Wow... I'm glad you all like the idea! Even if it is all angst. Well, I've got two chapters to get posted this weekend, but I'll see what I can do about it. Of course, the plot bunnies have hit me hard. VERY HARD. I was in a bookstore today and in reading part of a book... I came up with another idea! But I won't tell you about this one. *sigh* if I could only just sit and write fanfic all day instead of going to work, things would be cool and I could get all these written! lol.
Do I ever understand this! I wish I could type as fast as I can think when it comes to these two. I'm tripping over bunnies wherever I go at the moment. Work/fanfic *thinks* yeah, not a hard choice. I really don't want to see Warrick leave. This will be a heartwrenching ep, and I don't mean with just him leaving, I mean, how are Nick and Greg going to react, with or without miss blonde bimbo. lol. She's probably very smart, but I don't care. No offense to her, of course. I just don't want anything getting between the boys. You all understand, don't you?
I will miss Warrick too. I think they will be emotional, both of them but especially Nick, and it will be sad, but like someone else said, at least they will be able to comfort each other. Maybe. Hopefully! I understand what you're saying too,
QOTU, she might be lovely and it's nothing against her per se, just what she represents - getting in the way of the Love! She could be the best new character ever and I'd still want to shave her eyebrows off in her sleep to keep her away from Nick. The thought of Greg doing that to her is now making me giggle, cos i could see him doing it, for some reason. Marking his territory in a high school kind of way...could be fun

Re Warrick leaving: It's going to be kind of sad, actually. Catherine's going to need comforting, Nick's going to need comforting and even Greg will... So do they do group comforting or something? I personally want a little Greg/Nick time. Maybe Nick's at the breakroom, his head in his hands, just thinking and Greg comes in to talk to him. I dunno.
Well there’s been so much to discuss, that I think I will have to start with the relationship issue. Sorry but this is going to be a long post.
Ok for this mini debate I will regard Nick and Greg as a couple.
Who’s in charge?
Just like heterosexual couples, gay couples, i.e. Nick and Greg have over the years shown that between them they share the direct the relationship, or more stereotypically who wears the “trousers”
From the start it was clearly Nick that was in charge. Why? Manly because he was the investigator, whilst Greg was just a lab rat ( also lower in the food chain). Nick liked to have his man where he could find him…
The status quo changed when Greg decided to leave the lab and train as a CSI. Nick really didn’t like that idea at all and we can see that in the episode entitled “Chasing the bus”
Nick was not happy to see Greg on his field or zone… Nick comprehends the dangers a CSI faces and he didn’t want Greg in danger.
For this reason I think that they broke up, which turn out the same time as the night shift was split…. The same thing that reunited the team, also reunited Nick and Greg as an item. At the time of Nick’s kidnapping in “Grave Danger” this freaked Greg out, he lost it.. Nick also lost it…. I think that they came back together sometime just before Season Six opened… Nick still had issues and maybe Greg couldn’t help him with.. Since they got back together and especially since Greg’s beating, he has taken the lead… That is also why we’ve seen him grown up, a more mature man… Greg realised that he could’ve lost Nick for good and he to underwent a similar transition to what Nick went threw in season five.

Other Ships.
I first realised that GSR was strong in the show, and dominated the series, that is what got me watching it, my friend said that Sara and Gil were an item and she shaved his beard… So that brought me to CSI.
What has kept me with CSI for as long as it has, (two years now) is the sub textual relationship we see between Nick and Greg.
Sexuality as I’ve mentioned before can change and does change for a person.
I also realised that Catherine and Warrick short relationship was there, almost semi-cannon if must. I also saw the relationship between Sara and Greg, but also of Nick and Gil, and Nick and Sara.. As well as the weird relationship between Cath and Nick.
See all the shippers? I see them. I study people, and studying make believe couples or people just happens to be a hobby of mine…
In all fairness, I could see the faux love triangle between Sara Gill and Greg, and Sara Greg and Nick.
TPTB have been very clever in giving all the major shippers bits and pieces of subtext to haul viewers in and to retain them. Even the writers themselves have their favourite shippers.
The future.
Who can say what will happen in the future, and especially regarding our boys, the men, Nick and Greg.
What is fact is that if you look hard enough the love is strong… But can it be stronger than TPTB?
Like I said before, if TPTB wanted the LOVE dead then they should’ve introduced someone that is at least Nick’s age, and with a similar background. The fact that she is 23, and Nicks date of birth is August 18th 1971 that would make him 38 years old.
There is a whopping, (correct me if I’m wrong) 15 years difference between Nick and this “date”
Also a new fact that I found out, that the character of Nick Stokes is pivoted around George Eads himself.
Is that not what eventually turned viewers off from watching the show…. GSR? Is this our treasured ship, really going to be the butt of GSR mark 2.1 the smell of BEARD?

^-^ Re relationship: That was really thought out! I retract my previous statement of Nick wearing the pants. I think that, as many people have pointed out, it changes. Nick used to be in charge, but Greg grew up and now he's got the power of the relationship. Greg's grown up a lot, and his relationship with Nick would've changed because of this.
Re subtext: The writers are doing a pretty dang good job if they have given us all those different little bits of subtext. I sort of hope that maybe, just possibly, they are thinking of saving The Love's subtext for something special.
Re Nick's date: 15 years difference? Hmm. Well, there's also the fact that, like
Wojo said, she could play someone much older than that. But I'll still think of her as the twenty three year old. Sorry new person to the cast, I just dun like you. I know that's jumping the gun a little early, but, well...
You know we Love fans are not the only ones concerned about Nick getting a girlfriend. Even those who are fans of just Nick himself are upset by it and think that somehow this woman is going to overshadow him and ruin his character. I don't really agree with that, I don't think we'll see her a whole lot.
As for her age, they are upset about that too, but just because a 23 yr old actress was cast does not mean she will portray a 23 yr old. Someone mentioned she looks older than that, maybe she will play someone closer to his age?? I say wait and see.
TPTB are scared of us, our fandom has gotten so large that it has made the press. So they have to do something about it. TPTB can do what they want but I know that Nick is Greg's and Greg is Nick's. Eight yrs of subtext, flirting, eye sex, and touchy feely moments can't just be wiped out with Nick dating a woman. The guys belong together, they (unlike GSR) have chemistry and there is not a damn thing TPTB can do to change that. It is what it is.
^-^ I haven't really contemplated the people who don't ship when thinking about Nick's relationship with the waitress. I hadn't really thought of them as being angry, but boy will they be. If everyone who was against her had a mass protest, do you think that TPTB would honestly get rid of her?
All Nick and Greg's past relationships fizzle off and die, but The Love lives on.
