The Football Thread #4 - It Is Not Soccer

I'm going to my first game of the season tomorrow :) Walsall-Leeds, can't wait. I may freeze to death, but I haven't seen Leeds for a couple of seasons :(
I hope you enjoy the game tomorrow. :) I'm very nervous this weekend, as it's Liverpool v Man Utd. I really don't like it when they play each other! I'll probably go out and return when it's all over. If it's a good result for Liverpool, I'll watch it on 'Match of the Day 2' later. If Man Utd win, I'll be in denial! ;)

I wonder if Reading (my other team) might actually get some away points tomorrow. Probably not! They have 1 away point so far this season - amazingly enough, obtained at Old Trafford!

^ For ours regret Reading don`t play good this year. :( If some players wasn`t go in othere teams, things maybe can be a lot different. *sigh*

Btw I`m too very excited of the Sunday game - Liverpool v Man Utd. *cross fingers* Stiven Gerrard and the rest to show the best of theirs talent. :)

Reading are definitely missing Steve Sidwell. He was our midfield engine (along with James Harper, who is having another great season). He would break up potential attacks all the time, and was creative going forward too, but alas, he made the money move to Chelsea. Can't really blame him I suppose. Though, at Reading, he started every game. At Chelsea, he is one of many very talented midfielders who has to wait his turn to play. I hope he may play for England one day. :D

Reading's home record is good though. That may just be what saves them from relogation this season. Fingers crossed! ;)

I'm so happy Manchester United have announced they will be touring South Africa in July they came here in 2006 but it wasn't a full strength squad but I'm hoping this time the big guns will come out. I can't wait is it July already!!!

Lucky you. I've been fortunate enough to catch the team a couple of times on their summer tour dates in two different countries. Work and fun happened to align themselves at the right moment. :)

Good result for us yesterday. Gotta feel for Newcastle though as they're going through a really tough time. Surprised the gunners were held though. One keeps expecting them to just steamroll everyone in sight just because of their current form just now.

^^ I missed united when they came out here last time but I swore not again last year I went to watch Spurs when they played one of our local sides here Orlando Pirates it was so much fun and I might not be a spurs supporter but you know what they are really an amazing bunch of guys who stayed out at the end of the match signing autographes in the rain that left a lasting impression on me.

I've read a couple of comments about the Barnsley-Liverpool game in other threads, so I thought I'd bump this thread back up in case anyone wanted to discuss some football in here. :)

I love the magic of the FA cup, the occassional giant killing is great to see. I've only read the score of the Barnsley-Liverpool game but I'll look forward to the highlights later. I did see most of the Bristol Rovers game on the BBC, the pitch looked really terrible but the game was OK.

Giant killings are great unless you happen to be on the receiving end. :( Needless to say, I won't be watching the highlights!

Oh well, now Liverpool are out, it's one less thing to worry about. Next up, Inter Milan on Tuesday. *gulp*

*pops in cause I never sa this thread dispite being a huge football fan*

Lol I know but there's reports that Liverpool's manager may get sacked by the end of the week.......

My brothers listening to the Arsenal V Man UTD match....lol so it'll be interesting to see who wins there.....my brother supports Man UTD so he'll obviously want them to win....lol

Man Utd will win - unfortunately. ;)

There are days when I really wish I wasn't interested in football - and this is one of them. I think I'll just go and watch Harry Hill instead! :D When it comes to football, denial is often the place to be for me.

I have to admit...I've bit... lost with Premiere League and stuff... My latest involvment was when Fulham stole our national team coach...erm... I mean Hodgson moving to Fulham, and how funny it was that after that he got two Finnish players, other being The King of FInnish football - Litmanen.

I was so happy to hear that Jari will be playing here again, though Fulham are now one of Reading's relegation rivals. :( It hasn't been a good season for my teams.

Austria - Netherlands 3:4 (3:1)

*sighs*
At half time Austria were 3:1 up.
no, I'm not kidding, I'm not nuts. We were so good.
I switched to the game after 20 minutes and Austria scored two goals, I couldn't believe my eyes.
and then the third goal.
but the Netherlands woke up and the dream was over.... :(
None the less, I'm soo proud :))) but also a little bit sad, the victory was so close.

Spain defeated Italy 1-0 yesterday on a friendly match with a great goal by David Villa.:)

It's a pity we do it so great on friendly matches but not that great on real ones *keeping my fingers crossed for the Eurocup*

I watched Austria - Netherlands last night and although I am Dutch, after the 3:0 I was cheering for Austria. It was just terrible what the Netherlands did. So I was be bit disappointed when they won with 3:4...:(
