Hi everyone! Thank you for reading this story. I give you the rest of it as a Christmas present.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Part 8
Stella looked up at the cracked window in the toilet. She couldn’t reach it with her leg shackled. She then went back to Jeremy and took off his shoes. She threw one of the shoes at the window. The window broke partially. She threw the other shoe at it. This time, the window broke completely. The shard flew and cut her foot. Stella picked up one of the shard and went to Jeremy.
Jeremy was scared when he saw Stella with a piece of sharp glass in hand. “Hey. What do you want?”
“Don’t worry. I wouldn’t kill you. I’ll see you rot in the jail.” Stella cut his T-shirt off and cut it into dozen of strips. She used the arm of Jeremy’s spectacle frame as pen, her blood as ink. She wrote a help note. She used the strips to make a rope. Then she bandaged her foot and limped back to the toilet. She tied one end of the improvise rope to the faucet, the glasses and the help note at the other end. She wrapped the glasses with the help note then threw it out through the broken window.

Mac, Danny, Hawkes and Flack were in Brooklyn, looking at Benson’s car.
“Petrol found it. The neighbor said it was parked here over one day. They saw a man alone. He parked the car and walked away.” Flack filled them in.
Mac looked around the neighborhood. “I don’t see any abandon house. This guy is smart. He parked the car few blocks away from his hiding place. Danny, Hawkes, you two to the south. Flack and I’ll be in the north. Let’s extend the perimeter to ten blocks in radius. ”
Flack passed the order to other officers via radio. Then they got in cars and cruising the area in a slow speed.
“You think Stella’s OK?” Flack asked.
“I hope so. The suspect said he’ll raise my kids. That means he would keep Stella alive for a while. But it’s too risky to keep her seven months until the babies born. I hope he didn’t change his mind.” Mac said while he scanning the neighborhood. “Stop. What’s that?” There was something reflecting sunlight outside a house. Something else was attaching to it.
“Let’s take a closer look.” Mac said.
They found the reflection came from an abandon house. They looked at each other and drew their weapons then moved quietly and slowly toward the house. There was no sign of activity inside or outside the house. When they got to the location, Mac found a pair of glasses attaching to a strip dangling from a window on the second floor. He and Flack moved a rusty oil drum from the backyard to under the window. Mac climbed up with Flack’s help. He put on the gloves, took the strip and read. He jumped off it immediately.
“It’s Stella.” Mac said excitingly and ran to the front door. Flack called for backup before he joined Mac.
The front door was locked. They went to the back door. They gently pushed the door open, waited for a minute, got in the house. They checked the ground floor but found nothing. They charged for the second floor one after one. There were four bedrooms. Mac took the left side while Flack took the right side. They took a peek into the first two. Mac saw a mattress and some clothes in the room, the other one was empty. They moved to the next two and peeked inside. Flack saw Stella sitting on a mattress. There was a man on the floor tied up like a rice dumpling.
“Mac!” Flack called Mac. They rushed into the room.
“Flack!” Stella got up immediately when she saw Flack. She broke into tears when she saw Mac and flew into his arms. “Mac!” The man snorted when he saw Mac.
Mac wrapped her tight in his arms and kissed her on the temple. “Stella. Thank God!”
Flack walked out of the room to give them some time before the backup arrived.
“You alright?” Mac loosened the embrace and looked at Stella’s face.
“Yeah.” Stella wiped her tears away with both hands.
Mac put his jacket on Stella and let her sat down on the mattress. He noticed the chain on Stella’s ankle and her wounded fingers and foot. He turned to the doorway. “Flack, get paramedic here and get someone cut this chain.”
Flack went back into the room. “They’re on the way.” Then he went to Jeremy. “Hello there!”
Part 9
“Hey.” Stella smiled when she saw Mac walked into the ward.
“Hey. How you feel?” Mac kissed her on the lips and asked.
“Fine. The doctor said our babies fine too.” Stella’s smile widened when she talked about the babies.
