in Passionada she plays a Portuguese woman and in Miami she is playing a columbian maybe that has something to do with the thickness of her accent.

Wow! Here in Portugal I have never heard of that movie! Was it released a long time ago? Wait a minute: Brazilian actress Sónia Braga is on that movie too? If she is, I may have heard something a year or two ago... It is about what?

I surely would love to hear the accent, then I could tell you how good actress she is, eh, eh! :devil:

By the way, “Passionada” is not a Portuguese word... “Apaixonada” (in love / passionate) is. “Live and learn”, eh, eh! :p

'Passionada' was released in 2002. It's a wonderful film - really heartwarming and Sofia is excellent in it. :)

Well worth seeing if you get the chance. :D

Wow! I know your post was written a long time ago, but I am so pleased to see there is someone who enjoys my country’s original song! :) I could help you with the lyrics if you want me to, although I must advise in advance that some words just don’t have a possible translation.
Nowadays, we have some young amazing fado singers. I enjoy them more than Amália Rodrigues actually. Have you heard of Mariza? Send me a pm if you want to talk more about it.

I myself have studied a bit of fado. Sofia has said that, for the film 'Passionada', she studied Rodrigues. I believe my favorite fadista though is Misia.

For those of you who don't know, Fado means fate in Portuguese. It's linked to the word saudade which means you miss someone, something, or have a strong and mixed feeling of nostalgy and love. Obviously in 'Passionada' she was singing for her lost husband.

Thanks. Fado really is a bittersweet thing to learn about. I've been rather interested in it since I first saw the movie. I've read that one of the first times it was sung (that was recorded) was, just after a ship-wreck where fishermen drowned in the 1400's, and the wives would take their clothes to the shore and sing their fadista.

Wow, I haven't heard that in awhile. I know a lot of people were suprised about how she sounds in that. Very perfect english. I remember Sofia says that her fav episode that she filmed is 'Big Brother'.

wow...i don`t breathe as long as the vid go on...she really speak very well english...even i understood 90%...

and when she was talk about H and Y...OMG...this sweet smile on her face :) she love her character and H ...i like the way she describe theirs friendship..this is 1:1 with my opinion :devil:

out of the topic : i suppose that before she tell that is come again in S4 the electricity go off, and they did not save this info in the interview :lol: :lol:
