Apparently folks did not see the side ad/announcement about the move on March 9th (if you did thats cool). I am sure they will announce it (in the announcement section) but until then I think it would be better to inform those who did not see it.

Look to the top right side of the board, for those who missed it or just thought it was a regular ad for something, vBulletin... Arrives at the crime scene March 9 Five top tips to prepare for the change ahead.

The link in this thread or at the side of the board will give you an idea of what you need to know. ;)

This might be an odd question but I want to make sure what I'm thinking is correct.

The message says not all threads will move, does that apply to the information on the bios, signatures, etc?

I am not sure, to be honest, but I will tell you this, I have already saved my Signature and bio in wordpad, and my Avatar was already on computer, but if yours is not then I would suggest saving it to it.

We (Tally and I) are prepared incase certain threads are not moved, if for example discussion and or picture threads are not moved, we have what we need to start new ones (fresh board, fresh threads). again regarding Sigs, avatars, bio's error on the side of caution and copy them into wordpad or notepad and save them, then if they are there you won't need them, if half is there, then you can get the other half and if none of its there then you can put it all back in. :)

I am sorry its not more helpful but we only have what is listed in that link. Until they come out with an announcement that would be more informitive its all we got, again I don't know if they plan to announce it further keep watch to the announcement forum or announcement topics that are put in each forum. If they do make the announcement we will close this thread and referre folks to there.

But we wanted you all to know incase it was missed, and don't feel bad a few of us mods missed it to :lol: so your not alone. :D

Well I am still not sure how to send my pm's to my email. I tried to do it and nothing happened. I also don't understand how to save a thread - not that I necessarily want to....but I was reading that list of things to do and was a bit confused. :confused:

I've saved some of my PMs to email but saving threads is a different matter. I followed the instructions a few days ago and came up with some interestings bits and pieces saved. Unfortunately non of it was what I'd wanted to actually save. *shrugs*

To email Pm's is easy go to my home section go into "Received Private Messages" you will see check boxes to the right check all the boxes you want to have emailed, then go down and click "Email PMs", then repeat the process if you have pm's you sent and want to keep.

Now don't get rid of them just yet, check you email (including the bulk mail) to make sure they arrived in your current email on file with the board. Once they do then save them in your email folder (I have one marked CSIMSGPMs) and store them there, then delete them here if you want, and if you need them you can referre to your email folder, and if you don't need them anymore you can delete them from your email.

As to threads being saved to disk, I am not certain any parts of a thread I copy and paste to wordpad and save that way, I never had the need to save to disk. But that is a good question that could be put to the techs if they allow questions before the move, so hang on to it. :)

I know I am not to helpful, but we know about what you know when it comes to this, ok maybe a little more since we asked some questions, but not that much more.

Destiny - I kept doing that with my PM's and nothing happened. It would help if I actually looked at the email address I have the board resgistered with and not the one I look at everyday at work. :lol:

Thanks for the info on the thread saving. That could help if I do decide I want to save anything.

:lol: yeah that might help with the emails, I know what its like to have two different addies and thinking why isn't it showing, then do the V8 head slap and think duh check the other one. Lucky for me my email here is my main one I look at everyday.

Your welcome, As to the saving threads, there are times when you only want certain things from threads and not the whole, so you can either save via disk and sort through, or sort through and quote or just copy and paste into note or word pads, this way you get what you want and no worries.

Oh I'm so glad the url will be the same. That has been my biggest worry. I would hate not being able to find talk.csi :)

The Trekbbs (the sister site to here) has already moved, for those not a member but would like to see what it looks like Click Here from what I understand except for the name and such there won't be much difference. There is a forum at the top of the board called "vBulletin Test Forum" that allows you to see some of the neat things, I am not sure how much that we will get that they have but its fun to view all the same. ;)

I gather from looking at TheTrekbbs that the new site will work quite well with Firefox :) I certainly prefer using Firefox over Internet Explorer. This forum works quite well on Firefox as well :)

Thanks for th link.... It's going to be so strange after the change over bacause I like the look now but the look look is more moden and i'm sure i'll love it more :lol:

Thanks for the link, Destiny. :) Looks like it won't be too different form what there is now. Just a few tweeks to go long with newer advances in technology. I'm looking forward to trying out the new board. :)
