I think I have something for you hyper-rabid music freaks out there (like me).
When I listend to the track it sounded kind of familiar. Early on in this thread, someone posted a link to the CSI music directors website - John Keane -
http://www.jmkeane.com/. So I checked it out, and its basically just a place holder. Being the uber-geek that I am, I thought it might have some "unintended" information, so I did a view source on it and found that, sure enought, it was authored in MSWord, and right there in the Author field was a name that I did recognize - Lauren Sheff. You can find our who he is here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lauren_Scheff.
Lauren has a number of accomplishments, but the most impressive is being the brother of one of the most talented bassist/vocalists in existence (I'm a bassist and a vocalist, so I can judge these things). Well, I was aware of some of Lauren's band and album work because I pay attention to things that Jason shows up on, so I googled Mr. Keane and Mr. Scheff in the same search and sure enough, there are quite a few interesting connections in the "unsigned" band space.
So back to what I thought I heard...there's this band called Cardboard Cindy that never made it, but really played on that whole "west coast" over-produced sound that Keane and Scheff seem to find. Going back and listening to some of their one and only album...well...it was VERY similar to the CSI track. You can check our some tracks at
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=187831.
So I'm really wishing I had bought that album now, because I might just be the most popular kid in the class if this turns out to be a B-side or hidden track from that record.

I might be completely wrong, but it never hurts to try.
