The Official Pet Thread pt2

Love the cat pics! We have 3.
One sleeps down by my feet, one sleeps on the floor and one sleeps on my husband's pillow until he pushes him off and the cat ends up sleeping on my pillow.

Advice for getting your pets to sleep in their beds? Sleep in them yourself and once the animals realize that it's your bed they'll sleep in
Thanks for the advice, Hun. :guffaw: But I think I'll pass on that even though they do sleep in my bed.

Jacquie, do you allow customers to bring their pets into your store to shop? I love pet stores that do that. I took mine to Petco the other day and Daisy tried on new dresses, but she prefers her pretty princess dress and we have found out that Peanut is a great Driver

Yes customers are allowed to bring their pets into the store. Our store is in a neighbourhood that does a lot of walking so sometimes the customers can't go past the store without the dogs dragging them in. We give the dogs treats when they come in :) that way they keep coming back  Most of the dogs come in on are restrained because it's like a kid in the candy store. Just so much to see and smell. The two stores cats are veterans of the store and are used to the dogs. 95% of the time the dogs and cats ignore each other. We do let the customers know that the cats do have their front claws just in case the dogs get too close.

Speaking of pets coming in to work, I work at the drive up at the bank most of the time, and people always come through with their doggies in the cars. People sure do love their pets! And they love it when you make a fuss over them.

One older man...his wife died recently, and he always comes through with his fuzzy dog, Teddy Bear. He sure loves that little guy, even more so now, I suppose. If he comes without Teddy, we give him a treat to take home for him. He loves that. :)

Then there's the little dog that wears the leather Harley hat.

One man, his little dog barks so LOUD in the speakers that it scares us! I like holding the treat up so he can see and making him bark to scare the other girls. :) Then one day, I pushed the drawer out with the dog treat, and the man was looking for his money but it wasn't in there yet. So I told him he had to bark for it like the dog did. And he did it! Now I make him bark for his money all the time!

My favorite tho, is Snickers. :adore: He's an older, black lab who lives at the vet's office. The girl brings him through in her little car, and he clamors over her to get to the window. Then he looks in with his big brown eyes and just cocks his head when I show him the treat. He's soooooo sweet!!!

I put the treat in the drawer and push it out, and he sticks his whole big head in to get it! I always give him three biscuits...a green one (salad), a brown one (bacon entree), and then a yellow one (peanut butter for dessert). Then I have to clean up his drool, but it's worth it. :)

Rescued black labrador retriever pays it forward
May 29, 4:54 PM (ET)

WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) - Blewett the black Labrador retriever knows what it's like to need a little help. For nearly a week last March, the lost dog barked for attention on Washington's Blewett Pass, capturing the hearts of dozens of travelers who fed him and tried unsuccessfully to catch him. After he was finally captured, Jay and Janie Smith of Plain, Wash., gave him a home.

Jay Smith said his wife were walking Blewett on a trail above the Wenatchee River on Monday when the dog started barking and raced down the steep bank to sniff an animal near the river's edge. Janie Smith thought it was a dead bear, but it was an old, arthritic black dog - and it was alive.

The dog's tags showed it to be Pepper, an 11-year-old dog lost since Saturday. Carol Hurt, who lives nearby, had been baby-sitting Pepper for the weekend. She thinks the old dog was swept away by the river while taking a drink. She calls the rescue "pretty heartwarming."

Since this is the pet thread, I thought I'd share a little info about my pets.
I have 4 mice, a guinea pig and a dog.

The names of the 4 mice are:
1...Penny
2...Patches Jr.
3...Dusty Jr.
4...Señorita.

The guinea pig I haven't named, yet, but I do know it's a girl.

My dog's name is Beau Barry. Mom and I just call him Beau.
He's named after these 2 actors:
1...Beau Kazer who occasionally appears as Brock Reynolds on Young & the Restless.
2...Barry Van Dyke son of Dick Van Dyke. Barry played Steve Sloan in the tv show Diagnosis Murder.

Wayward dog story :)

We give treats to all the dogs that come into the store. Some of the dogs actually drag their owners here so they can have a treat. We had a couple of ladies come in this afternoon and in with them came a dog. It didn't belong to either lady. It was sitting on the stairs waiting to come in. We couldn't see the dog because it was a small one. I recognized the dog as soon as I saw her. It was Roxy the Pug. One of our neighbourhood dogs. Fortunately for us Roxy had a tag on with number. I called the customer and said we have Roxy in the store. She couldn't believe that Roxy somehow escaped and came to the store  We did give Roxy a treat when she left. I know Roxy will be back :)

Jacquie that is a really cute story! i bet roxy will break out often to come see you for treats :)

NickyFan juri is very good with the camera! my pixie waits until the camera is just about to take the picture, then looks away! i dont know how she knows...

we found out last week that pixie is in kidney failure :( hopefully she will be ok with the fluids i have to give her, since she cant go on the kidney diet. when we tried senior food (which is reduced protein, but not as low as the kidney diet) she lost a lot of weight fast, and she doesnt have any to spare! we cant give her meat from the table any more though, i felt so bad when she was meowing at me the other night wanting a treat!

i hope she will be okay, i lost both my rats while i was at school so im not ready to lose another pet :(
