Wow, really sad to hear about Benoit. He was one of my favorite wrestlers, and I really hope that the story that he killed his family aren't true.

Re: The Rest In Peace & Remembrance Thread

RIP Benoit. He was one of my dad's dearest friends and I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times. What a nice guy. So sad to hear. :( He will be missed dearly. :(

Re: The Rest In Peace & Remembrance Thread

Rest In Peace Benoit. He was kind enough to answer a fan letter from me about 10 years ago and sent a lovely autographed photo.

The news of the Benoit family deaths is getting more and more sad. I am not sure anyone can kill a child. What a sad event.

Taiwanese Director Yang Dies at 59
Jul 1, 1:34 AM (ET)

HONG KONG (AP) - Edward Yang, who won best director in 2000 at the Cannes Film Festival and was known for his realistic portrayals of modern Taiwan, has died of complications from colon cancer, a film industry consultant said Sunday. He was 59.

Yang died at his home in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Friday, Norman Wang told The Associated Press. Wang said Yang's family asked him to release the information to the media.

Yang had been battling colon cancer for seven years, Wang said.

The director studied engineering in Taiwan and obtained a master's degree at the University of Florida. He worked as a computer engineer before becoming a filmmaker.

Yang favored stories set in the Taiwanese capital, Taipei. Among his works are "A Brighter Summer Day," a 1991 film set in 1950s Taipei about Elvis-worshipping teenage boys who get involved with gangsters.

Yang won best director at Cannes in 2000 for "Yi Yi (A One and a Two)," about a Taiwanese family that copes with the serious illness of their elderly mother.

He is survived by his wife, concert pianist Kaili Peng, a young son and a younger sister.
