Re: Best place to host art?

Alrighty, I've just gone through and updated a bunch of links. I'm hoping that over the weekend I'll have a chance to go through all the resource links and clear out the ones that don't work anymore, and maybe find a few new ones to put in.

Maybe some of you hi-tech fans can help me solve this dilemma, I've got an icon that is the right size yet it won't go in on my avatar CP thread so here it is, and any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated THANK'S ahead of time:thumbsup:

Are you using the Adobe suite programs? If you are, when you go to save the image, choose "save for web and devices" rather than save or save as. Then you can specifically tune the quality and compress the .gif properly.

Thank's roxi NO I don't use Adobe, I've got 'my documents' from AOL, and it only has 'save' it's so small, I was surprised that it wouldn't go in. any other suggestions, I don't have that option that you mentioned~

I looked at the properties and the size might be too big, with too many frames perhaps. Try scaling down the frames or starting over and using less.

So I just watched the .gif the whole way through and as good as it is I think a part of the problem is going to be that its just toooo long.

The reason most animations in icons are so short is to keep the size down. That many frames is going to drive the size of the animation up very quickly.

You might want to edit out as many unnecessary frames as you can find. That said I'm going to try to mess with it to see jut how small I can compress that image information before it loses too much quality.

ETA: Here's an example of the icon with about half as many frames:

Despite all the frames I removed the icon is still to big to be uploaded as an avatar here at Talk at 832kB, when the upload limit is a mere 70kB. This is also just about as low as you want the quality to get at compression: adaptive 256. Much less and the image will be very grainy. Unfortunately, the only way to make it smaller is to keep eliminating frames.

:shifty:Hmm... I don't know if I'm posting in the right thread, so sorry if I'm not.

Can anyone suggest me any programme to take screencaps? I've a few but I wanna one that takes snapshot, I don't if I'm explaining myself right, I want one that don't ask something about save or have to select the area that we want. my explanation is a mess, anyways...... Can someone suggest me any programme to take screencaps?

Thank's roxi I appreaciate you doing this, the thing is, it's the whole last scene, to alter would take away form the concept, so I will just post it on that GSR thread as an icon, thank's bunches for you work and your trying this for me:thumbsup:

^ Size as in file storage size? Like the file's kB or mB? Or size as in dimension? height & width? Or size as in animation time? # of frames, length of play etc.

I just realized that I didn't explain right when I was in bed

I meant the file storage size [kb] and the animation time. Sorry for the confusion!
