The Defenders

What a great enticing show. The beginning Nick talking to a dad about his son, Jim who was arrested for wounding a police officer.. How he was a "good kid and got mxed up wth the wrong crowd" Nick: "He's a good kid, let the judge decide", he decides to defend him.~

Part B story a Elvis theft Pete going "NO" is anything safe in this town"? he stole the "Blue Suede Shoes":(

The trial, Jim and two other kids went to a bar to collect a gambling debt, got out of hand and one cop was shot but kid ran away and is hiding..but Jim was waiting in the car, so Nick tells the jury and the judge this~

Pete takes the Elvis case he asks Luke "Did you really touch the "Blue Suede Shoes"?

Dad of Jim cashes in his pension and puts up his house for collerateral Nick gives him a pep talk saying "When this is over you need to say "thank's and I'm sorry to you dad, foo all he's done for you"

Luke was broke and stole the memorabilia to sell it, but his buddies turned him in, because "it was a little too personal" selling Elvis stuff Pete: "Yeah he was the king"

Nick doesn't buy the story of the "gambling debt" why would someone make a bet with a bar guy when gambling is legal in Vegas:confused:

On his way home he's followed by a police officer and he stops and the cop goes "it's your tailight, Nick goes "It's a brand new car" Cop goes "You be careful out there", and drives away.~

Jim is found guilty on all charges, but one juror comes to them and says he didn't think he was guilty and then shares a story about a cop following him, and saying the same thing "You better be careful out there" So they go to the DA, and claim they'll sue, for harrassment on being followed if the kid doesn't get the easiest sentence reduced to 3 years, with early release in 18 months" One of the cops comes to Nick and says he just wanted a "fair shake" and then invites him out for a beer~Nick goes "thank's sir"~

Last scene..they go to the impersonater club and a Marilyn Monroe look-a-like sings to Nick " I Wanna Be Loved By You" poo-poo-be-doo~He's all smitten~
Pete gets off Luke with 15 years probation and no jail time

A Vegas icon is murdered in his mansion and his girlfriend is charged with the crime
[shades of CSI's "BURKED"]

TV Guide issue Nov. 1-7~

I hope they don't cancel this show. Still have to watch this episode this weekend.. [thank goodness for DVR's] Has anyone watched this last Wednesday's episode?

This episode was reminiscent of the episode "BURKED" S/2 CSI..

It starts with the main charater "Black" Betty Johnson,[don't know her name, the actress I mean] and how her live-in boyfirend was dead from a heroine overdose and suffocated in the process. Pete wants to represent her, Nick doesn't:(

The she walks n and Nick is smitten with her. She resembled Mariska Hagarity. from L & O. She had a boy-toy Jason who helped her and some slver bars worth millions which she said she was entitled too.

Her manison killer:wtf: a Liberace piano a bowling ally etc. The make her go over the whold crime again.. she said DeWayne had a vault in the cellar but he'd been using and using and she found him dead on the couch~

The proscutor is the creep from the old ep. who killed himself with a plastic bag.. "Cha-Cha-Changes" another CSI episode, these actors get around~

Betty tells them to put Jason on the stand and he'll set her free, by telling the truth. but he back-stabs her and says "I saw her suffocated him".[he made a plea deal] She's shocked and goes home and gets drunk. Nick comes over and she goes "I've got bad taste in men" he goes "Yeah ya' do".. he gets her sober~

A complete makeover, no make-up and she had on tons before. she looked all clean-cut.. She said he'd been abusive [8 years] and she was ready to walk and he's promised her the silver bars, in case anything ever happened to him, so bottom line he did overdose due to his own hand and had rolled over into the pillow thus suffocating himself~ She was found NOT GUILTY. The end was cute she gave Nick the piano from her house as a gift. There are so many hilarious lines, especially from Jim Belushi [ex producer is Carol Mendelsohn], so if she's on the writing team she's got a great sense of humor~ :guffaw:

From the new TV Guide the ROUSH REVIEW on a scale of 1-10!

Why it's working
In a word:chemistry. Jerry O'Connell and Jim Belushi share an easy rapport as flashy, heart-on-their-sleeves criminal defense lawyers in overexposed Las Vegas. DOES IT WORK? As a buddy lark, yes. And Belushi is especially winning as a family man mourning his broken marriage. In court, though while their cocky tactics to foil the system can be amusing, the predictability of the cases leads to a verdict of "seen it all before" MY SCORE: 7 [boy this guy is tough] I love this show it's delightful and humorous and serious at the same time:thumbsup:

From 11-10 episode~

"I'm not gong to tell you, that's the magic!

Peter goes and watches some Vegas magic tricksters, and is in awe, the bogger won't reveal his source. Nick calls the other woman and she hangs up on him. The woman got a payoff..how and why?

Pete and Nick meet with the constructions lawyers and they say it was a "legitimate accident' and refuse to pay anything. The they walk outside and Nick gets a call and they then offer $5 million. Lacey says "NO". The Pete meets [Penn Julette] Vegas star, who's called Reuben Charter. and he says he's the source. it was "trade secret theft"~

In court Lacey told the judge about her husband Troys worries on this site. Prosecutors suggest that he "drank on the job" [he didn't]~ THye paid off the other guys wife for the safety inspectors not to investigated her case. Rueben gets on the stand in the other case and said he was the culprit.~

TV Guide, issue Dec. 5-12~

Gosh, I love this show. It's so funny yet serious. The two actors Jim, and Jerry and their rehortic is so convincing and so beliveable.

Jake.. breaks down out int bum nowhere in the desert. Two scary guys w/ saw-off shotguns drive up. "We'll give you a ride" he goes No that's OK, I just wait till the card cools down" they insist and so he jumps into their old rattle-trap truck and they drive him to a compound with real low-life characters. So that's the first case. A kid who was caught with shotguns withtheir serial numbers erased off.~He' is asked if he wants anything to drink, he goes "Yeah a large bottle of Scotch and a pitcher of water"

Nick meets a woman who wants to save Otis from execution, for something he wasn't guilty of. So he meets Otis.. a big brown BEAR:wtf: He had clawed somoen who was on stage a event making fun of his owner, and clawed him to death~

Jake defends the kid who's grandfather was selling these illegal guns but the kid had no idea they were in his trunk.

Nick is enamored with the owner of Otis, the banter between them was hilarious. He gets the bear off by saying the animal was "just protecting his owner who had raised him since he was a cub"

Jake gets the kid off, his grandpa testifies Cody didn't know the guns were in the car.

The end shows Nick and the woman walking hand in hand with Otis shortly behind:lol:

Pete's dad is in towen played by James Brolin he's great as this colorful character. He's driven in from Chicago with a stolen car. He's arrested for grand-theft auto. Everybody likes him except his son Pete:confused:His wife said, "the car is her's and he just drove off with it".~

The ex. football player if offered a deal for just assult and battery and 4 years, he says "NO", and then runs amok and attacks Pete:confused: He's all messed up, and can't remember anything, then they find out he's got a brain injury~

An attempt to collect a gambling debt, leads to a shooting in which one person dies, and an off duty cop is wounded

TV Guide.. issue, Dec. 20-Jan.2~

I think Jim Belushi is doing such a spectatular job on this show, his snarky, cynical sense of humor, but good hearted and always out to defend the poor down and out people. He's a more mellow version of his crazy, but talented brother John. Here's a profile of him ;)can't wait for a new ep.
