Talk LIMS 7: Challenge 10 - No Selective Coloring/Curves

Yes, that's right. For this challenge, you cannot use selective colouring or curves to make your icon. Everything else is allowed. (Hey, it's almost over, why would I make it easy for you now?) I'd also like to remind you that everyone has now used their free skips ;)

Screencaps
For this challenge, we'll be using Chad Willingham from Season 1 of New York. I have to appologize for these caps, they were honestly the best I could find  It's hard to find tech other than Adam :p

Rules:
~ This is an anonymous challenge, so don't go posting your icon anywhere until this round is over.
~ Your icon must not exceed 100x100px. It should be in .jpg, .png or .gif format.
~ You must use only the images provided
~ No animations will be permitted.
~ Submit your icon by sending me (Dragonfly) a PM with the subject line LIMS Round 10 or similar.
~ If you are unable to send PM's, you may use the hotmail address in my profile. Just include TalkCSI in the subject so it doesn't go in the junk folder ;)
~ You may submit only ONE icon
~ If you wish to use your free pass for this round, you MUST send me a PM to let me know. Otherwise it won't count, and you will be disqualified.
~ The deadline for submissions will be Sunday, May 31st. No extensions will be given.

I'm going to go hide now *runs away from the final 8*

Re: Talk LIMS #7: Challenge 10 - Now Up!

OK, so I've got a question: I don't use photoshop and in my program there's no fancy tool such as selective coloring, so that's no problem for me. But with the curves, what do you do with that? Is it for making a picture brighter/darker? If so, does that mean I'm not allowed to change the brightness of my icon? Sorry for the dumb question, but I never worked with PS and don't know exactly what features are comparable with my program.

(Oh, and because I LOVE to be nitpicking: it's round 10 for the email subject :D *hides now from Meg's payback* :p)

Re: Talk LIMS #7: Challenge 10 - Now Up!

Selective coloring? Curves? Er.. What?
Like contrasts and such? [/noob]

Re: Talk LIMS #7: Challenge 10 - Now Up!

^^The Selective Color and Curves tools aren't really about contrast. Rather, they alter specific color ranges and the colors of a particular tonal range in your image. They can be used on top of each other as adjustment layers or applied directly to the image layer for varying effects. Contrast tools are more like Levels, Exposure, Contrast/Brightness etc...

Re: Talk LIMS #7: Challenge 10 - Now Up!

If your program doesn't have selective colouring or curves, then this should be an easier challenge for you. It's only those two specific tools that you can't use ;)

I went without those for years before I got my current version of photoshop. It amazes me how much some people depend on them, so I thought I'd see what people can do without them. If you don't have them, well, good for you for this challenge

Re: Talk LIMS #7: Challenge 10 - Now Up!

Oh Chad  I love him ... the actor is a total goof in real life *in a good way ;)* met him at one of the Supernatural conventions.

Sending mine now :)

Re: Talk LIMS #7: Challenge 10 - Now Up!

Chad .... Great idea.. But don't use selective colouring or curves is really hard...
I'll try my best. ;)

Re: Talk LIMS #7: Challenge 10 - Now Up!

Thanks for the info on the curves and selective colouring. I've searched for them in the adjustments. Maybe I'll try using them for a next challenge. ;)

The things I've learned in this LIMS

Sent mine in
