I think Stella and Danny definitely had good interactions in "Creatures of the Night." He kind of snarked at her, though, about being at the crime scene when he made the comment, "So this is what people with no one to go home to do?"
It kind of supports the idea of some prior relationship between them. Like maybe they had a fling, but work always came first for her and he wanted to put more into the relationship than she did. Danny strikes me as kind of clingy, and Stella's so independent. I could see her wanting to have fun with him, but maybe not being able to handle a real relationship.

Yeah, that exchange in "Creatures of the Night: is loaded with subtext. That's not the kind of thing you say to a friend and coworker without provocation.

When Danny tossed that comment to Stella, I caught the stern glare from Stella meaning "you don't want to go there".
Yeah Danny is more the impulsive, emotional type and Stella is made of sturdier strength. That's enough to cause internal conflict between them if they became involved or have an affair.
How about that Danny and Stella season premiere spoiler? We get our fiesty pair cracking down on the case.

I was psyched to see they'll be working together in the premiere, too. They're my favorite pairing (case-wise as well ). And the first NY novel (due in Sept.) has them working together!
I hope they bring back the tension this season! These two just spark! I love how they're both the tough guy in interrogations...like in "The Closer." Though Stella is so much tougher. Danny's just cute tough. Stella's business tough!

She would definitely cut through his defenses. I think they should work on cultivating the Danny/Stella relationship instead of the Danny/Mac relationship. EVERY one of the CSI series seems to have the whole father/son, mentor/student thing going. It would be fresh and exciting to do something different.