“Good.” Mac put a hand on Stella’s abdomen. “I’m so proud of you, Stella. You saved yourself and our babies.”
“I’m proud of you too. I knew I didn’t need to wait too long before you found me.”
“The whole team did. Flack too. We didn’t have much on this guy. I would be desperate if they didn’t have my back. I appreciate them.” Mac said sincerely.
“Maybe we could invite them to a dinner when I’m out of here.”
“Good idea.” Mac agreed.
“I heard you kept telling people your wife’s missing.” Stella tilted her head and said with a smirk.
“I did. What? You don’t want to be my wife?” Mac scratched the back of his ear and said with a smirk too.
“Mmm…I have to think about it. You know, with no flowers, no ring, no kneeling down.” Stella crossed her arms and pretended to think.
Mac laughed. “You want me to kneel down?”
“Of course I do. This is my first time to have a proposal.” Stella laughed too.
Mac wrinkled his nose and closed one of his eyes. “Alright.” He got down on one knee.
Stella laughed. “Mac! I was joking.”
“Hohoho!! Perfect timing!” Danny said from the doorway. The team members were all there, Flack and Sid too. Flack whistled and the others clapped their hands.
Stella blushed. “Get up, Mac! They would laugh at you the rest of their lives.”
“We finally have something on you.” Flack laughed.
“Don’t mind us, Boss. Do what you need to do.” Danny kept teasing, the others laughed loudly.
Mac blushed and laughed. “Shut up, Danny.” He took a ring out of his pocket and offered to Stella. “Stella, would you marry me?”
This time, Flack, Danny and the calmest Doctor Hawkes whistled together.
Stella was touched beyond words. Her tears fell when she nodded.
“Come on. Say the magic word, Stell!” It was Danny again.
“I do.” Stella leaned forward to pull Mac up. Mac put the ring on her finger.
Danny and Flack rubbed their hands and looked at each other. “Close the deal, Mac. Kiss her.”
Mac kissed Stella deeply on the lips.
“Oh, my…” Adam covered his eyes with one hand but peeked from the gaps.
Lindsay wrapped her arms around Danny’s waist.
“Congratulations!” They said all together.
“Thank you, guys!” Mac and Stella said together. Mac hugged every one of them.
“Alright, guys. Come on, drinks on me. My daughter in the lab is going to marry.” Sid pushed all the kids out of the ward.
“Yeah, I need something cold.” Adam said and they all left.
Stella put a hand on Mac’s face. “You shouldn’t do that. I was just joking.”
“It’s not a joke. It’s the start of our new lives.” Mac kissed her on the lips again.
----------------------------------------
“Sid. Are you ready?” Lindsay asked. They were at the church. It was Mac and Stella’s wedding day. Only the team members and a few close friends were invited. The new couple thought a simple ceremony with the people they cared attended was enough.
“I’m a bit nervous to walk Stella down the aisle.” Sid said.
“You can do this. You’re the perfect person to do this. Stella and Mac would have a long happy live with your blessing.” Lindsay adjusted Sid’s lapels and bow tie.
“Right. Thank you, sweetheart.” Sid patted Lindsay’s cheek.
When everything was ready, Stella came out of the bride’s room. She was wearing an elegant wedding gown and gloves, holding a bouquet of white lilies. Her hairs were all pinned up on top of her head liked a crown of roses, circled by a tiara. Layers of veils danced with her every step. She kissed Sid lightly on the cheek then put her hand in his arm.
Everyone held their breaths when Stella entered. Flack, the best man, whispered in Mac’s ear. “She’s stunning. You’re the luckiest guy.”
Mac was in a tuxedo. He didn’t even aware Flack was talking to him. He just couldn’t take his eyes off his wife. He knew he was the luckiest guy.
After the vows reciting, rings exchanging, they were announced husband and wife. Mac held Stella by the waist, they kissed passionately. The guests clapped and congratulated them.
Hand in hand, they walked out of the church.
