel deserved it.

Re: TV Show Emmy Nominations

That was in bad taste :( not cool- and certainly not funny -stupid and absurd-not to mention "tacky"----------and on another subject-- and there was last night, a clip of Billy kissing Jann Karl of "ET" briefly- :((he's always kissing the girls] :p and said hurriedly, "got to go see Prince" and dashed off- he was alone

Re: TV Show Emmy Nominations

It was a spoof for Lost and I think people should have understood it.

Anyways.. I had a chance to see Emmys on last Sunday. It was bit clipped but... and missed the red carpet bit.

Oh man I was laughing at Hugh Laurie when he was doing his "french" representation after Helen Mirren.

Kiefer <3 "I see my dad over there... hi"

How amazing is Helen Mirren. I think she's one of the best actress in the world.

Mariska Hargitay... we see so old episodes of L&O:SVU that I didn't recognise her  I was like "eh??" when she won. It was great :D
See...we only get one L&O and they keep changing it. during the spring it was SVU, now it's original and probably during the new year slot will go to CI's 2nd season.

Re: TV Show Emmy Nominations

A question about that spoof.

Who was the other person in the closet in South Park bit?

Re: TV Show Emmy Nominations

So it was Tom? I thought so first but then I though he said "bruce come out of the closet" but I think it was "Cruise" then?

it was hilarious :D

Not to mention that Grey's Anatomy has *10* nominations! ;) I'm pretty sure they'll win at least 3 awards out of the 10 nominees.
