"The Panty Sniffer" Discussion *SPOILERS*

There's also the possibility that maybe Vartann had images of Bell getting ready to try to rape Catherine or something.

Who? What? When did that happen? I thought Bell was the one cop that framed Warrick? When did he attempt to rape Catherine? And Vartann was there?

Oops, sorry about the confusion there! My bad. =)

K-Bug, I watched the ending scene again as well. Vartann took the shot when Bell had moved his gun away from Catherine's head. If he had taken a shot before hand (according to my hubby at least) Catherine would have been dead or at least severely wounded. I think he did freeze a bit, and if you look at Bells face when he first opens the room and points his gun, he squints a few times, Like he's in a daze not really focusing on what he was doing. Cath probably saw that and thought she could take him down in his drug state. Right idea? NO! Drama filled? YES!

I would like to hear, see about how she felt, what she told Vartann if anything and how they move on.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I LOVED the ending. I love "Action/I Can Take Down Whoever I Want" Cath, so this was right up my alley. She's a feisty one. But in all seriousness, I'd love to see this touched on in the future. Maybe a nightmare or two, or even a call to Tony/Lou if Alex Carter isn't in the episode.

But like I said before, that isn't gonna happen cause in CSI World the writer's have the attention span/memories of a fruit fly. So it's up to the Wonderful World of Fanfic.

Why was Cath working undercover with Det. Vartann, instead of say Brass, or another CSI? Since when does she take such risks? I still loved the Nick and Ray camraderie, Nick is so kind, he's got seniority over Ray, but doesn't pull rank and treats him with respect and kindness like their equal~

My opinion: Since Brass was working the case, as were many of the vice/homicide cops, I'm guessing they just called an "all hands on deck" for that case. So Brass was on the floor, and Vartann got put up in surveillance. Just because someone is a vice cop doesn't mean they can't help out with homicide, and vice versa. Detectives are routinely shuffled around to wherever they're needed. It's not that farfetched. As for being in the room, perhaps Vartann knew Catherine would be monitoring the room and volunteered for that position.
Also, there wasn't supposed to be any risk involved. I don't see how being in an adjoining hotel room and watching someone on a tv screen is all that dangerous. What was SUPPOSED to happen was that everyone would be gone, Catherine would process the room and leave. Clean and simple. Of course things didn't go that way, but it's not all that unusual.

I'm thinking that because chemicals and whatnot were involved, they wanted someone familiar with all the stuff being used; therefore a CSI. Catherine was walking Vartann through everything the two were doing. And I recall someone asking how Vartann should have known that the stuff was explosive? He probably did, but not which exact chemical and under what circumstances. Hence, why Catherine was there.

But that's just my theory. :)

Vartann seemed to know a lot about the two drug guys that they were watching - their pasts, their tendencies, etc, so I'm guessing that's why he was the one watching in the room. Brass seemed to be the one in charge of the whole operation (as he was instructing everyone on the radio when they went to the surge), so it would be logical that he was downstairs in the casino where he could move quickly when needed. Also, at the beginning the drug guys were in the casino partying before the one went up to the room where Brass was keeping watch - so each detective/uni had his own area to watch.

As for Cath being in the room, that makes the most logical sense. With all the chemicals, they would need a person trained to handle hazardous chemicals, as well as preserve the evidence they needed to convict the guys. Being the supervisor, Cath would want to be there to make sure everything was handled properly and make sure all evidence was secure & thorough. Remember, Brass said how they wanted to catch the guys in the act of selling to give the DA hard proof where they couldn't get off on a technicality.

Hi All, I really liked the Panty Sniffer ep but for the life of me could not understand what the heck was Ms. Willows doing going undercover. I felt that that was really a stretch. Didnt they have like a real undercover officer, with experience in undercover to this job? And what up with the kiss?

Love the episode. It was fun from start to finish. Great acting too from Archie and from the dude whom Nick and Ray "nabbed". Have to say I was pretty grossed out by a lot of it.

Not sure I liked the ending... why didn't Cath call out when she disarmed the suspect? Why didn't Vartann shout something to get his attention? What was with the freeze? What was with the look Cath gave him? Anger? Confusion? She couldn't have known he was standing there... There were so many ways that ending was wrong it bothered me a lot.. ahh well, next episode they will either bring ti up, or it won't be mentioned ever again. :)

Still A for the episode :)

I liked the episode. Not becouse the cases were dramatic or exciting ,mainly becouse we got great character moments.I liked Greg with Archie combo and the Ray and Doc one as well. Also Nick blushing is so cute.:)And I liked Catherine and Vartan together but that's for another thread.Ending was interesting. There has to be a story about Vartan.

I was not exactly grossed but definely not amused about the "sniffing".Overall,I will give it a 7.

I just finished watching "The Soup" and the video clip of the week was a montage of Nick and Ray saying "panties"! That was pretty funnny! :guffaw: Ray saying "it's all about the first whiff" about the vending machine of usrd panties was also there! I thought they completely forgot this hilarious episode! I was hoping for it last week but at least it was included this week! I hope you check it out. :)

I think it was the third time CSI was featured on "The Soup" this season. The first was the first scene from "Bloodsport" where the coach woke up with badly beaten bloody head and was able to make coffee, brush his teeth etc. The second was the first scene from "Lover's Lane" where a decapitated head came out of the bowling ball counter.

Thanks for the head's up! I caught it last night. It was pretty good. I'm glad they focused on (ie. made fun of!) LF instead of George!

You're welcome! Ray's line was so funny including his facial reaction. Also the "blue and red pills" said by Joel was hilarious as if he meant something else.

Goodie! Everybody's favorite titled CSI episode.

I was wondering when or even if they would re air this episode. :D

Good episode but I wasn't satisfied that this was the awaited Catherine-centric episode of the season. I was expecting more compelling story like in 'If I Had A Hammer.'

I'll be away :( No worries, that's why they invented DVR :)

I loved this episode! From the name...to Catherine and Vartann kissing...and just how we get to see a deeper side of Vartann.
