Re: The Rest In Peace & Remembrance Thread

I had just read this. I remember his show when Dolly was on it. Tells my age doesn't it? lol He'll be missed that's for sure. RIP Porter Waggoner.

Re: The Rest In Peace & Remembrance Thread

Sorry to hear of the news on Porter. He just released some music not very long ago. And Dolly's "I will always love you" was written for him when she was leaving his show to go out on her own.

Re: The Rest In Peace & Remembrance Thread

I always loved Evelyn Hamann and still do. She was one of the funniest and most talented comedians in Germany! I will never forget her performances with Vicco von Bülow (Loriot)....that was way too funny!
I couldn't believe that she'd died when I heard it on my way home.

She will certainly be misssed!

Re: The Rest In Peace & Remembrance Thread

That is so sad. She was brilliant in the Loriot sketches and I also really enjoyed "Adelheid und ihre Mörder".

She was such a funny person and will surely be missed. :(

Re: The Rest In Peace & Remembrance Thread

It's such a shame about Porter Wagoner. He was a legend and helped make the Opry what it was. He'll be missed. :(

For all the German members: I'm very sorry for the loss of Evelyn Hamann. It sounds like she was a German treasure.

From TV Guide online:

Top Chef Dies

Friedman Paul Erhardt, aka Chef Tell, died at the age of 63 on Friday. His good humor and heavy German accent made him a well-loved fixture on such shows as Regis and Kathie Lee and Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, but he is perhaps most famous for being the rumored inspiration for The Muppet Show's hysterical Swedish Chef.

Re: The Rest In Peace & Remembrance Thread

Ach! I remember watching Chef Tell on PM Magazine back in the day! AIYA! I'm so sorry to hear he's gone on to that big kitchen in the sky....

OK, first post ever here:

Evelyn Hamann, German comedian and actress, died at the age of 65.

For all Germans, sorry, no article in English yet

She'll be missed, one of the funniest persons I've seen on TV. May she rest in peace.

I was going to post this too. Evelyn Hamann was my favorite actress when I was young, I have watched almost everything she has done. She was a great inspiration and role model, I couln't believe it when I heard that she was dead. I will certainly remember her as an amazing actress. May she never be forgotten.

Re: The Rest In Peace & Remembrance Thread

Actor/Singer Robert Goulet died, age 73, he was waiting for a lung transplant, and didn't make it! great voice, and great guy may he RIP :(

Re: The Rest In Peace & Remembrance Thread

Ouch! Goulet and Porter Wagoner--I have fond memories of both of them. My dad watched them on TV as a kid. I also remember Robert Goulet did a bunch of commercials about afternoon Malaise where he messes with your stuff if you get sleepy in the afternoon. I'm sorry to hear he's gone...

Re: The Rest In Peace & Remembrance Thread

Desertwind, you beat me to it. I was going to write it. I remember Robert Goulet, he was a great actor and singer.

Re: The Rest In Peace & Remembrance Thread

RIP to Deborah Kerr, Michael Tylo, Porter Wagoner, & Robert Goulet.

Also news from CMT.com:
Prominent Nashville manager Frank Callari died in Nashville on Friday (Oct. 26). He was 55. Callari, a graduate of the Hotel Ecolier in Lausanne, Switzerland, first worked as general manager of the Hilton Inn at JFK Airport in New York City. After earning a degree in music technology from New York University, he worked in music for several years before moving to Miami, where he met and eventually managed the Mavericks. He also at various times managed Ryan Adams, Lucinda Williams and Junior Brown. He also had worked as senior VP/A&R and artist development for Lost Highway Records.

Re: The Rest In Peace & Remembrance Thread

Wow that's a shame about Robert Goulet :( He had such a great voice. I remember him from the Mike Douglas talk show area.
