    Tutorial: Catherine Willows [CSI]

ashley_messer requested a tutorial from a recent batch of icons so I found my .psd file for a similar icon. This tutorial was made in Photoshop CS2 and you should have a common knowledge in layers, hue/saturation, and selective coloring. :)

    I made another icon tutorial.
How to achieve the look of this icon [IMG]

I know, it´s no CSI icon but you can use the tut for any black and white photo.

Wanna know how it works ? Follow the link

Ok , hope this is the right place , would like to start to do some art work but only have paint on my computer. I know it is a personal choice but what PhotoShop would be the best for a novice

    Hi CR1!

Welcome to the Art Forum! :)

Well, it's really a matter of opinion, that's why I propose you to try several free versions/trials from different picture editing programs.

Free trial of PhotoShop9 or PhotoImpact from Ulead, which I can only recommend, because it's really pretty easy to handle - hey, even I can work with it! :D Furthermore here is a complete free software, GIMP

I hope this helped you a bit.

Re: The Fan Art Forum Guide

I need HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is really going to be stupid here but, up until today I was going along real well with my photoshop 7 but, I went to make wp's with some pics that had some kind of issues so now everytime I go to do a new WP with a pic it turns up gray & I have to go in & fix it. I never had to before. Can someone tell me what I've done & how to fix it. It's really a pain. LOL Also it's strange that now when I make icons all pics will downsize to 100x100. They wouldn't before, I'm afraid I've really messed it up. I've ininstalled it & re-installed it but..............everything's still the same. Thanks.

Re: The Fan Art Forum Guide

Uh, oh, äh, I guess I had the same problem some time before (with another program, so I think it's NOT your software ;) ). I think it depends on the format - I wanted to use some textures that were in .gif-format, and every time I added them to my original picture it turned grey too, so just try other formats. If this doesn't help - sorry, I have no clue

Re: The Fan Art Forum Guide

I have a question. I downloaded all these fonts to use but I can't get them to work on my computer.

I use Microsoft Photo Editor to edit the caps then I use 'Paint' to add words onto the icons I made. And I'm using Win Vista.

    Anyone can help?
